Are you new to AFL? If so, why the HELL- in the name of nice things that can be had, would you support the MFC?
Oh man, I ask myself that all the time! But then I remind myself of how good it's going to feel the day we finally finish a season in the eight...

... and in the meantime, I still really enjoy other supporters' meltdowns whenever they lose to us :)

Anyway... I still believe!

BAD: Spending over $300 at the Demon Shop before the game and NOT putting $50 on Essendon at $6.51 as my instincts told me too.

Should have waited till after the game when we won so you get the extra members discount, oh wait we didn't win

Carey described Joe Daniher's performance, excluding goalkicking, as one of the most dominant he has seen in 20 years.
Credit where it's due, Melbourne's efforts in spoiling/marking whenever the ball went near him were non existent. Our total lack of effort made him look good.

Cloke kicked seven straight on us last year :drunk::drunk::drunk:

Remember how we laughed about how some media flog had suggested that Carlton, Essendon and Brisbane might do a Bulldogs and end up with a fairy tale trip to the finals this year and forgot to mention us. And oh how we railed against David King's off-handed confidence that we'd be bottom 4 again and had no improvement in us. What heady days those were, my friends. We'll look back upon this past summer as our salad days.

King has a bit each way, he actually talked us up a few times.

I don't why anyone sooks about media opinions.. they are opinions
If you want to just hear fluff about melbourne go have a beer with Dr Who
Until we actually win games of footy anyone who predicts us to be bottom 4 is closer to the mark than the supporters hear who assumed we would just roll into finals

Ugly.. Our 30-100 gamers compared to bulldogs...our development is far behind theirs

Biggs, Jong, Hrovat, Bont, Stringer, Macrae, Hunter, Johanissen, Dickson, Wallis, Stevens, Dalhaus, Libba, Boyd etc
The majority of these blokes are or are edging towards being top 100 AFL players and some top 50

Ours is full of inconsistent or questionable players still that arent at the level

We are still relying on names like Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw, Kent, Salem, Hogan etc who have all played less than 25 games

The other huge difference is obviously Boyd and Murphy at half back good enough to be AA, whilst we have Lumumba, Garland and McDonald who arent even consistent through a whole game

A rising tide lifts all ships. When we perform better as a team it's so much easier for players to perform better individually. Watts is the perfect example. Us improving won't be on the back of individuals carrying spuds, it will be from playing as a cohesive unit. Team defence, team attack. Taking a farking long time for the coaches to instill this and we are still highly flakey. We go back to shit habits very rapidly under pressure.

omg that was so utterly terrible, this has been the first time that I've gone anywhere near anything vaguely footy related since the game.

In my mind that game never took place and we had a bye in the second round.

I considered going to return some stuff after the match and causing a scene but decided that the poor SOB's running the shop probably didn't have any impact over our team's performance and therefore didn't really deserve my drunken fury.

In fact Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw have played less than 25 games combined and our entire offence seems to be centred around Jesse Hogan who is 21 years old...

While all these guys are clearly talented, we've seen in the past what happens when young players with talent and potential aren't given the opportunity to develop properly because they are heaped with a massive workload and expectation.

This is why I think we will benefit from having Lumamba in the side, Dunn back and maybe even Dawes one day:rolleyes: to share the pressure.

Not sure how this stacks up with the Dogs because they are all obviously a very young list as well, however they had a core group of young talent win a VFL flag together in 2014 and I think that that was an invaluable experience - winning the flag obviously but gelling together in the VFL before stepping up to the big time and establishing themselves. We never had that luxury due to our drafting and prolonged period of cellar-dwelling, we only had kids to cycle through the 1's and they got their brains beat in week-in-week-out and never developed properly.

Hopefully now we are seeing some consistency in the side (more so than previously) but I have my concerns.

Had the displeasure of finally bringing myself to sit down and watch Saturday's game last night and wowee. What a deadset nightmare from start to finish.
I had a bad feeling about this one prior as I'm sure many did.
We certainly looked as though we thought it was just going to happen for us and I've no doubt that Essendon set themselves for this one.
Their list is surprisingly much better than I had realised and they started hard but our boys should have been able to wrestle back the game and run over the top of them.
I do think they'll win a few more games than we all thought they would but Melbourne should have put this one away.
Very disappointing that some of the blokes who have carved up for 4 weeks were nowhere to be seen. Viney wasn't great, Wattsy stunk and T-Mac was horrific.

People asked me what happened after the game and all I could say was "Melbourne did a Melbourne".

I mean it's not like we were beaten by Essendon last year while they were on their way to finishing bottom 4, or beaten by the wooden spooner...

oh hang on.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT ******* HAPPENED.

To all the supporters here who tipped us against the Dons (ten goals you say? ten to fifteen maybe?), you must be new here... Welcome to the Melbourne football club. Enjoy the ride. ******* bunch of pricks.

... Honestly I'm not prepared to tip us against anyone, but it would so quintessentially Melbourne to lose to a team with half its list suspended, and then break a ten year hoodoo at a ground we've never won at. If ever we were gonna topple North, this would be the week.

We are the Pakistan of the AFL. I forget who said it back in 1990's but when asked how Pakistan will go in the world cup said "It depends on which Pakistan turns up". We have the consistency of the Pakistan team only we seem to have it in games. 3 rubbish qtrs against GWS and then 1 good one. Probably only bits of the 2nd and 4th this week. I would like to see the Geelong 2015 team turn up against North.

King is a flog. He said in the round table on Fox that the Dogs and Roos are on the slide this year. They seem to be defying gravity and sliding up. Still it was on Fox.

Port currently doing what any half decent football side would do to Essendope

Ive watched this game more in a daze than our game last week. Seriously. How did we lose to this rabble? The response by the playing group will be closely monitored Sunday. Anything less that 110% effort, or watch the bandwagon members drop off like flies.

I was exactly the same last night.

Essendon players were continuously bobbling the ball, handpassing backwards, mishit kicks, and ZERO silver service to Daniher. At one stage I thought the Bombers were a chance to lose by 186.

Did they dope up for the R2 match?

I honestly can't wrap my head around how we managed to **** last week up as bad as we did. I understand 'because Melbourne' but really, it beggars belief that a team that hasn't won two games in a row in 5 years could just expect the win to be handed to them.

Nor me. If it makes you feel any better, if St Kilda lose this weekend they are at 11 straight losses for AFL matches, and 13 including NAB. Joke teams travel in pairs
