Taking risks with a small chance of folding is better than experiencing the same mediocre s*** over and over again in order to simply exist.
There is litrrally no risk of folding

After being treated to a fresh round of “ReMeMbEr 2o12?!!11” thanks to Kane on socials this week, Koch is truly the quintessential dude who never showed up but put his name on the group project at the end.

It is genuinely astonishing how many of our lifelong fans out there earnestly believe he’s responsible for Port still existing.

I can understand not keeping up with mainstream news at the time — who could watch/listen to Shuttleworth, Aiston, Rowe and Cornes saying “cash-strapped Power” every three seconds without a self-imposed media embargo — but bloody hell.

The popular misnomers and assumptions are so ingrained it’s like we’re living in parallel worlds.

The owner's (i.e. AFL's) objectives for Port are to not be a drain on their coffers, perform in the middle tier and be there or thereabouts every other year without threatening to turn into a dynasty, and to provide a viable alternative in the Adelaide market for supporters and sponsors not already locked into the Crows.

Unfortunately Koch and the board continue to tick all of these boxes.

We are still in debt, so a premiership or two should definitely be supported by the AFL as it would be the fastest way to dig the club out of debt.

Yeah, but our debt isn't a drain on the AFL. They know we can pay it, they just provide backing. The AFL is controlled by the big Vic clubs, why would they want us able to compete? They already have West Coast and Sydney regularly competing at the pointy end of things, with Adelaide (IMO) only held back from more success by their drinking their own bathwater all the time. With Port at AO, we're in the perfect spot for the AFL.

It was literally the job that the AFL put Koch in to do. In their eyes, he's been brilliant.

So much this.

Koch is doing exactly what the people he has to answer to want him to do. Of course he says that long term members of the club have "unrealistic expectations" and any complaints from them about on-field performance is just "white noise". Unfortunately as long as the morning TV show buffoon keeps doing what the AFL want him to do he will be the chairman of the PAFC as long as he wants.

So they are making a decision on Ken in August.. frightening
Its literally the worst possible time to make a decision on him.

It means we aren't going to have any chance to see how Carr does during the season, but we also won't have learned anything about how he goes in big games, which has been where he has consistently let the club down.

It sounds like if we're sitting top 4 in August they extend him, only for the club to again fail to show up in finals. I think that would be my absolute last straw - I'll be a Port AFLW fan only until he goes if they pull the trigger on him without a flag.
