I come in peace

Genuine question: any truth to the rumour that a prelim appearance triggers an extension for Hinkley?

Thanks

If it was up to David Koch it would trigger a lifetime contract including generous pension for whenever Hinkley decides to hang up the Coke Zero cans.

This loss is actually worse than the 2007 GF loss. Geelong were a superior team who had 44 years and multiple grand final losses to get out of their system.

This was a shellacking at home in a PF. tribey put the list up in another thread and is the worst loss by a non Vic side playing a home PF.
I totally agree with this. I felt tonight was worse. I actually felt we tried harder in 07. Tonight though was a favourite not showing up and just being absolutely embarrassed, at home, off the back of falling at this hurdle in heartbreaking fashion the year before.

Yep. 2007 was just a good honest side coming up against maybe the most dominant football side ever and a coach who didn't know when to flood.

This was a team we beat 2 games ago who were in a worse position while we'd had a rest. In our 2nd consecutive home prelim.

Only in Australian Football is this sort of crap tolerated. If Hinkley did the same thing in US sport or European football, he'd be sacked before the morning.

You wait he’ll have a stern grilling at Richo’s desk before collecting his 4th placed ribbon.

If you’d told me that rabble would beat us to a Grand Final I’d have stuffed my pockets with chum and jumped into Bass Strait.

I've defended Ken staunchly in this thread, but that was a terrible performance.

I don't think we should be sacking him for the sake of sacking him, but wouldn't be opposed to it if we can get a genuinely good replacement.

Definitely don't want Ross, wouldn't be opposed to Bucks. Would love someone Port Adelaide.

If we don't get the right guy, I'd rather keep Ken. 2 prelims in 2 seasons isn't the worst

When the raw emotion subsides and the rational thought comes through then yes, making PF 2 years running is a decent return to a season. BUT! 2 successive years with 2 home PF's is a bigger choke then 02 & 03 QF failures. The stigma of the Port Adelaide Chokers has been reaffirmed once again.

9 years of a place ribbon is why.

And we won in 04 when many were calling for Chocos head.

Which would have made sense if we sacked him in any of the 7 years before that (apart from 14). It's kind of irrelevant now, the only thing that matters is our performance over the past few seasons, and no matter how you paint it, it's been excellent. Yes, tonight was horrible, but I'm the context of the season, we finished second and got to a prelim.

Sacking him off back to back prelims is absurd unless you're getting a Clarko or someone similar.

Forget going back to 2013, what about last year when we murdered them at the GABBA? Imagine if someone had told you they'd make a grand final within 15 months and we wouldn't - oh and by the way, we won't make a grand final, but we will have TWO home preliminary finals in that time.

What even is this club, seriously.

I think the players like alot of supporters thought that we would just waltz through the game and beat the dogs and were already thinking about the gf. We as supporters are allowed to do that, players and coaches no. This is on hinkley it's his job to get the players minds right.
The fact that riley Bonner was our best player proves my point.
He was the one player I thought before the game that would get dropped for the gf if he had a poor one. The lad probably felt the same hence his performance. The rest of the playing group were already thinking ahead and probably started the game thinking gee I hope I don't get injured.
