Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

As in Jed Adams from Peel?

TBH I probably have about 8-9 key defenders in this years draft ahead of him. I'd give him a list spot if he wanted a trade next year but not for anything above a mid third round pick and that's if he continues to improve in the VFL.

I have seen a lot of him but only the one game this year and it wasn't his best. He is however a first year key defender playing against men in the VFL so you don't expect a heap.

I would say he's someone to watch out for but not one i'm super excited about. I thought he was a bit of a reach last year.
No I meant Murphy being drafted by the Eagles

Bazzo has two issues.

1. His disposal is average. Not terrible but just average for a KPD
2. He doesn't play taller than his height so will get monstered against 197-202cm talls

He is however an absolutely great kid who will give his absolute best to improve and has been through a lot. I expect to see him really come on in the second half of next year.
Any young player you think will really step up next year?

I don't see him ever being a KPD, more a tall flanker.
His point of difference is that he can play on either a third tall and also smalls, I see a Brad Shep type role for him.
He does cover the ground well for his size.

I think he has a very bright future with us.

You have to feel for him with he has had to endure, with the shitty cards he has been dealt off field, heart goes out to him and his sister having lost parents when they were / are so young.

The family has been through a lot and were a real bright spark for the Peel footy club. Very much loved and both receiving a lot of support. He's a really good young kid and really deserves to come back this preseason and have the club treat it as though 2023 never happened and bring him on as a second year rather than third year player.

He supposedly announced at Brisbane's grand final supporter gathering on Sunday he was staying, would be surprised if we get him.

Mind you there's a difference between "I'm staying!!!!" and "I'd love to stay..." depending on how it was said.
Dane Beams vibes… if it’s not announced at the B&F within the next hour I’d say he’s heading west and will be announced tomorrow.

I think he has the tools to be a genuine star FB. I am very intrigued to see his testing at the combine.
Surely Swans take him with their first, they're desperate for a KPD. I know he'll take a while to come on, but seems logical.

Thoughts on Will Dawson? I want to go back and watch his champs games playing kpd. Could be an option in 30s and is 200cm.

He hasn't developed it, it has always been there, was a vicious and nasty sledger, who could dish it out but sook up like *, when it was turned about, back at him.
Takes the high moral ground when it suits his narrative, but his standard go too, is and always has been hitting below the belt.

He is one of those malcontent tossers in life, that justify themselves, by invalidating others.
My wife refers to him as Kane Toad, which I think is an excellent call - though possibly a little insulting to actual cane toads.

ECE I rate Murphy as a better defender than O,Sullivan but O'Sullivan a better footballer.
Murphy a true lock down close checking defender, O'Sullivan has much more versatility and flair, he is touted to go before Murphy, which I think he will.
Murphy will have a lot of Clubs interested in him as he is the best tall pure defender, in this cohort.

Dawson from the little I have seen of him worries me, because he just isn't clean enough by hand, mind you he looks like a gangly baby giraffe running around Kruger National Park, so he is probably still coming to terms with his growing body.

Mrs Monocle calls him Cornhole.

The problem I have is what not drafting Reid looks like.

We take Curtin with 2. Our midfield is still dangerously underdone. Curtin as a developing third tall doesn't fix our crap midfield. Hewett and Ginbey aren't the king chess piece required. They're the queen and the knight. We need the centrepiece, as much as I'd like Dan Curtin, I see our list being incomplete without Reid or McKercher.

I feel the difference between one and two is what 2007 was for 2 and 3. Cotchin or Masten.

Big, big gap.

Here’s the thing, and I say this with no real interest in north giving up any of our hand to go from 2 to 1, is Reid the midfielder your best chance at the best kid in the draft?

I’m not sure he’s a centrepiece mid. Best prospect in the draft, don’t get me wrong, but there are compelling arguments to say he’s not the best mid in the draft long term.

I see him as Luke Hodge.

Reid has poor endurance and that’s just a fact at present. Obviously it will get better but it is unlikely to ever be a strength.

The eagles might be able to get the best mid in the draft and a heap more by trading pick 1.

Interesting takes.

I like Dawson and think he might be the best stopper of the 3.

Position aside Reid looks like a game winner and that's why I hope we take him.

Dominoes starting to fall.

Doodee nominates Lions. Cap pressure pushes out Dev.

Crows gets 3rd round compo. Trade to Eagles for Rotham.

Eagles send 3rd rounder to Lions for Dev.

Pick up Ruscoe as DFA to cover 3rd tall defender depth. Along with Brockman and Flynn.

In: Flynn UFA , Robertson, Brockman and Ruscoe DFA

Out: Rotham and pick 53.

Eagles need the best contested and most competitive footballer In the draft and that is Harley. We could handle a suite of top end players that can as a trio cover. Optus was 3/4 full and we were rubbish. It is full when we are in or around finals.

Norf need to sell hope and get the Docklands more than half full. You need him for membership, marketing and on field. You have assembled a very good midfield and I cannot see why you need McKercher, Curtin or Sanders. Your list is massively better with Reid, O’Sullivan and Murphy.

I want Harley. I will take a grandfather offer but that will feel like you are being screwed over but just grin and bear it as you will be better in the long run

I would think that’s destined for more of a sure thing.

But I’d bloody love Dawson and ZZ in the early 20’s.

If he blitzes the combine as I expect he will.

It's going to be a long queue and some jostling, to get into pol position to take ZZ Top

meh those issues are pretty common in the AFL , its rare to find a perfect defender ..

Feels to me like Zakostelsky will be this years Ed Allan

Virtually unknown to all but a few a couple of months ago before being noticed late and then blitzing the combine

With the pecking order from roughly 11-40 varying significantly it wouldn’t surprise that ZZ Top moves into the top 15 in phantom drafts with a bullet by the time the draft rolls around
