I remember as well, in fact, we are still trying to rebuild from the Lyon era.

If we do get him back into coaching will he bail after a couple of years if someone offers him a bigger cheque ?
bolloks the shit we are in right now has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with Ross's time at the club.

Also a structure he’s never worked under before and may not suit his style and application at all.

You talk about others ignoring stuff but you’re doing the same and it’s the exact point most people are making.

Ross might be the best fit but we don’t know that right now, run a panel led process to see if what he is now is all the best bits of what he was 8-10 years ago with the malleability to work in the new system we want to run.

If he is and he’s the best candidate then sign him up for sure.

You’re just making the assumption that he’s what he was but better in spite of there being zero evidence that’s the case.
If the club doesn't any XXXXXXL size club blazers then the fitness guy and the club dietitians should work with Ross and get him down to a blazer size we do have. He's been in a good paddock has Ross.

Ross last winning season was 2015, what went wrong for him?
Yes but he was in WA so that's more like 1985 in real terms.

Seriously, what does this team look like if they're fit? What does it look like if every single player is giving 110% because not doing that means you're playing 2nds.

Does Ross take this team to a flag? I don't know, but I think he will at the very least get more out of what we have than other coaches have in the past.

If we don't at least reach out to anyone else and listen to their pitch, we will have been negligent in the appointment.

If we investigate everyone and end up with Ross, that's fine. But we can't have tunnel vision on only him based off his coaching 8 year ago.

Don't get my hopes up
He did have high standards
My personal favorites
"we are a no excuse football club"
"failure is feedback"
"anyone, anywhere anytime"
"we support the person and challenge the behaviour"
"action builds confidence"

Go saints
Massive fan of “anyone, anywhere, anytime.”

The amount of excuses that come out of our club and get regurgitated by fans after losses since Ross left is disturbing.

If he just fixes that one thing and gets some resilience into this group, it will have a huge impact on our ladder position.

How about this paragraph from zerhanger.com

As the cold light of day breaks on yet another St Kilda submission for the most dysfunctional organisation in the history of sport, fans are rightly wondering, what next? Having sacked coach Brett Ratten within four months of extending his contract, the club is reeling.
Who’s reeling? Most of us are rapt!

There's no point Stav. You are so gung ho for Ross and that's all good. I just hope that it's the correct one.

Because if not. The club will be lucky to survive.
Club will survive this and then we will survive the next coach we sack and the one after that as well

I am amazed at the pro Lyon support coming from this forum. Will laugh my ass off if this comes to fruition. So St Kilda.

Should also hire Ronald McDonald as the forwards coach to finish with a bang!
He's already coaching the men's test team...you're too late

What’s with the Lyon last coached in the dark ages? Surely we know what coach he will be. Need to decide if we can mitigate his flaws (offence and leaving lifts screwed by lack of regeneration, any others?).

Hear you 100%. There are a bunch of factors here we cannot determine until the guy is actually in the job and that even a panel process will not reveal.

They are vulnerable to me. Changed the list up significantly, close wins that were somewhat miraculous at times. Of the top 4 teams, they look the most likely to struggle to reload. It will be interesting to see if Sydney get the GF slaughter hang over too.
Much harder draw…..oh, wait, it’s Collingwood so maybe not.

Those thinking the club need to get the next appointment right or it’s over are either opposition supporters or new supporters. The club has and will nearly always be a basket case. That’s the reason I love the club. The club will also survive whether we make the right or wrong decision. The big question is will is older people be alive to see a right decision. If you are young don’t worry we will be around for as long as the afl is. No side could be as bad as us and last 149 years if we weren’t born to survive. We had no right to even be in the vfl and to stay in the vfl after losing the first 48 games of the start of the vfl. And then win our first game on protest. Born to survive but not succeed. Actually love that to be our moto.

He was last successful as a coach 8 years ago.

They say a weeks a long time in footy…

It bears consideration that there was no soft cap, no 6-6-6, stand, rotation limits were different etc etc. the last time he was good.
