Essendon bobbed up late for Ken last year. Not sure if he was offered a deal but it was certainly intimated that the job was his if he went through the "process."

By then though it was very late in the off season and he had already given his word to the players at Port that he wasn't going anywhere and would be their senior coach for 2023.
As if he'd go through a "process".

If he were offered a deal he would've been out of Port in a heartbeat. He's stupid but he's not that stupid.

Disagree. He's also insanely stubborn, and will refuse to accept that his time has passed. He'll go as far with Port as he's allowed by DK because in his own mind, staying the course is the right thing to do, even if it's clear we're going nowhere.

You are right and the real target of our anger should be directed at Koch and the board, for failing to move on the coach. Hinkley like most coaches ultimately believe they have the answers , are stubborn by nature and will fight for as long as they are allowed, to prove that they can achieve success.

It's up to the board to identify when the time is right to move on a coach and seek a replacement. Unfortunately in our case Koch and the rest can't see what the majority here think, or refuse to acknowledge that they may have got it wrong , which would also mean admitting that they have failed as well.

Unfortunately Koch is not a real deep footy person, he's a administrator, more a fan like most , he is advised by others and listens to media and afl house , who still seem to support Hinkley and suggest he's a good coach. He's also one who believes a contract should be honoured , even at the expense of success.

And your enemies will exploit such divisions, I imagine the crows supporters are belting off when they read this thread.

They treat every Hinkley extension like Christmas has come early.

Hop on Facebook or Twitter and under any article mentioning his contract you’ll find a Crows fan calling for 10 more years.

You’d think the penny would drop.

They're already "belting off" at the idea of ken being coach for another year
You just don’t get it. Obviously never been in the military or any high performance industries?. Come showtime you have to present a united front or you are toast.
I have seen popular coups before and the sad part is that it takes about a week or two before you realise the new leader is a lot worse than the guy you just over threw.

Using this logic, when would a club replace a coach do you think?

As in, what evidence would you need to see to justify moving a coach on?

A bit like when Chocco got the flick, how many years in the wilderness under Primus? We should change coaches every year and be like Essendon
Would have been nice to just change after 10 years.

I am no Hinkley/ Jonas fan but they are our leaders and come show time we should back them. For our own good more than theirs. Give them enough rope to hang themselves then go through due process to find the best new people.
Whining & complaining like a little bitch is loser talk and popular coups rarely end well. If we behave like Essendon then no decent coaches will want a bar of us.
Hinkley has obviously lost the supporters on here but has he lost the players?

For every Hardwick and Chris Scott you've got a McCartney or Worsfold situation where a change in coach catalyses a premiership

Essendon's last flag was 2000. Ours was 2004.

Not sure we can be acting like we're that much better than them.

You want him to knock players out and get suspended?

I can't stand cheap shots on the footy field. You can hit people hard going at football.

However........

Would solve the problem of having to pick him when his form sucks balls. Maybe he could terrorise Neale this weekend.
