Yeah my real frustration is the centre bounces. I’ve sat there with the old man year after year watching teams smash us out on the centre bounces. They need to stick right on there man in the centre. That’s the one area for us that has never changed

It's comforting to know that the players and coach learnt from the PF debacle.

how f**king useless was Lambert!? Was barely sighted, put on no pressure (1 tackle), and on the rare occasion he did get the ball he gave it straight back. He was crap last week too. Must be dropped.

LOL WHAT?
Lambert was great last week and the coaches seem to agree.

Ellis should go back to the VFL for a month or more.
I said last week he was awful in the VFL. Yes he got 40 but he was also the highest possie player for us last night.
His decision making is awful!!

Id do:
Garth for Grimes
Balta for Markov
Baker for Ellis
Moore/Townsend for Weller

A very disappointing game for us last night -

- Not much of a game plan apart from bombing into the pack;
- Lack of hunger for the ball - over the past couple of years they would go and go again to get the ball - this year … nothing;
- Umpires - one of their worst games - some what one sided and very much no constancy;
- Sorely missing injured players;
- Credit to the pies for a good plan which had a degree of flexibility (I hate the pies but credit where credit's due);
- A couple of our players … didn't turn up and who knows what they were doing yesterday arvo - but it WASNT preparing for this game:
- Lynch still looks rusty and slow - he does show some promise - but not much hunger for the ball.

Fortunately its the start of the season and we can improve.

Dusty had never been a massive tackler or the hardest two way runner but could compensate for that. Unfortunately he is doing neither atm and his work rate has been atrocious.

I don’t think he is right upstairs atm, somethings really off.
Then he should declare himself unavailable due to mental health.
He's not doing his teammates any favors being out there.

So even though Jack hasn't played great the last two weeks, will be a huge loss for our structure.

The reason Lynch has had time and space to get to contests and jump at the footy is because Riewoldt is taking either the best or at least second best defender away.

Lynch is going to face what Jack has for years, being double and triple teamed by sides while Jack is out of the side. Will need to bring in a tall to try and still generate that space for Lynch.

Only way that will happen is if whoever comes in gets dangerous in their own right, by getting on the scoreboard and drawing the attention of the opposition.

The mids need to work hard with Tom over the next few weeks to work out his leading patterns and actually kick it to the guy's advantage, none of this bombing it on his head BS.

Just my opinion. I thought he butchered the ball last week. Worked hard, but gave it up all night.

Last night he was atrocious.

It was a poor performance no doubt but we have won 23 of 25 matches at the G.
It remains to be seen whether it is a one-off shocker or a pattern at this stage.
Would not be making drastic structural changes, certainly Balta and Ross can play.
Have to target De Goey next time.

the learnings from last year are still there for the time being at least.
I get that it's only Rd2, but I'm not seeing much evidence of these learnings you speak of.

Agree on last night.
Strongly disagree on last week. Had him 4th best on ground (Cotch, Nank, Cripps, Lambert, Higgins)

He is the least of our concerns though.

Last years Prelim with the way it played out we boosted The Filth’s confidence in each other and complete trust in the gameplan coming from the box, it was their belief that nearly won the flag and it’s carried thru to this season.
Losing Rancey has got too many players on the Backfoot, everyone is running and trying but we didn’t have anyone Bold enough to take the gameon and inspire the team.
Bringing in Balta might just create a few moments that lift the confidence.
We need more enthusiasm and actions that lift the team.
We can’t just leave it to Cotch and Edwards and a few, we need some Bold players down back.

I think it’s time to let the puppy loose and see what happens.

I didn't have him near the votes last week (Cotch, Grimes, Nank, Cripps, Higgins...then Vlastuin).

Anyway, just agree to disagree on last week.

I come in peace.

You guys obviously know your list better than me but I think you may be right. Looks very much like us in 2010. Players like Dawes, Blair, Wellingham, Macaffer, Leigh Brown peaked for a six to twelve month period but it was not sustainable.

We all dream of a dynasty when we win a flag but they are rare. Hawks were just phenomenal.

Nope, the Hawks are cheats.

Hardwick lost me in the presser tonight .. have you seen it?

So even after Collingwood has cleaned us up twice in the ruck with Grundy he was asked about using Jack in the ruck and said "We aren't a 2 ruckman side its not how we play, that's not who we are so from our point of view one of those guys needs to ruck"
Why show our hand in Rnd 2?

Okaay! The morning after the night before... :eek:

Being a reasonably positive person I'll try and find some.
The sun rose this morning and I woke up alive... huge win.
The margin was "only" 44 points, a positive because that was a 100pt thumping in reality.
The defence was heroic until the last 15 minutes.
Cotch, Nank, Lynch, KMac and Shedda can all hold their heads high for sheer effort.
It's only round two and thank "insert relevant deity" it's not round twenty two.
The pint at the Riverland was very nice indeed.

The other side of the coin.
The only time we were shoulder to shoulder with Collingwood was at the centre bounce and when WE had the ball.
The lack of impact from Martin, Prestia, Reiwoldt, Graham, Butler, Rioli, Lambert, Higgins, Castagna.
Dan Butler was massive in our premiership year and up to his injury... needs an extended spell to get his mojo back.
While acknowledging that Collingwood were far too good and fully deserved the win, WTF is it with all the one way umpiring!
Every time we had a chance to maybe snatch an undeserved win, or get closer, momentum killing soft to them or blatant not paid to us, the Sidebottom one was appalling. Horrible trend in our free kick differential.

Out: Butler, Markov, Weller
In: Houli, Bolton, Balta

To be fair, the umpires killed us last night!!!
They slaughtered us. Then again so did the Pies. Definitely not an excuse but definitely didnt help matters either.

The team had an absolute nightmare last night.
Collingwoods midfielders and defenders just did what they pleased all night.
Our midfield is simply not good enough and is lacking some big bodies.

Weller can go straight back to St Kilda and it doesn't matter how many touches B Ellis gets, he's useless.

Sorry to single out 1 bloke but I challenge anyone to put forward valid reasons why Ellis should stay in the team.

Dimma sleeps better when he is in the team lol. Iam sure he has said something like that lol.
