News coming out of Melbourne Uni is that Cox might not be available for Fridays game.

He went to uni you know.

Sent from my iPad using righteous Bhodi manpower

Treloar was rubbish against GWS and has been ordinary for most of the season. He has no problem finding the ball but he’s turning into a glorified Tom Rockliff. He has little hurt factor with his disposals. His greatest asset was his burst/acceleration but that seems to have gone when his hamstrings went last year. He has stopped taking the game on and his confidence looks shot. He’s now just a nothing midfielder who accumulates ball. Let him do whatever he wants. Adams is another culprit who burns the footy. A poor man’s Dion Prestia.

Pendlebury and Sidebottom are the two that will cause us the most problems in midfield. If Hardwick let’s Steele run around by himself all day we will be in trouble.

I also hope Dusty doesn’t lose his head when that talentless hack Greenwood plonks his fat arse on him.
Greenwood strained a hammy. Your assessment of Treloar was very astute for an outsider. I think the double hammy has definitely ( and sadly) changed his way of playing.

Yeah I haven’t been impressed with Treloar’s season. On paper he looks great, but he looks slower and down on confidence. If he was on the wrong side of thirty I would be concerned, but he’s relatively young so I think he’ll bounce back from it.

Do you think Buckley will put someone else on Dusty? Tagging has worked for him in the past (I don’t know why every coach doesn’t do it), so I can’t imagine he would let him run free all game. Maybe Varcoe is an option. I reckon he has the pace, strength and mongrel to play a shutdown role.

I hope Bucks does exactly that, let Dusty then take Varcoe with him into forward 50 while our other midfielders run amok.

The thing these days is that we don't depend on Dusty in the midfield any more so tagging him doesn't really affect our output, in fact I would bet Bucks would prefer Dusty doesn't play the majority of the game inside 50, could prove to be even more damaging with Jack and Tom clearing a path to goal.

Maynard would probably take him if he went forward. I agree that we don’t rely on him anymore, but if you can halve his output by putting a role player like Varcoe on him, then you would. I think our midfield is our biggest weakness so if you can shut down our biggest weapon in there then it will go a long way to winning the midfield battle and furthermore the game.

Varcoe is struggling form wise as well. It's not a bad suggestion but he's never played that role to my knowledge. Maybe Sier could get the job. He's been below par but he's a big bodied midfielder and giving him a shutdown role might be just what he needs.

Enjoyed watching the Jack/Lunch exhibition... could have kicked 10 between them.
Ellis haters will be disappointed because he’s in good form and is a lock to stay in this current vein.
I liked Chols game... if Nank comes in I’d still keep him and drop ( an unfortunate) Soldo fir his extra versatility. He’s a surprisingly good kick is Chol.
Baker and Short would be vulnerable I think. McIntosh for Short most likely even if they are polar opposites football wise. Some chance Baker makes way for Caddy even if he was reportedly no world beater in his 3 quarters yesterday.
Grimes , Martin, Lynch, Prestia were all very good.

for this year i think soldo/nank combo is best option

chol is doing well but reckon nank can do the same thing better for the time being while also handing out some concussions and helping out his teammates more.

watching the vfl and i'm not sure nank as our main ruck and chol as 2nd will work the best. i know he's only just back from injury but he just doesn't have the height, jump and tapping prowess. our midfielders will really love having soldo's taps for the rest of the year while also having nank around the ground
You could be right. I’m sure there will be those that are determined that Soldo won’t make it that will try to howl you down though.
Natural thought is Nank number one ruck with Chol the utility back up. Going forward that is probably the most likely set up.
However Nank has at his best only been a very good (not great) ruckman but adds so much after the tap.
I worry Chol can still fade out of games, but Soldo doesn’t quite bring enough outside the ruck.
Whichever way they go they need to stick with it for a few weeks to see if it works, don’t want them to chop and change every week.
They could of course drop back to Nank as the lone ruck in finals, once he has a few games under his belt. Who takes the ruck though when he is resting with no Griggs anymore?

Duck laying into the Pies, their form has dropped off.
Averaging 70 points per match in the last 9 rounds.
Hoskin-Elliott and Thomas' goal scoring has dropped off by two thirds compared to 2018.
Would like to see Graham target Crisp.
Would be great to see Nank crash tackle Adams and Treloar.
Not so bothered by Pendles and Sides, they feed off the others.
A lot of media hype surrounding the match, we just need to be clinical and workmanlike.
Get the job done.

Apart from Cameron and Himmelberg, Finlayson slaughtered the Pies too.
Normally a key defender, they moved him into the forward line as the third tall.
There's the key to exposing the wobbles small defense...couple of talls in Cut Lunch and JR with Caddy or Cholly...

It was a clever move by WC to shift Vardy to CHF in the grand final.
Took crucial marks and kicked a telling goal in the final quarter.
They had the three talls playing forward, killing the Pies who were stretched.
In our case, maybe only Nank comes in, Soldo can be omitted.

Forgot him. Maybe Caddy will have to wait another week.

Pies look like bringing in Goldsack and/or Scharenberg. The Sack has matched up well with Jack in the past and Roughead will take Lynch. That'd leave Howe to do as he pleases and intercept. A third marking option in Caddy might not be a bad move.
