Surely we can find a spot in the side for McAullife and sonsie after yesterdays efforts in the VFL. I really wanted Lefau to do well but ratagulea absolutely toweled him up. Backline seems to suit Millers athleticism well and thought he went with Dixon well for most the game. I feel like we’re gonna have a lot of games like today this year - Will be somewhat competitive and won’t get smashed but won’t win either.

Second quarter was good, with some attacking intent. I thought Miller stepped up today.

That's about it for the positives.

We lost because Port were better at the contest, more damaging with the footy, better on the spread and had great connection with their leading forwards. I'm surprised we kept it to only 5 goals. If they had kicked straight in the first quarter it could have been a lot worse.

Let's hope for one good quarter against the Swans and for some more young kids to get a game.

Let’s just be done with Macca and Pickett. They provide nothing except a couple of decent pieces of play a game.

Today they combined for 20 touches (5 contested), 1 x goal and 2 x tackles. Pickett has 2 goals for the season, Macca none.

They cost us multiple goals every week. When Macca gets the ball on his own he goes back over his mark and halts all momentum. Pickett gets caught HTB constantly. Neither of them provide any real threat to the oppo … they’d take about 5 seconds of oppo coaching attention each week.

There’s just no future with those guys playing. Get Clarke onto a wing. Keep giving Banks games. Play Short or D Rioli on a wing and Baker in defence. Even play Hugo - I really don’t care who it is. They will give us more than Pickett and Macca and they are young and need games and experience ASAP.

Clearly Lefau needed to be thrown into the middle with all those short people we have in there.

I'm calling it now we are going nowhere with Yze
Lefau didn't really look up to the level today. I wouldn't play him again next week.

We need to work out a way to get McAuliffe and Sonsie into the side.
Mcauliffe in for Dow, Steve morris in the VFL keeps referencing midfield running patterns so he might be held back until he ticks that box.

Sonsie needs to put a couple of weeks together to be up for selection for mine, missed the first few games with suspension

Liked Ross, Miller, Campbell, Brown and Mansells games. Ross was absolutely gut running that last qtr to give us an option.

Was touched, went up to the centre for a goal straight away again, killed our momentum, game over.

Wasn't expecting a win given our outs but I'm heartened by most of our young guys performances.

I was at the game and haven’t seen replays .. which one was the ‘touched’ ball I see being referenced ?

Mcaulf should of played ahead of lefau
Dumb move not replacing Hopper with another midfielder

Well I'm calling it now and I'm saying the players don't really like yze all that much and they would have much preferred mini as our senior coach because they knew him well over a long time and they felt very comfortable with him as well.

Result is about as expected when we had 5 forced changes.

Broke even in clearance and won contested possession. Yze is having some positive impact in that regard. Our foot skills and brain fades are holding us back.

Liked Brown and Trezise games, we need to keep pumping games into them. Miller decent, far better than any of his games as a fwd/Ruck.

Lefau not even close to the level despite all the hype he receives. Time to move past Pickett, McIntosh and probably Grimes too.

McAuliffe and Sonsie just have to come in.

in: McAuliffe, Sonsie, Broad, Clarke, Young
out: Dow (forever), Banks, Pickett, McIntosh, Lefau

fb- Broad, Miller, Trezise
hb- Vlastuin, Young, Short
c- Rioli, Ross, Clarke
hf- Campbell, Balta, Baker
ff- Bolton, Lynch, Mansell
r- Nank, Taranto, Dusty
i/c- Brown, McAuliffe, Sonsie, Grimes

Put Rioli on a ****ing wing Adem.

Banks was really poor today. I'm concerned his contested game isn't improving to AFL standard.

We should try Clarke on the wing and possibly even Brown if we need to find a spot for him when Broad/Young return.

Kmac and Pickett shouldn't be playing any more.

Kelti chat here is misguided.

He was always going to be sub and then found out he was in for triple the game time with about 3 minutes to the bounce.

Right now he’s a short term burst player to give us energy, not a 4 quarter player. He’ll be better for the run.

Young guys good - game two for Brown, Trezise, three for Campbell.

A good reminder that when we drop Pickett, you get Banks. And he was poor.

McIntosh had good moments. Ross and Baker were excellent I thought.

Dow in his fifth year would want to be producing more, but I would give him one more run with Hopper back in.

In: Hopper, Broad, Sonsie, M Rioli, Young
Out: Grimes (rest), Lefau, Banks, Clarke, Trezise

Trezise very stiff but probably doesn’t have a role that’s there yet. I personally think he will end up playing through the middle.

I thought the effort, like last week, was there. If it hadn't, we'd have had a 10 goal plus smashing. Obviously a lot of inexperienced players who had zero to minimal impact. Getting games into them is essential though, so the next month or so will give them experience, and we'll find out if they can play at the level. Anyone got some input on Sonsie and the new kid McAuliffe? Stats would indicate there will be some match committee discussion with those two.

Miller stays imo, as does Mansell. Maurice, even if fit plays VFL. Clarke into the starting 22. Dow - whatever- they seem determined to persist, and with Hopper out for weeks, he probably gets another run if they hold back both the above two.

I think we will be lucky to win a handful of games this season, so hopefully plenty of games are given to these types of players because our ageing players like Grimes and Macca are basically done. Grimes plays out the year though imo, but Macca out and Sonsie on the wing, and McAuliffe for Dow.

Sons had a strong preseason and performed well across half forward in the practice matches.

He's done enough to earn a spot imo.

Jack ross our best mid today. That’s his position ffs

Miller did well which was really pleasing.

Mansell is better than he’s given credit for. He was very good today.

Bolton could have torn the game wide open but doesn’t seem as desperate this year if that makes sense.

Nank pantsed Soldo, where are all the posters that shit canned him when we kept him over soldo 😂

Wtf is wrong with TT????
Lynch awhile off his best
Rioli not at his scintillating best
Dow I have been a believer but today was his chance to really step up. He looked a step behind all game.

BUTTERS - heck what a player. Would love him in our team.
