Autopsy Round 2, 2025: Positives and Negatives vs Brisbane

Positive - We're last on the ladder, just below Freo by only 8.4%. If we win the derby we could rise several spots and Freo would be last. Well, could be a positive.

+ Don’t know if it’s been mentioned because I haven’t read the entire thread but it’s pleasing to see our two highest clearance winners were 19 year olds.

+ Also Harley was 2nd for clearances and tackles for us. Feel like the derby is set up for Reid and Hewett to light up.

- Lions crowd is the worst in the league. Was surrounded by numpty Broncos fans as usual. As soon as they’re no good again in a few years time they’ll be back to getting 15k to home games.

I know, I know, Simmo’s the devil, but without Yeo against a full strength Melbourne midfield that was one of our best wins of the last decade.

Bounce back was great today. Long may it continue.
Melbourne were and still are imploding internally as a team with half the squad wanting to leave and go to another club and the other half on drugs. And it was a home game where we were putting a team with 100 games of experience per player on the park, vrs 80 games per player today vrs the reigning Premiers on their home ground. Todays game was much more significant.

Maybe the Simpson barrackers like yourself who wanted a clearly burned out coach who didn't want to be there anymore to still be coaching us now should admit how wrong they were. And since it is mostly the same group of posters, led by yourself, who denied all the way up until last year that there was any problem with our list and no need for a rebuild and it was all just Covid and injuries should admit how wrong they were about that too. In fact you have been totally and utterly wrong about pretty much everything on this board for several years. Maybe you should ponder that.

Dermi said one umpire called not 15 with hipwood pass and another paid mark.
Did we have same umpires as GC game as they also how no idea how far 15 mtr is. GC had plenty 10mtr passes, one I swear was 5m
This has been a league-wide problem through the first three rounds

Whole lot of words about things nobody ever said. I said for two years Simmo was on the hot seat, and thought the only thing giving him a stay of execution were injuries and the club going bizarrely early on a secret contract extension. Had to go when he did, if not sooner. There’s a difference between “they won’t sack him this year” and “they shouldn’t sack him this year”.

He’s gone now and has been gone nearly a year, we simply don't need to bring him up every five seconds like some of you can’t help.

In fact you have been totally and utterly wrong about pretty much everything on this board for several years. Maybe you should ponder that.

This is sick, elite posting from ‘Deplorable Trumpster’.

Our best wins of the last decade, that’s a stretch isn’t it? More like one of our only wins in the last couple of years under Simmo. What are you bringing up him for anyway? You recently reprimanded me for doing the same thing.

One of, not our best. One of. Read the pre game preview thread for what we were expecting at the time if you don’t believe me.

And if you note that time is linear, you’ll see that I didn’t bring him up, the person I was responding to did.

You got reprimanded for trying to derail a non Eagles thread with Simmo shit after a Round 0 game before we’d even kicked a ball. Chill out brother.

Good one, how clever. You got a poster of Simmo in your dunny?
I actually do have one of him in my office.

Let’s park it, I reckon. Long live Mini, long live the bounce back.

I heard if you stand in front of a mirror and say "Simpo, Simpo, Simpo", you'll summon a certain group of posters.

I find it hard to believe you, in fact you have been totally and utterly wrong about pretty much everything on this board for several years. Maybe you should ponder that.

WOW, just saw Hall had our highest contested possessions today and 14 out of his 15 no less. He was clean in tight by hand on a number of occasions too. Undroppable imo considering last week, even with Graham back. Fit him in

Graham can come in and replace Long, would like to see Gross get a run also, although not sure who he'd replace.

Sub maybe?

From that intraclub I saw where Gross was BOG from the B team I say we HAVE to play him if fully fit. But also Hall undroppable regardless on today’s effort. Good thing with Grossy is he has played alot fwd in juniors and knows where the goals are anyway

I noticed as we fatigued we moved away from the knock ons and taps to players in better positions that worked in the first half

We were totally gassed from our first half pressure rating. Brilliant effort from the boys today. If they give that most weeks we will knock off some sides like straight away

Yeah, Hall needs to stay in based off today's effort.

Unusual position for the club to be in, having selection difficulties because our young blokes are actually performing. Been a while.

Negative - the morons in the AFL fixturing team. No day games in QLD or WA in March. Particularly early games starting basically at midday.

Should have been twilight at least (to allow us to fly out that evening) when the temperature is lower. Complicating thing in SE QLD then though is that the footy is like a cake of soap with the humidity/dew under lights.

Imagine if the heatwave this week was to extend to Sunday you could have the Derby kicking off at 3pm in 38 degree temperatures. Luckily it looks to be low 30s but that is still bloody warm to play elite level Aussie Rules where blokes are covering 14 to 16km.

Meanwhile it is low to mid 20s in Melbourne.
