How many years did it take Cotch to really get being a good captain?

But again, this isn't a new thing. Nank is a dumb footballer. He is physical, but dumb. And dumb footballers should NOT be captain.

Cotch was tagged hard after Prestia went off, shows how much he's still rated by the opposition
We could have done with a good tagger ourselves tonight. Close Neale down we win.
Reckon Dimma might have to review this tactic going forward. Gone are the days where you just rely on our midfield stars and leave the opposition to run amuck

As bad as Gibcus was, Nankervis for me was WOG.

Every knock on went to Neale who generated something for the Lions. His disposal was woeful. And that last goal that Daniher kicked to win, Nankervis stood inbetween Broad and Balta and stopped them from launching to kill the ball.

Lumbering oaf who was an absolute liability today.
Yep, was ordinary tonight for sure

What would you have done?
Played another medi-sub not named Castagna.
I'm fine with Dusty playing ... his 60% is better than most guys 105%, but he was always going to tire, which is where the medi sub comes in.
And we played one who we have fallen ourselves to get to 300 games and then continued to play when we know he can't go anymore.
Take out his tackle which was perfectly set up for him as he had a head start, he did nothing.
Twice in the last quarter he had a chance deep in the forward line, he simply couldn't get to the contest. It cost us.
No one denying he's a great servant, a key to our **** and all that, but he had no impact all season and we continued to think it's just going to click for him.

Also, no class from the lions. No guard of honour for Sheds.

No mention of Edwards or vision of him from fox.

Disgraceful.
Saw Harris Andrew’s trying to organize it but rest of the team were too busy celebrating their Grand final win

Lmao,it's like a premiership for the media when we lose a final.
In the Pineapple hotel watching the big screen, media like they won tatts.
Haha. It’s so sweet though isn’t it. Like Darth Vader just got lightsabered in the crotch.
Let them enjoy the rest of their carnival with out us. Pffft

Only thing that kept us in it there at the end were two amazing goals from Jack. Neale farken torched us tonight and even if we did get up couldn’t see us getting much further without Dion. Just wasn’t meant to be this year

If you want to know why Jack Graham is so important to this side, Neale getting what he wanted is the reason why.

He is our best defensive midfielder by a mile.

You can question his speed, his upside, his often low possession numbers. But his defensive presence in the midfield is second to none.

Was a massive out.
Prestia out hurt us, shows exactly why we need a TT. Yet Big O out seemed to be actually a good thing for them...
Sonsie, ross, miller, and MRioli all should walk tall after that game, great signs moving forward.

I often think against us that if you have a big subbed out, it’s to your benefit. Quicker across the ground and as it was a ruck, it’s not as bad as we are a pretty poor clearance team.

Hard loss. Heartbroken. You okay that many first time finals players up on a slippery deck, always going to make it hard.

Tough year, and still a transition year. Need to workout how to stop run ons. Need to learn how to play in tight games. But we blooded a lot of young guys. Going to be tough to not overreact (and more than a few already have), but I still think we have a good core of young guys to see us be competitive next season.

Boys gave it there all and left nothing on the field and just like 2018 this one will burn and fuel the desire for redemption in 2023.

For those giving it to the kids, we got to the finals on the back of those kids stepping up when we needed them to and while they didn't all perform to their best they'll only be better for the experience and will be hungry for more just like the boys who went through 2013-2015 finals losses.

Lets not forget that this side has rebuilt on the fly and were right in the mix until the end of a big final.

From here we're likely to add Taranto to the side and we'll get Dusty back in peak fitness and hungry for more. The future is bright my friends and we'll be right there when the whips are cracking at the end of 2023.
Take the rose coloured glasses off. 2018 our list was at its absolute peak. We are going to drop off a cliff next year or finish around the same position. To rate these draftees remotely close to the crop of Edwards, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Martin, Rance, Astbury, Grimes etc is laughable.
