Season 35 opened with a bang with many high scoring contests across the league while team sheet chaos and tribunal hearings dominated headlines.
The Baghdad Bombers unfurled their flag and got off to a cracking start in warm conditions at Abdu Prison kicking 8 goals in the first quarter against the Fighting Furies. The Furies mounted a comeback to lead at 3QT by 1 point but the Bombers rallied late to run away 18 point winners. Their midfield were damaging with ArdentEagle playing beautifully for 29 disposals, 9 marks and 3 goals, kickthething scored 4 goals to go with his 28 disposals and Osc1 had 29 disposals, 10 tackles to go with his 4 goals. For the Furies, ShaunDuggan made his debut for his new club and was a deadeye in front of goal with 5 straight kicks and former Bomber Bovo impressed against his old club with 31 disposals and 9 marks.
Over at Dragon Island, last season's wooden spooners the Dragons FFC defeated the Sin City Swamprats in a shootout. An even performance from the team led by Pie 4 Life with 27 disposals and 5 tackles with 3 marks overcoming a massive 9-goal haul from okeydoke7. It was a bad week for the Swamprats as captain philreich was suspended for a failure to complete a newly mandated colonoscopy.
Over in a wet game at The Eyrie, an eight goal to one third quarter burst from the Royals downed the East Side Phoenix by 3 goals. Gold City were led from the front by captain nahnah who kicked 5 goals, Kapow!!! was clean in difficult conditions gathering 26 disposals, while Cadsky and CakeEater were ruthless at the stoppages with 8 and 9 tackles respectively. For the home team, raskolnikov played well with 22 disposals, 7 marks and 2 goals. It compounded a bad start to the season for the Phoenix with thewizardmelon's grammatical error landing him a suspension for Round 2.
At The Stadium In The Sky, last season's runners up the Roys FFC suffered a big defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Bears with Supersuns gathering 35 disposals and 11 marks and Electronic_Renaissance getting 23 disposals and 12 tackles. Bears clinical to win by 33 points while the Roys were still reeling from a defeat in the Season 33 grand final.
At Spotswood, the Ophidian Old Boys aimed to exact revenge from the team that ended their previous season. But a final quarter fadeout doomed them to a 18-point defeat to the Gumbies FFC. For the home team, Callums_Guns and Elton Johns Wig tried hard with 25 and 21 disposals respectively, but for the Gumbies FFC led by Falconista with 22 disposals, 6 tackles and 3 goals prevailed.
At The Colosseum, the West Coast Wonders hosted rivals the Mount Buller Demons and ran out comfortable winners by 25 points thanks to a 7-goal to 2 quarter that built a 38-point half time lead. Cubs2Lions was a standout for the Wonders with 27 disposals, 5 tackles and a goal while spearhead Frothies Mcveigh bagged 5 goals. Headless failed to make any substantial contribution for the Demons.

how TF does 27 disposals, 10 marks and 2 goals not poll?????View attachment 1719978
Round 2 of Season 35 saw okeydoke7 begin his official countdown to 1000 goals as Falconista's lawyering skills got him out of a penalty while the Tribunal brought the hammer down on philreich and thewizardmelon. The Committee went through a major restructure and Qooty offered some enthralling contests.
At the Hippodrome, the Fighting Furies once again went down in a close match. This time against the Coney Island Warriors by 8 points as the Warriors held on despite a final quarter flurry led by ShaunDuggan. NaturalDisaster was the best player for the Furies with 21 disposals and 19 hitouts while ShaunDuggan was accurate with 4 goals straight. The Filth Wizard outdid his counterpart with 5 goals straight and Moo was great with 19 disposals, 5 marks and 2 goals.
At the Snow Dome, the Mount Buller Demons took on the Roys FFC in a hotly contested match for 3 quarters with the Roys leading by 3 going into 3QT. But eight goals to one in the final quarter would see the Roys too strong for the struggling Demons, running out 45-point winners. For the Roys, tigs2010 combined well with Zevon in the middle and contributed 2 and 3 goals respectively while Hate tried hard in the ruck for the Demons with 19 disposals, 12 hitouts and 2 goals. Headless failed to make any substantial contribution for the Demons.
Gumbies FFC were too strong at home, leading at every change to finish 38-point winners over the Dragons FFC. Barrybran showed again why he is a superstar of the SFA with 40 disposals, 12 marks and a goal, forwards Dory_77 and rye kicked 5 and 4 goals respectively as they ran riot over the Dragons defense. For the Dragons, the legendary Ljp86 was valiant with 22 disposals and 3 goals.
At The Stadium In The Sky, the Las Vegas Bears ran out of time against the reigning premiers the Baghdad Bombers as Art Vandelay_ kicked a goal seconds before the siren to draw within 6 points. ArdentEagle was once again the star for the Bombers with 30 disposals and 11 marks, while Pugsley provided the grunt work with 20 disposals and 11 tackles. For the Bears, Millky95 fought hard with 29 disposals, 8 tackles and 1 goals and Electronic_Renaissance had 25 disposals and 12 tackles.
At Spotswood, the Ophidian Old Boy got on the board with a 19-point win over the West Coast Wonders with an inspiring comeback on the back of 27 disposals, 10 marks and 2 goals from Ligma . Mrs Turbo had 14 disposals, 8 tackles and 2 goals. For the Wonders, Cubs2Lions had 21 disposals and 7 tackles and Grand Uncle Horace had 20 disposals and 2 goals.
The philreich-less Sin City Swamprats were atrocious in Round 2 as the Gold City Royals easily cruised to a crushing 67-point victory. GreyCrow was brilliant in the ruck with 10 hitouts, 19 dipsosals and 5 tackles, Cadsky starred with 22 disposals, a goal and 7 tackles.
