The reactions on facebook and twitter couldn’t be any more different.
On Facebook they hide the negative replies so they go all the way to the bottom of the list and out of the "relevant comments" section. The further down you scroll the more critical the comments get.

This is the most poorly received head coaching contract extension in league history. No amount of spin and suppression of comments can hide that. We know it, they know it, the media know it.

I'm sorry, what?

The time for protests was before the new contract. Anything now would have zero meaning, apart from proving that some people have trouble with reality.
I don't agree, the club are trying to spin this as an obvious, popular decision.

It's important that we expose that lie.

I'd absolutely be taking my sack Hinkley banner to the last game but there's no way I'm going after this announcement.

Well hey, it's folly imo, but I'm not actually standing in anyone's way. So what'll you be doing to expose this lie?

There's a time to accept that things haven't gone the way we wanted, and just hunker down mentally and tough out the next 2 years (and cross every extremity in our bodies for some kind of miracle that we make an unlikely gf this year or next).

Again, that time is now, I'd say.

Like, if they ignored Stickerman after 0-5, and WGT after the start of this year, protests would make no difference to the decision they've made

But ongoing protests, coupled with the obvious impending failures, will make a difference to the accountability of said decision

Sacking Ken before end of '25 shouldn't be the goal. The goal is to make sure those that kept him there are no longer in the club

Accept the loss, maintain the rage, push for change.

I don't disagree that it's ultimately futile, but I also know how stickerman and Tredders comments made the club squirm to a very severe degree. I'd rather they remain under as much pressure as possible for as long as possible.

I see your point, and I'm inclined to auto-agree, but then the thought strikes me that the deed is now done for 2 years. Much n all as I've been against the idea of Hinkley for a long time now, now that it's done, I'd prefer to just let them get on with the business of coaching and playing as well as they are able. There's a distant (but non-zero) chance, that ultimate success could be achieved. If it doesn't come (that'd be such a surprise to all), time for making some SERIOUS noise will begin again around April/May of 2025.

It's okay if you want to be conservation with your outrage and while I respectfully disagree, I get it if you want to play it that way.

But there's no reason to keep your powder dry beyond the end of this season should we not finish on a win

Wall to wall Hinkley, the club is a joke
Even if I liked him I'd find this kissing his feet stuff disturbing.

I get a lot of people are upset. But just a warning to everyone, please don't cross the line with your posts.

The last thing I want is to hand out bans to our own supporters.

TBH I don't really care I choose to ignore the old dumb campaigner and just enjoy watching butters Rozee jhf and the rest ..

Really excited to see the shit campaigner Jed rack up 100 AFL games under Ken's tutelage
..

And old yonas play on in 2024 ..

**** me Ken's here for two more years ....

campaigner

I've decided to ignore 95% of football stuff for at least the next two years.

Will chat with you ratbags sometimes, watch games on FTA, listen to tredders and tim, thats it.

No membership, no attending, no Kayo, absolutely no gambling (wasn't anyway), no dreamteam or supercoach, no tipping and no merch.
Life is too short for Hinkleyism.

Nearly at the end of Season 1 of Ted Lasso after tonight, great stuff.

WHAT THE ACTUAL ****. Part of me feels like never watching another minute of AFL again in my life. It's not like that's something I've grown up with and couldn't it without, though I'd miss watching Port.

**** me. I get giving him the benefit of the doubt until the end of the season given the strong spell of form we had earlier on, but an EXTENSION? Are you ****ing kidding me.

Ken is like having a mate that's made a poor choice of romantic partner and can't see it.

I don't want Port to lose, but sometimes walking in on the missus getting banged by half a dozen other dudes is the only way for the message to get through.

Quick scroll of Instagram and I reckon at least 39% of the comments of the extention post are critical of the decision.

It's a hellova lot more on twitter. The club tweet announcing the extension got over 100 replies... 80% + bagging the decision

There's literally no end in sight. All the language suggests this will not end in 2 years. May as well make peace with it.

I'm staggered Carr has hung around tbh... must be the family situation surely

I reckon Stickerman has never been more relevant than right now. I'd love him to go to work tonight, plastering the full length of Port Road with Sack Hinkley signs - the timing would be perfect.

Nah. I just listened to Koch and also the Ken presser.

Koch as he said is all about statistics and numbers. I’d say until those numbers have us down the bottom of the ladder Ken isn’t going anywhere.

Tredrea and BigFooty are all about ‘emotion’.

We are all poles apart from who’s leading the club.

A lot can happen in two years, once Davies goes to AFL that will be the first step. Until then status quo.

Note: I like how Koch loaded his review committee with yes men. Cassisi…..

Will be interesting to see if Tredrea sticks his hand up for the board.

Anyway, I still think we might win it all this year so strap yourself in, remember it isn’t about premierships anyway.

Also how does Williams feel knowing Ken is a more successful coach than him?

Davies going to AFL house at some point will be the start of the end for Ken. Hopefully we win the flag this year and get the ball rolling.

Tredrea and bigfooty do have a lot of emotions but it's strongly backed up by justifiable facts.

They simply can't hide from it, neither can the media, and it's pathetic them censoring comments on the other socials. Koch must've given the team a directive to really double down on the Ken love, completely ignore and censor all the critical posts....makes my blood boil.

They've done the deed now, I'm gonna sit back and wait and see what the next month and a bit brings.....we go all the way great, we fail as expected and things are gonna get very ugly.
