All good to go that way but do we have the guts to say to those guys that is it thank you for your service?
I have a horrible feeling that we don't.

Yep, me too Dimma won't let his loved children go! Some people may say it is sad to go this way after what they have given us but I Look at someone with the heart and soul of Richo giving his all game after game and come away with nothing these guys got more than most players ever will.

Exactly. The coach and/or the football boss need to make a few hard but necessary calls.

All good to go that way but do we have the guts to say to those guys that is it thank you for your service? The ones you mentioned only one I would keep for another year is Jack but even he is wearing thin on me does some stupid things now. When we were still in it along the boundary we had him and two others and he does a tap on without looking straight to their one player. He should also get on with the game as stop pestering with the umpires we have it bad enough with them why escalate it.
Jacks done those things for years though and it's worked 90% of the time.

Houli will pull the pin himself I think.
There is still a spot for cotchin but his role needs to change.
Caddy should be pushed out this season to anyone that will take his contract over.
There were rumours astbury was going to hang up the boots last season so maybe he will this year. I think he can go one one more. Our midfield pressure has been woeful at it gives our defence no chance. How many times did gc and saints have free men up the field? I can't recall once when we had the same with ball in hand? That stuff crucifies defenders.

To be honest it's been like that all season. The only difference now is that our confidence is completely shot. I always expect us to win when I go to a game or watch on TV, but I can honestly see us losing every game from here. There's nothing left in the tank, unfortunately.

If we want to stay up and have another crack making the most of the guys we have I think Narkle would be a good addition but Tom Mitchell is a MUST. We need someone who can win the contested ball. Our system worked for a long time but that is dead now, we have been flogged because we lose the contested ball/clearances and are on the back foot from the start.

No way we go for Mitchell or Wallis or anyone who only has a few years left.

I'm not against trading in players, but it needs to be players on the right side of 25. Guys like Cerra, Ainsworth and Narkle. Tom Green would be fantastic if we could somehow find a way to make it happen.

I am saying if we think we can go again next year with Edwards, Jack etc then we must get Mitchell in and have a red hot crack. If we want to go younger and build back up in a few years time then I am all for the younger guys but right now the biggest hole in our list is that midfielder who can get high 20's and 30s numbers to win us enough ball.

Our side is full of holes atm. Topping up with Tom Mitchell isn't going to suddenly make us a top team again.

We need a fresh group of young mids. Adding Cerra, Green, Ainsworth, Narkle, etc. would make us a much better side next year and beyond

I agree, we need players under 25-26 now. I wouldn't go for Tom Mitchell, etc, etc.

We need multiple types of players too, I don't think we can afford to get just 1 A grader. I'd rather see us get a batch of B graders if we can to do jobs (i.e. when we got Prestia, Caddy and Nank at the time). These guys win flags as a collective.

Spot on.This is where the missed picks of Corey Ellis and Lennon start to hurt us in that age bracket. We've done a great job covering those mistakes but the age gap on the list is there now .

Prestia was and is an A grader tho. Nank was the perfect low cost high impact pick that we should be targetting. Go for those guys that aren't getting opportunities (Nankle) and can make an instant impact in our best 22

We need to draft a mobile key forward in the riewoldt mould. What is the obsession with 200cm key forwards? Bring in a guy like Riewoldt, Jesse Hogan etc. with a ready made body. So many keys who are lumbering and not mobile are costly and have more bad games than good. Lynch (who we must baseour forward line around given his contract) would play best with a Riewoldt type and then Dusty permanent forward.

Need to let as many players go as possible who have had their run, bring in Cerra, then draft 1 big bodied mid, one mobile and quick key forward in the JR mould, then some pace. As well as elite users at their draft age. We genuinely have no good kicks in the team, which is amazing given it is the most important part of AFL football.

Sorry, in my post I said C graders – I meant B graders. I think Prestia wasn't an A grader at the time... he's become an A grader and probably gone further than we'd expect of him when we recruited him.

It's the one aspect of Hawthorn that we could look at emulating. They always draft players who are excellent kicks. I don't think it would hurt us to do the same.

Prestia was better at GC than he is at Richmond?

Prestia was 100% an A grader at the GC and has played some A grade footy at the tigers when his body has allowed.
