There is nothing wrong with wanting change.

I'm not a Hinkley supporter, I was very vocal wanting him gone last year and at the start of this year.

I'm not convinced he should stay still after the first half this year but it's obvious that something has changed and it's working.

The problem is that everyone ASSUMES it's him handing over the coaching to someone else. But no one here knows. Unless we have an undercover that is actually part of the football department leaking stuff to us.

I'm happy to take it on face value that he is still the head coach. Because that is the official role. Certainly he might be taking more on board from his assistants. But that's what a good head coach will do.

He has a history of good home and away performances, especially after bad years so the current season is true to form for Hinkley.

But as others have said also he needs to prove himself for the entire season including finals. The problem is, as mentioned, that even if we do win the flag this year, these people will still give him no credit and want his head on a stick. Because it's not him coaching. But if we do s**t the bed again they will want his head on a stick. Because it's his fault. That is the contradiction that makes people look like fools. According to them Carr is coaching. So if we s**t the bed they should also call for Carr's head. But they won't, they will be partying in the street that he was signed because Hinkley is gone and he was the reason.

If we fail, then Hinkley goes. If he succeeds then he must stay. I think the whole 10 years thing is irrelevant. Hardwick did it after 8. People were calling for his head too. If someone can do it at 8 there is no reason it can't be after 10.

There is also zero need for the this like stinkley, donuts, the crappy Photoshop's and the like. It is immature and an embarrassment to the club. If you can't make your argument without all the insults, then maybe your arguments isn't that great.

The problem is we also have a history of going better when Hinkley listens to his assistants then shitting the bed when they get poached.

100% I have noticed this also. most of our drop offs have been when we have had a new batch of assistants.

it still doesnt change the fact that people are blaming Hinkley for the loss's and giving credit to the assistants for the wins. it cant be both.

it also doesnt justify the immature name calling that makes people look like a child throwing a tantrum.

Posting within 120 seconds of each other at 1:32am/1:33am in the same haughty style is just a coincidence, surely.
Naysayer's entire 2 week posting history is basically about Port and/or Wingard, including a mention of how he'd like to see Wingard back at Port. Lol.

I agree re the name calling.

But it's the difference between a coach who relies on great assistants (Hinkley) and creates great assistants (Choco, Clarkson, Hardwick).

Good people want to leave the former asap and the results dip.

Good people want to learn from the latter and even when they do go the results are maintained.

That's because we haven't lost a game since the big change.

A coach's job is broadly planning, motivating, maintaining standards, building relationships. Giving the team the best chance of winning. Without adequate motivation, planning, standards and positive relationships there's simply no way a team can get to a home preliminary final. No plan was executed by the players, none of the leadership or energy shown in previous games was displayed. The players got sucked in by the pressure of the moment went away from how they normally play. Was over before the coach could say a word to the players.

Look at Hawks v Saints this week. Ross Lyon didn't pay enough respect to James Sicily who was red hot against the Eagles the week before. Because it was "only the Eagles", Ross obviously took little notice of the fact that the Hawks had brought in another KPD specifically to free up Sicily, and simply presumed that he wouldn't have another day out against better oppo. Ross put no plan in place, tried to cobble something together once Sicily already had about 30 possessions to half-time. It didn't really work, and Sicily was the difference in the game. That's a loss you can fairly put on the coach. But a team who finished top-two simply fumbling and showing no leadership? Takes a lot of imagination to see how the coach could possibly be responsible.
Right so the fact the entire team coasted into that prelim, jumping out of contests, our best holding midfielder holding something else at the start of the first quarter doesn’t fit into the definition of “planning, motivating and most importantly maintaining standards”?

Even if and it’s big IF you argue the 2021 prelim was an aberration nobody could foresee how do you explain deficiencies and all these areas for an entire season last year ?

Like I mean I get it you feel we are being unjustifiably harsh (and some of the shit in here easily crosses that line) what I’m yet to understand is what precisely Ken is accountable for in your mind even when trying to apply your own language….

And THAT fact alone is what is driving people including me to madness because the general discussion Re Ken appears to be structured around reasons why things aren’t his fault or in his control rather than scrutiny over what is!

I wonder if naysayer is waluigi from the covid thread lol

I'm pretty sure I know who waluigi was and naysayer has a fair knowledge of recent football history to make their points that would make the two incompatible.

Aren’t you the guy who claimed that “plenty of teams haven’t made finals in the past 11 years”?

Maybe sit this one out.
Think he's an interesting character here, wait till you see his like 4 twitter profiles lol. Gamer profile, Dog profile, weight loss profile etc etc.

Was Ken Hinkley calling Billy Frampton at an after match function at AO 'The Big Show' name calling or is that ok for "Kenny"?

I keep telling you, I don't use alts.

I'm too much of a narcissist.

Implying that using alts doesn’t fit comfortably within the umbrella of narcissism? :)

I haven't replied in this way yet but bloody well said!

Probably an unpopular opinion. If we have top 4 locked in come august. I’m happy for us to stay the course and begin negotiations.

Don’t jump the gun though.

As long as the negotiation is “Win the premiership and we’ll fly you to the Gold Coast business class”

To play this out, let's say we're sitting 1st heading in to finals...

What offer are you putting in front of Ken?

Do you think that's the best offer Ken could get if he was to leave?

I’d offer him 2. And yes he most certainly could get a better deal elsewhere. If that’s the case, he should do what’s best for him

If they're absolutely set on extending him then it shouldn't be any more than rolling 1 year contracts, we've seen how much worse the results are when he is comfortable and isn't coaching for his job.
