I am no Hinkley/ Jonas fan but they are our leaders and come show time we should back them. For our own good more than theirs. Give them enough rope to hang themselves then go through due process to find the best new people.
Whining & complaining like a little bitch is loser talk and popular coups rarely end well. If we behave like Essendon then no decent coaches will want a bar of us.
Hinkley has obviously lost the supporters on here but has he lost the players?
I mean, I feel like Ken was given that rope in 2017 after he was given an extension following losing a home Elimination Final after the extra time siren to the 8th placed side.

Since then he's hung himself about 5 times over, including moments such as the 'going from 11-4 to miss the finals' debacle in 2018, the Ben Brown game to miss the finals in 2019, the shortened quarters Covid year where we slept in our own beds and lost a home PF in 2020, the regular quarters Covid year where we slept in our own beds and lost a home PF by a record margin in 2021, and the 0-5 start to mid-table also-rans in 2022. If anything he needs less rope, much less rope.

Blight on radio saying that “he knows” that a VIC based team spoke to Ken about a coaching vacancy at the end of last year.

He’s got no intention of leaving and Colonel Kock doesn’t have the kahunas to sack him….

August is going to consist of Kock begging Hinkley to leave/quit, Ken will write a new contract did 5 yrs @ $1m per season & Col. Kock will sign it…

I’d say it’s all orchestrated for Ken to walk away in August.

Dunno, but he's certainly lost the plot.

You know what else is a self-fulfilling prophecy? Backing in a coach who has obvious shortcomings with the same game plan and no plan B, who has proven that he can’t get his team over the line over the years, and granting him unwarranted extensions, just on the off-chance that somehow it will be different this time.

For every Hardwick and Chris Scott you've got a McCartney or Worsfold situation where a change in coach catalyses a premiership
Hinkley was that at Port. 2014 was our chance with him. 2020 was a huge fail and miss too. 2021 we got lucky in some close games and probably shouldn’t have been in a prelim at all. We need change.

'Anyway Hinkley would be snapped up by any clubs as his record is very good.'

Me

'Hinkleys record is not good. He is quite literally the longest serving club coach to never make a grand final.

The only longer tenured coaches currently are Damien Hardwick, Chris Scott and I believe John Longmire - notice a trend here?

In 10 seasons.we have made the finals 5 times. That's average.

Since 2014 we have won 2 finals.

We have lost 3 prelims under him including 2021 where everything lined up for us and we didn't even show up.

The past about 8 seasons we have had the same forward entry issues and never seemed to make a change in game plan to address it.

He has to go. It's beyond a joke.'

'
If he does go he will be snapped up by another club instantly. His metrics show him to be the 4th best coach in the league, and problems with port seem to be due to other club issues and how the coach doesn't get enough say on selection. Port in particular, more than any other club, seem to dictate terms to there coach especially on selection for finals.'

What the **** are these people watching. And what 'metrics' show him as the 4th best wtaf. He is barely better than 4 coaches let alone 4th best.

I'm so glad I was banned from the subreddit. R/AFL was my footy outlet but it was absolutely maddening having to deal with our in denial supporters

"the coach doesn't get enough say on selection"

Are our selectors appointed by the AFL too?

Where is this rubbish coming from?

Even as a lame rumour it's nothing I've ever heard before.

I have. The Cornes family was pushing this nonsense back when Kane sat out the OG Adelaide Oval game vs Melbourne. Apparently Haysman and Dunc were picking the teams...
