That’s it. Club conducted a thorough review & identified what they need in a senior coach. They then head hunt that coach. It’s standard senior appointments in the corporate world. It has Bassett written all over it. The AFL media are immature in this space & cannot believe we are not going through a base line recruitment process designed for entry level receptionist type gigs. We're with ya phantom
It's just that we think that process is already done
So we’re reinventing the wheel with this process and going to the corporate world instead of following any sort of usual coaching appointment process. That’s it. All of them.Goes towards the soft cap.
How many head coaches are on that at present Joffa?
Maybe he's twice refused to be interviewed because some of his old mates urged him to hang on for the right job? There tends to be a lot of 'what if' conversations going on at every club that I've had anything to do with. I'll bet there are former players urging him to do it. Some maybe inside the club?If that's actually the case then its a f***en disaster.
He has twice refused to be interviewed for a senior coaching position and expected the Boards to fawn over him and hand him the job.
Lets be clear - he's never won a grand final, was sacked from his last position (in very dubious circumstances) with a 30% win rate over his last 4 years.
Despite what his ego tells him, he's not a messiah and doesn't deserve special treatment.
I'd be saying to him what I said to an executive a few years back who was complaining that he shouldn't have to do an interview for new contract at the expiry of term.
If you reckon you're that good you'll win the position. He didn't apply and the company was better off.
Yes, I downgraded not turfed, or as the other moderator posted incorrectly, at the beginning of the year. You must be a better supporter than I am, is that your point in raising my membership? If so have been a member for 32 years and will remain one.And you reckon my comprehension is an issue.
Didn’t you turf your membership?
So we’re reinventing the wheel with this process and going to the corporate world instead of following any sort of usual coaching appointment process.
I suppose that’s fine, as innovators we’ve achieved… checks notes… nothing. Well at least we’re… checks notes… the least successful club in the afl by a street.
Bodes well.
Prove me wrong. You're telling me GC, Adelaide have coaches on 700k.
What’s the issue? At the start of the year, then re-signed and turfed it again last week apparently
Maybe don't listen to incorrect posts then.Definitely a guy I’d listen to for long term critical decision making then.
There's no issue, it's just made up to seek attention, personally couldn't care what he does. What’s the issue?
Prove me wrong.
Yep.That’s it. Club conducted a thorough review & identified what they need in a senior coach. They then head hunt that coach. It’s standard senior appointments in the corporate world. No issue, it was wrong, but that is irrelevant. What’s the issue?
I think that most of the people saying that the process is done already prob also believe that this isnt the first time this has happened in the afl world and has prob happened many many timesSo we’re reinventing the wheel with this process and going to the corporate world instead of following any sort of usual coaching appointment process.
I suppose that’s fine, as innovators we’ve achieved… checks notes… nothing. Well at least we’re… checks notes… the least successful club in the afl by a street.

They've probably gone after 2 or 3 IMO and landed on Ross. Doubt a decision this big was made with just one guy in mind.Who knows how it bodes until we have an evidence base. No issue with your criticism. But I don’t think going through this type of process is anymore a risk than the alternative if you are targeting someone with runs on the board.
We've kept all the findings of the review secret. We grilled Ratts about keeping his job for a week without anyone knowing. Even on a lesser level, there was no noise about the 1 player be brought in over trade period until it was done.
Yet 1 day later and everyone claims to know someone who knows something about us already signing a coach and the contract details.... something doesn't check out here.
They've probably gone after 2 or 3 IMO and landed on Ross. Doubt a decision this big was made with just one guy in mind.
I don't like it and think it doesn't work out but will get behind Ross if confirmed and hope we have the support behind him to make sure even if he gets the arse in a few years we will be alright.
Or Ross hasn't been given the job yet and everyone claiming he has is full of shit.It sounds as if they waited for Ross to say he was keen before giving Ratts a 'chance' at saving his job.
Hope I'm wrong on that one but it does come across that way. It's like we've decided to copy the Freo book for when they did the same back in 2011.
