Re: Carlton v Richmond

Dude your side is playing it's best footy and has done all year, and your backline was outmarked many times today by a bunch of first and second year players. The only improvement in your team is the Irishman at CHF, who IMO is a better player than people give him credit for.

Proof you don't have to know what you are talking about in order to state an opinion.

Playing our best footy? As stated above and ignored by yourself, our best has beaten the Pies, the Dogs, the Lions twice and ran the Saints down to the wire. We are nowhere near our best at present. Why? That flows on to your next silly statement. In defence Waite and Walker have been out most of the season, Bower is out, Austin is suspended, and we have dropped Scotland for disciplinary reasons. Our defence is half strength at best and has stood up very well the past two weeks with glaring deficiencies.

As for improvement, the following players have had better years than they did last year:

Russell
Murphy
Gibbs
Judd
Kreuzer
Hampson
Betts
Armfield
Bower

Others have shown improvement despite missing chunks of games: Grigg, O'hAilpin, Hartlett today, Wiggins, Jacobs for example.

Joseph and Garlett have had plenty of game time and added to the side.

Re: Carlton v Richmond

In the last 1/4, most of the Blues players looked absolutely stuffed and were barely jogging to get to the contests. Reckon the Sunday game at Freo was a huge factor. This really was a massive chance for the Tiges given the players out, the short recovery, and terrible conditions, but they blew it. I'm just amazed at the amount of over-possession Richmond do. :)

Two first year players were destroying you in the last quarter. Good signs from the kids today, once again Judd and Fev carry the whole Carlton team. Good luck trying to do any damage in September.:)

No doubt Richmond's midfield were better today, yet the game was never in doubt after half time. Judd despite only playing in bursts still managed 29 disposals, while Gibbs managed 24 disposals, with 83% disposal efficiency (in a game where Carlton's overall DE was 70% & Richmond's 72%).

We won ugly today & the difference between the 2 sides was a forward who kicked accurately on a day when blustery conditions brought most players back to the field.

As far as making the finals is concerned, we will worry about regrouping for next week's game, rather than something that is still 7 weeks down the road. You win enough games you will make the finals, that is the equation. How you win them is secondary.

The grapes can be so sour sometimes. FWIW, the games of Kreuzer & Hampson, along with Hartlett (in his 9th game), Grigg, Anderson & Russell, went a long way to getting us over the line. Of course Fev was absolutely brilliant, demonstrating the significant gulf in skills between Fev & Jack Riewoldt/Mitch Morton.

BTW, Richmond's best player was the oldest player on the field, yet again.

Future does look very bright with the way 2 first year players in Post and Vickery along with Riewoldt were tearing up your defence towards the end of the game. With about 8 kids under 20 games experience they would of beat a 'final 8 contender' if they just kicked straight. :)

Hate to break the news, but that's called "Junk Time", and Joey Anderson and Adam Hartlett have played about 8 games of senior footy between them, and aren't our regular defenders by a long long way. Wouldn't get too excited. When the game was there to be won in the 3rd when you had the assistance of a massive wind advantage, they floped big time. Standing up once the game is over doesn't mean much. :)

Yeah and IF my Auntie had balls she would be my Uncle....

IFS and BUTTS are the only things that come out of Punt Rd on a regular basis.

Re: Carlton v Richmond

hahahahaaha add Blues_Man to that list too. Biggest tool ever.

Just insert any Carlton supporter into that description.

In fact, that club deserves the title.

On today, meh we battled well, considering where we want to get to with our young guys given a go and where the Blues think they are, I think we out performed them.

In fact, kicking straight and we win.

We didn't, so we lost, but plenty of positives for the Tigers to take away from that game.

Loved the look of Post and Vickery in the big time, seen them all season for Coburg and they deserve their spot, Cotchin was at every contest, just so clean and poised, Deledio destroyed Gibbs early then did the job on Judd, had 29 touches himself and kicked 2 goals, great all round performance by a guy that deserves more recognition than he gets.

Special mention to Ben Cousins, was clearly BOG and ran his guts out, what a performance by a true champion and leader. He has done a heap for our football club, well done Benny Boy!

Pretty sure Fev has the 3 votes sewn up... :thumbsu:

No doubt about the improvement in Richmond's form since Benny arrived at the club. After Round 15 last season Richmond were sitting in 11th spot on the ladder with 6 1/2 wins, while at the same stage of this season Richmond are sitting in 14th position with 3 wins. Great work, Benny.:thumbsu: If only Judd could have improved our club in the same way.:D

Re: Carlton v Richmond

take note carlton fans

But you've only won 3 games this year, and lost to Carlton by an average of 50 points per game in 2009. It's good that Richmond are no longer playing 6 players over 30 years of age at long last, but they still had the oldest player out there today, and I have no doubt Brown and Richo wil return, increasing their 30+ year old quota. The Tiges are still about 3 good drafts away from being competitive at this stage, assuming they get a decent coach. :)

Re: Carlton v Richmond

I will be watching happily. We're blooding youngsters who had just as many scoring shots today as Carlton who are meant to be vying for a top 8 spot. We just couldn't finish it off with our inexperience. Would of won if we did. Deledio beat Judd in the last quarter or two, Gibbs was beat by Jackson and Jake King dominated Kade Simpson.

Good signs indeed. Post and Vickery were dominating Calrton's defence in the last quarter. I hope for Carlton's sake that Judd or Fevola don't get injured. They won't do any damage in the finals anyways. Good game. :):thumbsu:

You blokes have been blooding youngsters for 20+ years now :) :thumbsu:

Let me get this straight, We are playing better football now then when we flogged the Bulldogs/Collingwood by 40+ points? If so bring on Collingwood in 2 weeks time for a percentage boost :)

Its funny because you had a full side in during round 1 and only half a side this weekend but somehow we played better to only beat you by 20 points instead of 83? was it.

Irish is all we have out of our side is it? Scotland, Stevens, Waite, Bower, Walker & Warnock must be spuds if Irish is the only player out of our 22 today that would make a difference to our side...

. you make it sound bad playing people that have been your best player for the last 15 years. or a player that on his day would be better than any one playing now.
