Said it in the autopsy and saying it again here. After giving up a 30+ lead for the second bloody time this year, we need to make a statement at the selection table.

Geary, Ross and Hill have all been terrible in multiple games this year, and all were varying degrees of useless last week. Don't care which one, but I want one of these 3 out as a statement.

Ratts message all preseason was for younger players to take ownership of the team. Time to walk the talk

He wasn't great. He had six touches. Yes he kicked two goals but that isn't his week to week role. He's failing his usual role. He's not leading. If the coach wants to play him forward once or twice a year then sure bring him in for that. But we have better options for his usual role at the moment. Ross and Geary have been poor by their own standards. If they keep playing then that's clearly gifting games to play them into form in the firsts. It's a terrible example to the rest of the list.
Geary was a huge reason why we beat Carlton. Possessions dont tell the whole story. And the leadership he showed was clear.

And he's captain so he won't be dropped anyway.

Id have Webster replace Long.

But I think your other two changes are spot on.
Whatever happens I feel the team is heading in the right direction , but these fade outs are horrifying and being a coach attempting to stop the run of play when the team is losing the contested ball would do your head in.

I don't disagree with that first point. My point is that it isn't his week to week role in which he is failing. Like I said, if he plays forward and gets the job done, play him there when required.

There's nothing wrong with going back to find form, we have Brown, Roberton, Savage, Webster.... all back there doing their bit. Geary and Ross going back IS NOT a bad move. They aren't in form. A terrible message to the rest of the squad to keep playing out of form players.

Stewart loves Bytel but for me Byrnes is my boy

Like them both but you can’t bring 2 debutantes on Adelaide Oval.

Not that I care much anymore , think Byrnes given our need for run & speed out the centre.

George is correct on autopsy the players own it going forward.

They selected the Captain & Vice Captain & Leadership group.

Every team we play for remainder has it imprinted in their DNA stay with Stkilda they are
mentally weak.

They are not going to drop Geary that decision was made at the start of the year.

Agreed. There are so many aspects of our game that have improved this year. We now have a clear game style and there is a clear future visible in the side.

Bad games are expected - and if even yesterdays horrific showing was worse than anyone could expect - its just something we need to expect will happen as this side grows. The challenge is making sure it's not that bad again and we see more of that first quarter football.

Had a think about it

In - Byrnes, Langlands, Sinclair, Phillips, Bytel

Out - Ross, Lonie Marsh Long Paton
Doubt we debut two players in similar positions.

Couldn't agree more, if I was the opposition I'd be thinking the same. We will crack and fade away at some point.

In: Robbo, Sav, Webster, Ryder, Hind and Sinclair

Out: Long, Coffield, Paton, Marsh, Kent, Marshall (suspended/dropped)

Above names are obvious and Marshall because today, embarrassing, undisciplined, was getting dominated by Sean Darcy then had a perfect opportunity and still stuffed it up.

Taking the p!ss surely. How do you tip out Marshall and Coffield ?
Both in their best last week and had good seasons.

Nah all five coming in are playing midfield/forward/wing/hb/bench roles.

They are the best performing players in the two's and if we don't make wholesale changes after last week we may as well give it away now because you are just continuing to accept mediocrity from our supposed "leaders" who run around at half rat power collecting their big money.

I would rather get beaten and see Phillips and Langlands get some match payments than see Ross and Co wandering around half assed and not giving a stuff when the match was there to be won.

Yep. And the talk of lack of leadership... Byrnes and Bytel were captains of their clubs pre Saints... just saying.

Will be interesting to seehow bold we go at selection and potentially expose first gamers to the Adelaide cauldron (albeit reduced in intensity)
Think Long (suspended) for Sinclair only change*
*gears to the backline Gresh forward to find touch and Sinclair in the guts.

People worried about debuting two players in Adelaide... Firstly, that's just soft. Secondly, it's much better than sitting still on a bus for three hours then running out to play. They'll be fine.

I dont understand the people saying that Ben King is one year ahead in development, better because he's been thrown in the deep end at GCS etc etc (which is all true), and then saying Max King should be dropped, rested etc. Shouldn't we be doing what the Suns did with Ben?

Jweb for Longy straight swap.
Bytel for Ross, because the grunt will be handy against the Crows midfield.
Not sure about other changes, but I'd be inclined for Sincs to get a crack at it.
Byrnes stiff, but l don't think this is the right game to bring him in.

The boys need a rocket. Like the kind that strips paint from the walls.
They have the ability, just need to find their ticker.
