Review Round 2 versus Richmond, the autopsy

Life can be cruel.

Bad things seem to happen in threes... Voss, Hird & now Buckley.

I've always had a mix of hope & faith in the guy, but he keeps coming up short. True champion of the club. But he - and maybe our current administration - seem to be victims of their own over confidence and blind optimism.

Get Jordan Russell, White, Young, Mayne in... we're the best coaching / development club in the land, so will get so much more out of them...
Give Bucks the job without the necessary experience... he's meticulous and a champion player and professional, so he's capable of being the best coach in the land from day 1...
Upgrade Gault, a couple of good pre-season games so he must be the next coming...
Throw Schade into the starting full back position, a couple of good pre-season games so he's def ready for the heat of the reg season...
Get Darcy to carry the load in the forward line... he'll be a star
Stick to my game plan, despite it being flawed / found out, and behind the times...
Keep playing Blair. He's the one-percenters king, and his flaws should just disappear...

Heartbreaking to watch & see the club ridiculed like this. Commentators & journos will have a field day and we may finish lower than last season.

Please turn in around Collingwood FC. Whether its with Bucks & the players need to lift, or with Stuart Dew and we end the experiment before more pain is inflicted.

How many changes are too many?

Blair
Fasolo
Ramsay
Smith
Crisp
Schade
Aish

All deplorable.

Blair, Crisp and Faz should definitely be dropped.

Bring in Crocker, Daicos and Varcoe.

Should have been 5 goals up at one stage, Poor kicking is poor football.

Letting Cloke go and leaving Moore to battle It out inside 50 was a mistake. I don't care how shit Cloke was, he took the best defender.

We will have a new coach in 2018.

We need to trade a midfielder, probably Sidebottom unfortunately and get a Steven May or Josh Schache.

I partly blame our recruiting team, consistently recruiting midfielders with poor skills, ignoring our spine.

The positives, Grundy was superb, Adams, Treloar, Pendles, Howe were good. Hoskin-Elliott shows so much promise, needs to play forward of centre.

0-2, Sydney next week and we'll be 0-3.

Adams was absolutely shit. I never want to hear him referred to as an A-grader again. Treloar gets alot of it but he's really not very damaging. He's been pretty disappointing these first 2 games of the season.

Nehatives: Out Blair, out Blair, out Blair. Should've played Cox - real lack of targets inside 50 at times. Aish gets touches but does less than what Phillips and Smith already do. Crisp needs a spray. Schade is Brown 2.0 - good spoil, worrying kick. We play the swans next week

Positives: the usual suspects (pendles, treloar, Adams, Grundy), goldsack-reid-howe combo down back, WHE, Mayne (on previous form), broomheads first game back

Disgraceful to even put those 2 in the same sentence. Grundy was excellent. Adams is a horrid user of the ball. He gets it alot but has no idea what to do with it.

Ramsay.. 22 years old, played a total of 11 senior games (and is his second game back after and ACL)!!
Maynard - 20 Years old, played a total of 31 games.
Aish - 21 Year old, played 48 games.
Broomhead - 23 years old, played 22 games.
Smith - 23yo, 20 games.
Moore - 21yo, 28 games.
Phillips - 20yo, 8 games

We must play these kids, and they should be given some slack. They all show potential. Development and experience only comes with playing games. Not all are going to be elite superstars, but they may become solid players with experience. And, we have very little to replace them with. (Sier? Oxley? Keeffe?)

The players that should be chastised are the experienced players that we have had a good look at over a few years, but continue to disappoint in important games:

Blair -27yo, seen him "perform" in 145 games
Sidebottom - 26yo, seen him play as a receiver for 165 games. His 30m high, 15 m long passes are weak. For someone with supposedly elite disposal skills, he has no hurt factor for the opposition.
Fasolo - 25yo, 83 games. Downhill skier, defensive skills are one (half-hearted) effort at best.
Mayne - 28yo, 174 games.... Why ??????????
Schade - Could not get a game at GC for 4 years, and it's not like they had a defense that was elite for him not to break into and get games.

It's going to be a long season.

How about the amount of times we kicked it to Rance who was sitting at about 45m from our goal in the hole, literally half the time he got the ball he didn't have to move as Crisp Adams Smith and fasolo just kicked it straight to him as if he was wearing a pies jumper...

Crisp kicked it down Rance's throat twice in about 30 seconds and there wasn't even another Collingwood player anywhere near Rance on either occasion. He deserves to be dropped off the back of that alone.

Spot on.
Fasolo is a downhill skier.

In other news, the sky is blue.

He's beyond useless. He offers nothing as a player. He bobs up a few times a year to kick a few goals. F**kadoodledoo...

How good a pick up is Mayne btw? Plays like a 37 year old man that's ready for the country leagues, and he's probably on more $$ than 3/4 the team.

Maybe Gubby was a plant by GWS to pay back Eddie for his NSW zone meddling?

I feel like we've got Andrew Williams back in the team FML

Dunn not picked again ahead of Schade, Smith, Maynard & Ramsay

Perplexing to say the least. How does Maynard not get dropped for Dunn for this match? Maynard was even worse than last week. Has to be dropped.

How old is Ben Reid? Only 26 or 27? He's cooked. Just like Nathan Brown last year. He's not half the player he used to be.

Agree with all those. Not sure about Schade though but Mayne is finished and Fasolo was shocking tonight.

Maybe i was a bit harsh on Schade, but i don't see him as someone who has potential, but couldn't get a game at a club because of the talent they had. Look at WHE, for example. He shows he has potential. Didn't play a lot at GWS because of the talent they had (and his injuries), but he has quality attributes. Schade, i don't see it.

The only thing missing from tonight's game was the three umpires paying free kicks against some of our players for "unrealistic attempts"......"at being AFL Players"......as these would have been fair rulings to make sadly!

He doesn't have much around him for support. Howe is doing well as an intercept marker. It's either a bold plan or a sad indictment (or both) to let both Frost and Brown go, and rely on one or more of a rookie (Schade), and fella who hasn't played footy for a year (Keeffe) or a Melbourne reject take over the mantle.

Up the other end, we have Darcy Moore as our main forward and one of the best small forwards in the league who can't get on the park, and another who has suddenly forgotten how to kick or chase.

Agree with most of this except for you thinking we need to stick with Maynard. He is a proper ********.

One things guys, let's tone down on Moore a bit. This is literally a kid who is now forced to play on the best defender in every single team. It's ridiculous. Will kill his confidence week by week.

I thought he had a pretty good first half. Took 3 or 4 really nice marks and kicked a goal. Unlucky not to get a free kick or 2 inside 50 as well.

That said, he did fall almost entirely away in the 2nd half.

4 pages in and no one is talking about Treloar's bad kicking and bad kicking action! Rose coloured glasses anyone?! Momentum killers those kicks! They were worse than Clokes shanks! How is it that we can't develop good kicks!

Apparently Treloar and Adams have this untouchable status where getting alot of possies means you had a great game no matter how shit their use of the ball is and how little impact they really have on the game.

Not since the late nineties, have I seen a display like that. Just like then, I feel like although it's only March, maybe I should start making plans for a holiday in September, there's gonna be nothing of interest happening here for me!!!

Blair - 1 kick; 8 HB - 0 effective kicks
Fasolo - 8 kicks; 3 HB's - 1 effective kick; 4 clangers and 1 tackle; 5 shots on goal for 3 points
Schade - 6 kicks; 4 clangers; 2 turnovers resulting in goals
Crisp - 9 kicks; 4 clangers; 1 tackle; 3 effective kicks
Goldsack - 5 kicks; 4 clangers
Maynard - 7 kicks; 2 clangers; 3 effective kicks; 2 turnovers resulting in goals
Ramsay - 3 kicks; 2 clangers; 0% effectiveness by foot

None of these guys would get a game at any other club.

Adams is the new O'bree gets the footy but doesn't hurt. We will be better when he is gone.
