Odd that they wouldn’t name Casboult on the bench. If Charlie plays Levi can’t play. Have they changed the rules I thought if you were named on the ground you could not pull out barring injury?

Hmmn, we need to select four players from the following list.

If all perfectly fit, Kennedy, Newman and Curnow would be locks I would say. With the final spot tossed up between LOB and SoS. However, I have a feeling Curnow might just be selected in the hope he gets up for the game. Note all of McKay, McGovern and Levi are still in the squad.

My preferred bench is below but have a feeling that LOB plays and Curnow misses.

Effectively Kennedy and SoS in for Gibbons and Polson

Kennedy
Newman

Polson
LOB
SOS
Curnow

Stocker
Gibbons

I agree with Kennedy, Newman, JSOS and Curnow on the bench.

If Charlie doesn't get up, then it will be one of LOB and Stocker for the final spot.

If Stocker gets a run, it may allow someone like Daisy to play across half forward.

According to Heath Buck, McGovern spent a bit of time with Russell at training. Keep an eye on him. Might be a late withdrawal.

What is interesting is the list of players on the GCS interchange:

Will Brodie, Jack Bowes, Sam Day, George Horlin-Smith, Jack Lukosius, Anthony Miles, Jordan Murdoch and Aaron Young.

If Stuart Dew is going hard for the win, he'll play Bowes and select three mature age players e.g. Miles, Murdoch and GHS.

I'll be interested to see if he drops Lukosius.

Lukosius..... thats the bloke we gave them.......not worth half a Walsh....

I expect Polson to stay and Gibbons to get himself a run in the reserves to learn to find the ball again.
Have said well before the season started that I can understand one being used forward but not two nor even three players asked to do similar roles.

ECurnow is now an official goal-kicker. He's our weapon. :)
Not really sure what Polson may do, but given the inclusions into the squad, he may yet remain for this week, at least.

Anyone know when Cunners is due back?

He could be back next week but as much as I hate to say it, he could be on the sidelines for a while.

The club won't want to risk any health complications by rushing him back into contact sport too early.

In: Charlie, Kennedy
Out: LOB, Gibbons

Kennedy needs to play well to keep his spot as will have no problems replacing him with Jack who is more versatile.

Like to experiment a little bit as ball movement is beyond atrocious. Maybe Plowman in forward pocket if McGovern isnt fit. Maybe Polsen in back pocket on small forward. Maybe Thomas using his flair in half forward line maybe Murphy playing loose man in defence instead of Simmo.

Given the choice of having to sacrifice one of Gibbons or Polson for the greater good, I would save Polson. He actually applied genuine impactful pressure on ball carriers last week, Gibbons was virtually invisible.

Anyone know what is happening with Matthew Cottrell? Not on the injury list, no games (even practice games) for Northern...

I feel the same way.

Gibbons screamed to me of someone trying to make good at all cost and that sounds fine on face value, until you see that ego and not 'team' may be at the forefront of his thoughts.
Now that shouldn't be a slight on a player that's waited several years for the opportunity to show his wares on the bigger stage, but for now and from what I saw through the pre-season, Polson came across as the better team-first man to me.....to me.

Reckon Polson would actually do better without Gibbons and probably vice-versa.
