Geez the saints facebook is a shitshow, everyone so negative and burning memberships, they are a very different breed in there compared to us.

Now, getting back to what stavro#4 was saying about cupping balls...
People that are active on Facebook are normally old people with no idea. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Ross Lyon should be Moe

There seem to be a lot of nannas in the members group. I could be wrong, but we don't seem to have many nannas in here. Anyone want to put their hand up?

Lenny Hayes is the key appointment here, no doubt about it. The guy bled red. black and white his whole career and Ross Lyon knows it.
He won the Norm Smith medal in the 2010 Grand Final FFS, and was the main target by Geelong in 2009.
I think any player next year who's not prepared to do the same, will be dropped to reserve grade or delisted.
And Ross the Boss will enforce it.
I actually like the idea of redemption.
Getting it right the second time is okay with me.

Blake, Lenny, possibly Roo... I think having some of his men coming back has helped mend the trust as well. Trust built over many years, I think they all know that they have each others backs. Neither Ross nor his old clan have wavered in support for each other, even after the shit that went down a decade ago.

Seems alot of the members group are older cheersquad types who haven't forgiven him for leaving...

Our supporter base is full of snowflakes. The kind that are still yelling "just kick it long" all game. In general they dont understand gameplan or positioning all that well and cannot come to terms with modern ideas such as switching play or what a tagger actually does.

But I would still forgive any of them if they are not over Ross V1 and the way he left. That whole period, while we were such a good football side, was downright traumatic. Ross leaving in the fashion that he did was extremely difficult to fathom. Michael Nettlefold should have copped all the heat for it yet he got away with it.

We know what to expect if we do end up with Lyon. There will be a transition time, probably a full year where the gameplan is being bedded in and training structures and the like come into place. There will be inconsistency and we will drop games we probably shouldn't.

With the 09' crew, when they all bought in, it all started to happen. Obviously we have a very different side now, but if I was in any of the players shoes, especially one of the younger guys, I would be absolutely froffing at the opportunity. If I was an older guy, I would be going in with my eyes completely open, knowing that in a short space of time we could be as competitive as anyone in the comp.... If you commit to the work.

Yes. A 4 hour meeting. At the President’s home (if you don’t mind).

A meeting that long is about negotiating final terms and conditions rather than convincing him whether he is interested in being part of a process.

Have a look at the smile on his face. He said “it’s a big step isn’t it”.

It’s now just a matter of when they announce it.

I actually think it’s likely the post signing planning session - deep dive of players and history so Ross can get to work. Probably discussing communication strategy and first 100 days type stuff

If Lyon is announced as the new coach as expected, I wonder if he'll make a cautionary cull to the playing list ala Troy Schwarze. Poor Schwarze was sacrificed to announce that Lyon wouldn't be accepting anything less than perfect when he was first appointed.

I believe Stavro posted that one of Ross' favourite quotes is "kill 1 to educate 1000"

Who could be a candidate? We certainly have the cap space to pay out a fringe player's contract.

FWIW you desperate campaigners ... I was there yesterday when RTB met Bassett in his back garden

Unfortunately I had to kill RTB's bodyguard but I got the full lowdown and will post everything I heard shortly :thumbsu:
That was you!? I was in the pile of mud next to you.

Alison or King

Clear that our club and supporter base crave 'relevance' and being respected by others.

Believe we should be confident to develop our own footy department without resorting to perceived messiah in Lyon. Need to develop so we respect ourselves and not give a flying f..k what others think.

Do not think he is the answer, posters also think he would be aware of his weaknesses that may be the case does not mean he or anyone else will do anything about them.

If he is appointed there needs to be a clear succession plan - development of others in place.
