Lol, the North Melbourne board is in full meltdown mode.

I don't understand this weird aura everyone has given Clarkson.

Yes, he is a 4 x premiership coach. However, he has only done it at one club. A club that had a terrific setup around him and unbelievable support (draft picks included). Maybe he can take credit for that terrific setup and he built it how he wanted, but, he also failed to rebuild the same club and spent 6 years failing to get back to the top.
I may be wrong, and he might prove to come out giving Essendon/North a premiership in the next three years but I really don't think they should be putting their whole weight on his shoulders as the greatest coach to ever live?
He hasn't proven himself to be a Wayne Bennett or Jose Mourinho yet.

I'd be far more excited and rearing for a new season if we went all in on an untried coach like Yze, Schofield, Kinglsey or Power. Maybe, fingers crossed, Hinkley taking up the North job (because as he's said he won't go into a season without an extended contract) might force our hand to go one of these?

Some of the senior posters might recall i think the first game centrals won over the magpies in a final. The days of old stage footy, and when real opposing football supporters were standing near the opposition. Anyway magpies lost. Standing near the old score board and the crowd interaction was a bit feasty to say the least. At the end of the game close verbal signaling was followed all out dissent. That is arms moving in uncharasteric fashion as well knees etc. was even more confronting outside the oval. A number of spot fires all at once. Any way what is the prescribed response when somebody grabs hold of your banner etc? Some of you old farts might find an unresponsiveresponse. Just a friendly call out. Will not be there but on a tour in pilbara, but a showdown will have plenty of feeling, emotion!

It legit hurt my head to read this from start to finish.

Successor to Hinkley?
Highly regarded. Sam Mitchell went hell for leather trying to get him to Hawthorn after their time together at WCE.

Would be a senior assistant and coach in waiting … whether or not Ken/Port move on in 2023.

Is Ross Lyon the only coach to get a big profile in Victoria, then move interstate?

I can't think of any others.

Malthouse was considered an excellent up and coming young coach after his stint at Footscray, before taking the reins at WCE.

Gary Ayres was still a highly-rated commodity when he walked out of Geelong to take the Adelaide job at the end of ‘99.

Ken would love that, like having Cahill in the coaches box a while back.

More to play out in all this yet.

She’ll be an interesting week next week.

If the bombers jag Clarkson now at the eleventh hour, Norf will definitely be having a chat to Hinkley (they aren't risking a rookie coach) - he is exactly what they need.

Lol that game yesterday may just be the butterfly effect that turns everything on its head

Please Norf pleeease take him end this groundhogian nightmare!

Na, lets not let Essendon get him. Lets be the ones who take Clarko from North, then Noth get take Hinkley and him at the helm for their re-build.

I agree that they wont wont the inexperienced coach, they've done that twice and may not want to risk it again. Good chance they want to go down the safe, experienced route. They have gone all in on Clarko, to lose him at the 11th hour Hinkley becomes the easy pick, and vetran coach who has "experience" taking a side at the bottom and 'turning them around".

Has Robert Shaw ever spoken about his time at Adelaide? from the little I've gleamed he was about as popular in town as a cyst on a testicle, house vandalised etc. t'would make the Hinkley's Adelaide time feel like a rainbow fairyland.

It is exactly what we need not what thy need... they'll chat to Lyon first, then others then a few more and Gary Buckenara, Matthew Knights and then Mark Neeld and then Brendan McCarthy and if they are all not available they will talk to all the assistant coaches and if they are not available they'll speak to Donuts Hinkley and decide to get a coach from the A5's somewhere in Melbourne town.

Caro saying that Norf will come calling for Hinkley or Simpson if Clarkson ends up at Essendon.

I Hope Please GIF
