I thought I'd start a thread where everyone can post their trade ideas :D
For the record I think we should be targeting, but not necessarily getting all of: P. Dangerfield, H. McIntosh, M. Clark, T. Walker and Jesse White as a smokey :D

Re: The Trade Thread

Jacob Surjan: We have too many of his type of player

Jesse White: I dont think Sydney will part with him and I dont think he is good enough

Hamish McIntosh: I don't think he is worth the risk

Danyle Pearce: Yes please. Shouldn't cop a tag in our team and could add some pace and dash to the side

Patrick Dangerfield: Would love him but NO chance.

Mitch Clark: Should be our number one trade target but it will be hard to match the riches of GWS.

Taylor Walker: Maybe. Bit too erratic for my liking.

Yeah I'm really interested in picking him up but didn't know what you guys would think. He would definitely add some pace, I'm fairly sure he's still the fastest in the AFL, clocking 100m in 10 seconds

Gotta agree with you mate, would be great to get Dangerfield but cant see that we could afford him. Pearce & Walker will end up at GWS i reckon but well worth having a crack.. Pearce could be bit like Peake and really add something

Re: The Trade Thread

Add Jacob Surjan and maybe Danyle Pearce to that list

Agreed that Pearce could potentially add something, but there's better options out there.

We went all out and landed Lovett, imagine what Ross could do with a younger, far more talented, quicker and let's face it a far better bloke out of contract at the end of the season.

Mitch Clarke 2nd ruck / FF swap would be really really beneficial.

Re: The Trade Thread

You can scratch McIntosh off the list, because he is only a ruckman.

I can understand going after a Jesse White, Mitch Clark or similar type because they are ruckmen/forwards, but the ideal situation is Rhys Stanley takes the next step.

We now have Gamble and Siposs battling for the third medium forward spot.

Do we have any other glaring needs? If we are a couple of years away from a flag (when the core are 28-29), then it may just be better to pick another bunch of kids this year and look to top up the next year when draft picks will be more valuable in a bumper draft.

Re: The Trade Thread

pearce is an interesting proposition, but i'm unsure the club is going to be willing to give up too much in the way of draft picks. we certainly have a greater eye on the future nowadays after the lacklustre development of our 3rd/4th year players. pearce would be a bit expensive methinks.

dangerfield no chance, similar reasons to above.

i agree mitch clarke should be a big target. i worry what we'd have to give up/pay the kid, but we will need a second ruck man and also someone who can play forward.

having said all that, depending on how fevola goes for the rest of the year, for some reason i have a growing feeling we'll give him a chop out....

Re: The Trade Thread

We need our new football manager Chris Pelchen to pluck one or two mature-age recruits from one of the state leagues.

Players of the same design as Nick Duigan, Rhys Conca, Ed Curnow, Paul Puopolo etc are what we need to boost our depth and keep sub-standard players from getting a game in our side.

Anyone spotted anyone suitable from Sandy?

Re: The Trade Thread

We loaded up on speedsters in last year's draft, might be the place to look again. Would like to see us pick up a big man or two, Mitch Clark, Jesse White, Dawson Simpson, Taylor Walker or Trent West.

Re: The Trade Thread

The one thing Fev has in his favour he will be CHEAP.

As a second tall forward I'd rate hime above Kosi, but if we went in Riewoldt/Fevola, what happens with rucks? Clarke obviously adresses this need better.

We are doing something wrong if none of Stanley, Archer, Walsh, turn into anything.

Re: The Trade Thread

Don't know why we would get White when we have stanley, they're similar players.

Add Tom Swift.

Any chance of getting one of those 17yos or nothing we want to trade?

Not sure about Tom Swift, has pretty suspect disposal skills. I think I'd rather get Chris Masten than Swift. Masten seems to be on the outer at West Coast and hasn't lived up to expectations as a no.3 draft pick but still has potential to be a decent player. Wouldn't want to give up too much for him though.

Pearce from Port would be handy too and probably a lot more gettable than someone like Dangerfield.

Re: The Trade Thread

What pieces do you lads have available out of curiousity. In the yonger band, guys who may be currently on the fringe of struggling to get a game, ala Lynch etc.

Re: The Trade Thread

You got to give something to get something. So everyone is saying lets get the gun player and that gun player, but no one is saying what we would have to give up to get them and some names thrown up would demand massive compensation.

What Saints players do you guys think will be either retired, delisted or offered for trade at the end of the year?

Clarke and Walker if getting traded are 90% going to end up at GWS.

If Kosi and Gamble are going to remain on the list (which is most likely) than there isnt a position for White.

Re: The Trade Thread

In all honesty, if giving up Armo meant getting Clark, Dangerfield or someone long those lines I'd do it. Maybe even swap our 2nd rounder with their 3rd rounder as well.

Re: The Trade Thread

I think we'll be quiet in trade week once again. We have a promising bunch on >23 year olds (Gamble, Lynch, Siposs, Cripps, Ledger, Crocker, Curran, Steven). Adding four or five more kids, with our usual couple of mature reclaimation projects, should suffice as we rebuild again.

Over on the dark side (Saintsational), people are starting to compare 2011 to 2008. Everyone remember we loaded up for 2009 by trading only for Farren Ray, and drafting Lynch, Stanley, Heyne, Cahill, Smith & Colm Begley. After 2009 we drafted only Winmar, Johnson, Jesse Smith and Adam Pattison. I see this year's draft following more the 2008/2010 pattern.

Re: The Trade Thread

I'm not big on getting more recycled players. Obviously you get some of the names mentioned if you can and the cost isn't high, but I think the club has done a pretty good job drafting the past couple of years and I'd rather see them go that route again.

Re: The Trade Thread

Guys coming out of contract according to TS:

Jack Steven
David Armitage
Sam Gilbert
Rhys Stanley
Zac Dawson
Farren Ray
Clint Jones
Raph Clarke
Steven Baker
Jason Blake
Dean Polo
Andrew McQualter
Robert Eddy

That list isn't complete, so unsure about these guys below, fair few you wouldn't think would be locked in for next year tho:

Paul Cahill
Willy J
Gardy
Pretty sure Dempster only scored a one year deal on the final day of list submissions. Could be wrong.
Gears
Lynch
Peakey
Walsh
Archer
Heyne

Stanley, Steven, McEvoy and Smith all re-signed last year but no idea how long for.

Re: The Trade Thread

Nice work CH. Im very surprised to see Steven, Armo and Gilbert on that list! Still not signed? What

Re: The Trade Thread

If we were to take part in the 4 17 yr olds mini trade, who could we use that would likely get one?
Zac Dawson?
Jason Gram?
Sam Gilbert?
