It’s legit, and they nailed it. The target was US, Port’s “white noise.”

BZT went off injured, some one had to go back

BZT was struggling early in the 3rd. Other teams know our 3KPD don’t have the motors. So they get worked over. With Soldo not 100%, BZT should have been subbed so Lord could chop out in the ruck. Wines rucking against Riccardi destroyed any chance of a come back. He was out marked twice with long high balls down the line with no 3rd man supporting the undersized Wines.

We are the weakest overhead team in the competition especially in the clutch mark department. Now we are seeing so many players double fist spoiler rather than taking a straight forward overhead mark. The team is cooked!

If Ken really is the kind of coach that can turn Rozee, Butters and JHF into fairweather downhill skiiers who pick and choose when to go, then that is as incompetent as anything Nield, Shaw, Eade, Noble, Primus and Hird ever managed.

How he has kept us so consistently mid table, with that level of incompetence, is astounding.

Yeah I get where you're coming from. At the same time, look at the culture Ken has cultivated. No one has the balls to question him from within the footy department, and despite the turnover of players, he consistently produces the same mediocre results.

He knows how to get mid table performances, and if I were a team middling at the bottom end of the table, bringing in Ken for a few years to improve the state of things wouldn't be a silly move. But he's also not ever going to be someone who wins a flag as coach.

He's essentially what David Moyes has been as a manager in Europe.

They know they cannot make the gameplan work and see Hinkley making no attempts to put them in a better position to win.

I’m beyond jokes about Ken. I just want him gone and this club to be a contender and taken seriously again.

I think we definitely wrote off McKenzie too early, he was our most reliable defender until he got injured last year and I don't totally agree with casting him off and replacing him with Esava and BZT just like that. In hindsight it was a strange decision to trade for them both when we only really needed one of them with Clurey also waiting in the wings along with the untried kids. A bit like the decision to bring both Sweet and Soldo in when Visentini is waiting for his opportunity also.
I'm holding out some hope McKenzie can make his way back from injury and reclaim a spot, but I'm not holding my breath on it. We need another safe kick in defence, BZT and Esava are both error-prone and I don't think we can carry them both.

Last year's trades are looking diabolical. None of them look like improvements on existing personnel in their positions. Looking increasingly like desperate trades designed to make it look like they were doing something rather than actually improving our list.

Well played by them, they're aware of the angst and spelled it out nicely. Their social media guy is great, takes the piss out of their players regularly to the point that they dob each other in to him so he can rag on them in different ways. It works.

My initial reaction, “Absolutely he has, the players are now just going through the motions until he’s gone”.

But upon reflection, I think there’s a fair few players on our current list who don’t want him gone. These guys share the same loser mentality as their coach, they lack ambition, they lack fight, they lack discipline, they lack hunger, they lack mongrel, they lack resilience, etc etc.

Yeah, they’ll rock up to training & tick off all the right boxes, they might even play a decent game every now & then, but that’s where it ends. The diehard fans, creating a legacy, respecting the history & the jumper of the club means nothing to them. I mean if our Senior Coach can have a bit of a laugh & a giggle immediately after a bad loss, why not the players?

It’s a really bad culture at the moment, rotten to the core. If it was a marriage, you’d walk away from it.

The players deserve none of the blame for the overall loser culture, that is all on the coach and other senior leaders. Blaming the players is like blaming a poorly trained dog for its bad behaviour. They don't know any better.

I agree, I am not prepared to the write off the players until I see changes in the footy department first. This includes the piss-weak mentality that Uncle Fester has allowed to grow during his tenor.

I pity the next coach, especially Carr as he will have to weed out the weak mentality that is now fully ingrained into the club. Carr will have less bargaining power to enforce any change as the Kochie board would have already enforced their mindset on to him.

The real Port Adelaide would have had someone like Dave Gill or David Granger run through the remnants of an oppo banner like that one, trample on it, and then point to the scoreboard after the game.

I didn't mind the message it sent though, if the members of the cheer squad of a club that has been around for all of 5 minutes gets the message that kern is taking us nowhere then Why The F*** can't d*ckheads like koch see it and make the inevitable decision that should have been made at least 5 years ago!

In regards to first half of statement he wasn’t any better in geelongs system though was he. I think this is what he is.

I’ve said all along I’m unsure about him and Alir being in the same backline, they’re too much the same player, with esava just being Kmart Alir.

2nd half of statement I agree with very much. Tho I’m not so much concerned with us not drafting 1st round key defenders so much as not drafting key defenders at all. Jonas and clurey were the last we drafted and developed and that was yonks ago. Trengove and Howard but look what we did with them.

Plenty of capable key defenders have been drafted in the 25-50 range of drafts where we could have picked them up.

Butters doesn't go hard at the contest like McEntee, is probably the worst call ever made on this forum.

It's actually a great call but people just don't want to see it.

McEntee gives relentless effort and never shirks the contest - a totally separate discussion from his skill level or lack thereof.

Butters is becoming increasingly conditional in his approach to the contest. He is a player who believes his own hype. He needs to get back to what made him a great player and that was a dog hungry attack on the football and strong effort at every contest. Without that he's an average undersized AFL midfielder with tidy skills and that's about it.
