Sad Rabbit GIF by Muffin & Nuts

**** U Koch ken Richo Davies and so on..

Am hearing Cos Cardone (with support from Eddie McGuire), Jamie Restas, Holly Ransom, Kathy Nagle and Christine Zietz are on the plane to AFL house right now to veto the decision.
They want to give Hinkley a 5 year extension rather than just two?

I didn’t get anything from that to suggest he’s getting extended. Call me naive but he did say there’s still ongoing talks which could be construed as (we’re just waiting to chalk up a win before we announce Hinkley) but the thing that gave me the teeniest bit of hope is when he said we don’t do rash things and something along the lines of we prepare well for the future, we’ve collected lots of data, we’re looking at the next “4-5, 10 years”.
What I take from that is there’s a succession plan in place, or Carr has already got the gig next year or they’re extending Hinkley longer than we thought could be stupidly possible.

How sad, top 4 (percentage of 2nd) with three games to go and we are better of losing all three remaining games, and going out of the finals. Either losing from 5th or out in straight sets from 4th.

Anything other than that and Hinkley gets an extension.

Koch has played us as fools. They were always re-signing him. He knew if they announced it earlier in the season he would have lost our support, so they strung us along giving us some hope they would not re-sign him.

Koch basically said something will be announced this month this morning on 5AA. They don't want it hanging around and distracting during finals. Given that, you can read between the lines that they wouldn't be sacking him ahead of finals. He'll get an extension, and we'll be straight back into the Ken Hinkley sugar hit zone, with an out of the box piece of H&A form has scored him another extension, regardless of the finals results.

Its hard to take when you consider how banged up our team is. It clear Hinkley was coaching for a contract and to be in the best position possible in August and not coaching for end of season success. The Dixon and Lycett management highlights that.

When we flop out again in finals, and heaven forbid it is a straight sets flop, the supporter bases enthusiasm is going to be completely drained. You'd have to say as a supporter base, the enthusiasm levels are already at record lows since we entered the AFL, but geez, the next 2 years under Hinkley and a continually failing regime that offers no hope to us is going to be depressing.
we bow out in straight sets there might be record low crowds next year. I think for a large majority of supporters that will be the tipping point. The signing of hinkley seems like it was always fait accompli cause all those in power are covering each others arses.

We lose in straight sets, loss carr and sign hinkley ill be taking a rest from attending matches, they can shove it and all the never tear us apart bullshit.

In two years then Ken, Davies and Kochie will be gone, if they don't snag a flag (as they are all hanging onto the hope) then it's been an abject failure.

However...

*I still think there is every chance we win it this year, i'm optimistic.

The way he answered the first bit clearly says it's all been verbally sorted, has been for a while i'd say.

I was hoping he was only saying discussions in August, but he definitely said discussions and a decision.

We're now at least 5 years of this being the case and they're about to extend him again. There is no accountability at Port Adelaide.

Interesting he talks about a 4, 5 or 10 year plan

I'm reading in to that that he is talking about the transition to Carr, because I can't see any way he could expect Ken to be there another 10 years.
I do not see Carr hanging around for that long I'd that is the case

Slim pickings will become like shooting fish in a barrel.
i doubt it will, i can't stand Hinkley but i will still keep getting a membership, i reckon there will be plenty in the same boat. If there wasn't a significant drop off this year after last years debacle of a season (and non sacking of hinkley) then i can't see there being a bigger drop off next year unless we literally lose every game from here and even then i'm doubtful.

There will be other changes next year that will generate some interest, mainly the leadership group. I'm really keen to see Rozee and Butters officially leading this team, rather than the unofficial roles of carrying this side this year.
