Spain just proved you - the players - don't have to love the coach to be winners - world champs. Vamos Jorge Vilda.

2022-23 player dispute[edit]

In 2022, a dispute broke out between Vilda and several of the players of the Spanish national team, with 15 players boycotting the squad. The dispute arose after what the players perceived as a disappointing result in the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 and after the players expressed concerns about Vilda's coaching style and his treatment of the players,

He only picked 3 of the 15 for this world cup squad.

The elite North boys from their 1990’s era were afraid of Denis Pagan and what his response to an error or failing might be.

He famously gave Schwass and Archer the hair-dryer treatment for missing their 1997 Prelim defeat through suspension, as they stood in civvies by the race.

Our coach just treats it all like a bad roll of the dice. Shrugs and hugs. KEN-NECTION™!

Hinkley panicked after getting so close. Minor tweeks were required not throwing out the whole game plan.

The game against Hawthorn where we were 10/1 underdogs and Globetrottered them out of top-2:

• Robbie Gray: 34 dsp & 4 goal assists
• Sam Gray: 34 & 1
• Trav Boak: 30 dsp w/ 7 clearances
• Hammer: 26 & 1 w/ 7 clearances
• Bren Ah Chee: 25 & 1
• Chad Wingard: 20 & 4
• Ryder: 40 hit outs
• Monfries: 13 & 3
• Schulz: 7 & 3
• Jasp/Krak/Ebo/Hoff/Brogsy: 20+ dsp
• Jonas: 9 spoils
• Hombsch: 7 spoils

If only he had the cattle, eh?

You think he'd have worked it out by now given we've finished Top 4 for the past three years.
Weirdly enough we've never finished in this bracket of the top 8 under Ken. We've done 1-2 twice, 5-6 twice and 7-8 once, but never 3-4.

Hinkley in his presser twice mentioned the idea that next week 'could' be our last home game for the season (ie implying there's doubt over whether we will or won't play a final in Adelaide). Does he genuinely not know the finals system? This is a serious question.
He's dumb, that's why. Proves it time and time again.

Except when it’s making a junior player apologise personally to him for making an undisciplined mistake during a game, three days after that game.

David Nucifora coached the ACT Brumbies from 2002 to 2004, making finals all three seasons and winning the Super Rugby trophy in 2004. He was named Australian Rugby coach of the year in all three seasons.

He was fired at the end of the 2004 season largely because he was offside with the players. The Brumbies haven't won the competition since.

So yeah, the fact the players love their coach is the most important thing .

It's strange because we've finished 1-2 and hosted a QF on 6 occasions but only finished 3-4 and played an away QF once. Even stranger is that away QF was after finishing 3rd in 2001 and playing Brisbane at the GABBA which looks like exactly what will happen this year.

****ing went to the chemist for some stuff for a tongue ulcer and she gave me this

This campaigner haunts me.

I hope it doesn't take 11 years and counting to do anything.

It's really simple. The club has chosen to continually go down the the same track with the coach, we choose the good bloke over the good coach policy and it also seems to be applied to the the players too, any player that disagrees with Hinkley is quickly told to go and explore their options.

The heart has been torn out the the club I used to know by pathetic decision makers, as we all know, decison making is the difference between being a winner or a loser, on and off the field.

That ‘drop in form’ was a 20-disposal/20 hit out/5 clearance game in tandem with Ryder, in the 1pt home loss to GWS where Phil Davis (3 Brownlow Votes) and Nick Haynes took 4,000 intercept marks between them.

And weeks later, with Lycett still languishing in the ressies, Ladhams was destroyed by Todd Goldstein in the Ben10 game which sank our season.

Was rumoured at the time that the big ticket free agent shared some thoughts about the difference in standards at Alberton compared to the reigning premier, and had paid the price.

Why should port supporters not express their disgust regarding the negative crapola on this thread; its tediously boring, incredibly repetitive and in a football sense rubbish. If you are only interested in a safe self ingrafting place stiff. Go to the footy and act like a real supporter and find an ounce of credibility.
I may be threadbanned for this but it appears to me that supporters like you are happy to sit back for stable mediocrity while those who want Hinkley held accountable are seeking your club to improve.

Welcome, just for interest and not having a go, i view mitchell as doing a good job/team development. Would you care to share your expectations for mitchell and hawthorn over a time period. Occasionally, look at other clubs boards and find hawthorns board as probably the most balanced. Maybe because of modern success have had!

Maybe he can tell you about how Hawthorn moved on from Peter Schwab just three seasons removed from a Prelim they lost by a kick, for an untried assistant by the name of Alastair Clarkson.

Schwab retired.
Also we were bottom of the ladder when he did.

But back to Ports situation.
Looks like Bevo might be available if some Doggies fans get their wish.
Considering hes a reasonably young man still and a Premiership winning coach be a good replacement for Ken in 2026 or 2027 if Ken leaves?

You can ban this one for such a hurtful post. No thanks on Beveridge.
