Don't know why so many are jumping the gun with Lloyd out and Lennon in. Fair enough Lloyd had a poor game last night although he did get on the end of one and kick a goal which is probably more than Lennon did all last season. Lennon needs to put a few more good games together in the twos before we can consider him. Lloyd played every game last year and was a regular contributor plus he had a decent JLT so should be given another run next week.

As far as changes for next week I would be looking at maybe
Out: Hunt\McIntosh
In: Markov\Miles(if fit)

Maybe not necessary to make changes at this stage depending on how the Pies are traveling.

Lloyd will probably kick 5 next week. Just the type of player he is.

Ok I'm a tight arse and would like to watch a replay of the game. The AFL website looks like it is not allowing you to view replays anymore with getting an 'AFL Live Pass' (read make you pay money each month for something I used to get for free). Does anyone have a suggestion how I can view the games?

How can Dusty get 97.4% of the votes?

Someone didn't think he was in our best? Hmmmm

someone in their review said "didnt really notice him"

and they were being serious

By the way I caught up with a Carlton supporting mate in the city before the game and then again after (didn't wanna sit in the blooz area). He reckoned we got the rub of the green with the umpires. F*** me! I said to him what game were you watching?? Even putting aside the free kick count the umps were red hot on HTB with us and let the baggers hold it for half an hour while spinning around like ballerinas in the tackle!

Griffiths coming off groin surgery will take time to get his strength up. First half was quite okay. Hardly touched it in the second half, but early took some marks (4) bombed in long for two resulting goals and layer 6 tackles. Run out of puff and along with guys like Houli, Rance and MacIntosh will be much better for the run. Who is going to second ruck, Maric?

Yeah the umpiring wasn't terrible overall but the 2 sets of holding the ball rules was crazy.

Plenty of positives to take out of the game but also some negatives..
Rance was off tonight but better for the run and is allowed to have an off day (especially if we win by 7 goals still)
Griff had a shocker, didn't get near it and wasn't presenting enough.
Hunt, McIntosh, Lloyd and Hoult were all below par, which is a worry and should be on notice for round 2.
Our backline as a whole looked very very shaky but that could be due to all the players above...
Worried that because we won that we won't make any changes but I really think we should be making a couple of changes.

You should have spin kicked him

Thoughts

Lloyd was pretty slow and flat. But he has those games.
The Nank was pretty good - to be honest, Kreuzer beat him (which is no disgrace - Kreuzer is good when fit), but Nank had his moments and at least nullified the ruck contest.
I though Bellis was OK.
McIntosh played some good, and some dumb football.
Castagna played some very good, and some very dumb football.
Cotchin......well, he kicked a set shot. Otherwise, zero impact.
Grimes is good.
Astbury - gee, I still don't know if he is a 2nd Key defender. 3rd man up - great. One-on-one - dunno.
Houli is on borrowed time.
Conca - surprisingly OK.
Prestia - very good. Caddy - didn't show much.
Grigg is reliable.
Vlas is best 18 - still don't know just where.
Rioli is - oh, what's the word?????????????....special? Delicious? I like the boy.
Martin - didn't notice him, to be honest.

Loved the faster gameplan (yeah, got caught on the rebound a few times - shit happens). Really loved the tackling pressure (the Blues may still have been in pre-season mode - they were slo-o-o-ow).

Umpiring. Gotta say it. We got an early soft one. The deliberate against the Blues was ridiculous - even I swore at the TV over that one. Other than those, we got screwed.

Oh well - time to get right ahead of ourselves. Prelim finals for sure!

Castagna kicks a goal and Jack and Cotchin come into a circle and discuss tactics with Caddy and Rioli.

The talking amongst the group has improved imo.

Just see it in the body language.

What was that free in the third?
Carlton get a free, the Carlton player plays on,gets pinged but Stevic blows the whistle and let's the Carlton player have another go,confusing decision.
