So if Norf miss out on Clarko and decide to go after Hinks, does that make him the last man standing, again?

I bet Clarko is just looking at what Essendon has to offer.

I think he will still end up at North, difference it it's a small club, Marvel stadium, compare that to a big club with big epic games at the G. Ego versus doing the nice thing by going to North?

If he ends up at North can't wait to see the draw next year and beyond.

So 10 years of failure is all good, because he didn’t drop Burgoyne?
My philosophy has always been 'If you're not winning a flag, you need to be building your list so it can win a flag'. You wanna live in the past, I live in the future.

Burgoyne has proven in the few games that he has played that he could be the lockdown defender for guys like Cameron, Stengle, Rochelle etc that we have needed for a long time. It's got nothing to do with whether Hinkley coaches Port Adelaide or not, but rather, whether he is putting the needs of the team to be successful above playing someone like McKenzie, Clurey or Byrne-Jones who have proven that they can't defend those more agile forwards.

They both play at fairly sparse Marvel stadium. Essendon get the ANZAC day game though.

It's probably because Hinkley, much to the chagrin of this forum, has made three prelim finals, won two qualifying finals, won two elimination finals and won one semi final in his tenure as coach with Port

WOW!

HE HAS?!

Who needs premierships when you can have a pair of home qualifying final wins as entrees to a pair of home preliminary final chokes and a couple of elimination final wins nearly a decade ago thrown in for good measure?

In year two, Hinkley was coaching a prelim final against Hawthorn with the likes of Jake Neade, Andrew Moore and Cam O'Shea in his best 22. It's also clear that Hinkley hasn't lost the players this year like Rutten has. The only agitation for change is coming from impatient fans who, let's face it, if we had played Sam Hayes for every game would be complaining that not playing Georgiades was the reason why we didn't make finals this year.

The situations are not even remotely the same.
'Impatient fans' lol.

There has literally never been a senior coach granted more patience without making a Grand Final in the 126 year history of the VFL/AFL. Not a single one.

Also he did drop Burgoyne a few weeks ago. Lol.

Hinkley keeps finding a way to lower the bar and then limbo under it.

It's probably because Hinkley, much to the chagrin of this forum, has made three prelim finals, won two qualifying finals, won two elimination finals and won one semi final in his tenure as coach with Port whereas Rutten has made one final and lost it as coach with Essendon. I'd also say that the media is aware that Hinkley has been dealt a bad hand with injuries etc during the seasons where things have gone pear shaped.

Essendon doesn't have that issue. Their problem is purely mental.

You know you’re in trouble when you start double-dipping. “Making” Preliminary Finals is just the result of winning Qualifying/Semi Finals. It’s not another achievement its own right.

I already made my position on what I expect from Ken for the remainder of this year clear.

If he drops Burgoyne, he's dead to me.
This is very contradictory because Hinkley is extremely likely to drop young players (while of course famously it doesn't apply to some players).

But look at the litany of crimes committed on our young players by Hinkley all the way back to Campbell Heath and Ben Newton.

Hinkley has always scapegoated young players, never developed them, then moved them on if they become a problem.

It’s absolutely hilarious that Captain Contrarian is basically mimicking Rucci’s drivel these days, because there’s only one thing better than being correct — being the only person who is 100% wrong.
