Yeh, agreed and as much as I wanna gloat about being a leader of the “this extension is stupid” crowd the sacking and review is a step in the right direction.
It’s egg on our face.

But we got to the right decision.

So they need to explain their process and what they uncovered and the plan forward.

If they can’t do all of that. We are a laughing stock.

If we can. If we have a plan that is fleshed out. It’s water off a ducks back.

I think Roos, Ross, or Williams and a successor is really what we need.

None of the three mentioned are long term solutions but the can help create a culture of sustained success, and this club needs stability.

Jesus Christ mate, chill.

I’m not saying you’re wrong I’m simply pointing out that something like “petty” is extremely subjective and Ratts might just have a reason (that no one would blame him for” for being mad about what’s happened.

Ultimately whatever reason Ratts thinks he’s been sacked for or even told he’s been sacked for isn’t going to matter a lick to a supporter base who watched us go from top 4 to bottom 8 in 12 weeks and has seen one final in his 3 year tenure.

Petty or not the reason he’s done is performance or lack thereof.
That's correct , just saying what i was told

Hardly a disaster ...... happens in Soccer all the time

Manager gets contract ..... gone 8 games later
They also play 50 games a year mate - with private ownership who can fund these **** ups and they can rebuild a squad to excellent quality in one summer.

Limitations here with the oval ball.

John Longmire missed out a few times didn’t he? He certainly missed out to Ross Lyon at least. We need a new Ross that is more offensively minded. Was maddening in the end to have a game plan that was first to 60 then hold on for the win. Not to mention the lack of investment in up and coming players like Lynch.

With the way, footy has changed he would need a complete overhaul of his philosophy.

His Freo and old St Kilda game plans would end up looking worse than what we dished out with Ratts this year.

We need high standards.

We need expectation.

We need a coach who is sure of themselves. Not trying to work out what they are on the fly.

We as a club, need to know what we have in the next 12 months. If this list needs more juice or if we blow it up to a degree.

Only a genuine experienced campaigner will be definitive with that
I think we can do both, similar to Lyon in the period you mentioned, McRae at Collingwood. Even Chris Scott in 2011, taking the Cats to a flag in his first year (granted they had a great side but still).

I'm not sure bringing in a tried coach for 12 months would work unless it's in a succession plan, which I am okay with as a plan B to just going in fresh.

I couldn't give a flying feck what you or your mate think , the bloke that i spoke to this morning was meant to be having dinner with him on Wednesday night but Ratts Mrs was sick so they didn't catch up.

If what i posted had been posted by a few other select posters i bet you wouldn't have questioned them , how dare another poster have some info

Sure you did. You believe nobody on here, always bagging people who have had good info, now lose your rag when turned back on you. :)

I just had a long chat to my mate who is very close to Ratts and he said at this point he cant tell me the reason he was sacked but said when he tells me in a week or two when things settle down he said i would laugh as its that petty.
Anyone thinking its to do with Hunter well he told me its nothing to do with it , Ratts was told around 8.00 last night so it sure didn't take long for word to get out.
My mate said Brett is just gutted but knew what he was getting himself into , also my contact doesn't believe anyone specific is being targeted for the new Head coach role
Probably 100% spot on.

I will add that in these circumstances. “PETTY” is subjective.

If multiple people felt a certain way. It isn’t petty. It’s an issue.

My brother is getting married this Saturday the absolute imbecile. Just arrived at the venue, currently standing on a hill in the pitch black at this beautiful farm, straining for reception, reading these developments with glee!!

(I take no joy in Ratts losing his job, but thought it was wrong to re-sign him under the circumstances we did.)
At least you’re not over on the east coast here. That wedding would be 2 metres underwater

Huge wraps on him
Was at West coast last year freo got him this year.
West coast were gutted
Is a key reason for freos surge this year Similar coach to Justin longmuire
Knew he was at the Eagles but that was pretty much it. Might have to look into him a bit. This is a tumultuous time but it's low-key exciting. Ratten wasn't getting us to a flag, we have now an opportunity to bring in a quality appointment to oversee a playing group with lots of untapped potential.

Collingwood had a soft draw and there is no way they win so many close ones again.

An NFL coach got sacked this week who had $40mil left on his contract.
If the coach isn’t the one to lead you to the holy grail then cut your losses.
Ratten was that. I support the move albeit the extension was stupid in the first place and he should’ve been sacked 6 weeks ago.

Yeah probably true on the winning front but they did stack up against both GF teams in big finals and I think winning so many close ones goes from just pure luck to some method in the madness. They're a well drilled side.

Can't say I agree with you

Plenty of issues at the Bullies currently and they were bog standard average this year

Bevo seems to have a lot of baggage

Dogs have never finished top 4 under Bevo and couldn't even win the flag when over the salary cap!!

His complete disregard for KPPs reminds me of GT refusing to put any stock into the ruck bin 04/05

Too much is made of our 8_3.

First half had much softer draw.

King won a couple with one quarter bursts, which were then shut down by opposition coaches.
Agree with this. Always felt unsustainable. We were in the top 4 but not as rock solid as the other company we had up there.

I’d still argue a new coach bounce like that is the exception. Not the rule.

There just really isn’t a standout untried candidate and the experienced ones have obvious warts and warnings. If there was - we wouldn’t have posters all wanting so many different people.
