Along with Jack and Mansell, Rioli and Dusty opting to take that one extra bounce too many in the the last and it leading to a scrub kick from Dusty and Rioli losing possession were also crucial mistaked late.

The process continues and while the result is disappointing, there were enough positives out of today in both the VFL & the AFL games that will allow me to sleep well tonight. I knew and accepted our season was done a while back so haven't been overly fussed by the win/loss record, it's more about the things that you see in quarters/halves/games from players who are going to hopefully be around for the next period of success that has me fronting up each week. I'd advise a lot of you to do the same and not worry about the 4 points at the end of the game, but instead take an interest in seeing the development of the new breed, for that is where the real interest in season 2023 lies for Tigers fans.

I'm not Mansel fan but how many games has he played?
The expectations you blokes have on our kids is a joke.
Ryan, Clarke, Ralphsmith, Mansel, Rioli Jnr, Cumberland, Gibcus (last season) you all carry on like they are 50 gamers who have played 20 games under 80k crowds.
Sometimes you just need to sit back and acknowledge we are just not good enough anymore.
Thank God that Bauer and Bradtke haven't been given a game yet, they would be copping it too.

Focus your anger on our Veterans, they lost that game for us tonight, not the kids. Jack was putrid all night, Prestia was non-existant, McIntosh kicking was terrible, Nankervis dropped key marks all night.

Hardwick got out coached, poor selection, relied too much on Ryan to help Reiwoldt up forward and there was no plan B if that didn't work because we had no spare talls playing to try and do something different. Essendon actually showed us quite clearly how to beat us tonight their moment out of the backline exposed us all night and made us look very average, Dimma and our coaches had no answer because we had no plan B. Smacks a bit of arrogance once again.
Us: play the kids
Us after a loss: kids never going to make it

A fun little game ive been playing since the siren

try to come up with something JR8 could have done that would have been worse than kicking it off the ground to a bombers player by himself causing a rebound

he literally could have jumped onto the ball, laid down on it, shown no desire to dispose of it and given away a holding the ball free kick

and i still reckon that would have been better given wed have had some time to reset defensively.

Did anyone else throughout that whole game have the sense of what was going to happen? It just felt like that all game Essendon would eventually get us. It’s a weird feeling but it’s in our DNA.
knew in the second quarter

Mansell had one horror moment but was our best forward all night outside of Bolton and Dusty. Not gonna hang draw and quarter him for the one (albeit massive) mistake he made. He did so many other things right.

Just a positive as the smoke starts to clear - Jack Ross played his heart out tonight. If the brains trust drops him after choking this game then we truly have no idea or we are tanking...

He was immense tonight. Best I’ve seen him play. That’s the level he needs to be at now.

Defending a 3 goal lead with 20 minutes to go was stupid, Mansell missing that goal was stupid, Jack with that grubbed straight to the Essendon bloke was foolish, however they weren’t the reasons we lost, our disposal efficiency is bullshit and needs a lot of work and we looked really stagnant in moments as well. You’d think they’d figure out by now we play our best football when we’re running in waves and swarming opposition players.
Our skill level is so bad that the only real way we put on a winning score is when we essentially walk it into goal via running in waves. Threading a needle to a leading forward is never going to happen with this group because we don't have the calibre of players required. Nor is the high possession game because the more possesions we have the more likely we are to turn it over. So in a nutshell we just have the one strategy and if we can't execute we lose.

Can’t believe how dumb our game plan strategy was tonight vs the obvious short chip game

They cut us up all night and dima was too *en stoned to do something about it

* it was embarrassing watching
I’m so pissed off about this one.. inexcusable

Hope the Chief gives them a proper CEO grilling on monday
In every loss, every team has done this against us and we just can't counter it. This is why I'm convinced it's a coaching problem rather than a personnel problem.

what about that bounce lmao u couldnt make that s**t up 😂

Yeah, that bounce was disgusting. If it continued, Grimes collects that and Menzids doesn't goal. That bounce was game changing.

Only game I really cared about winning this year and and gonna simmer for rest of the year…,

I grew up with us dominating the Bombers and happy we have returned this trend again.

This would have been our 100th win against them and reduced the margin against us to 4. Now it’s up to 6 :(

Damn we should not have lost this one!!!

Oh well I know now to turn off the TV if our games are under a kick with five minutes to go….

I don’t know, I like to win too.

It 100% is a coaching problem. We continue to defend the space down the line and through the corridor rather than backing in our defence and going man to man.
