We need to draft a mobile key forward in the riewoldt mould. What is the obsession with 200cm key forwards? Bring in a guy like Riewoldt, Jesse Hogan etc. with a ready made body. So many keys who are lumbering and not mobile are costly and have more bad games than good. Lynch (who we must baseour forward line around given his contract) would play best with a Riewoldt type and then Dusty permanent forward.
Jarrod Brander could be the guy. Would probably come relatively cheap because he's not been given the chance in his preferred position at the Eagles. They've tried to turn him into a wingman because of their abundance of talls.

I'd trade a second rounder for him.

We were keen on him draft night

Time to put my balls on the line. Here is how I see it

Out: Houli, Astbury, Eggs, Caddy, Chol, Naish, Garth

In: 4th round for Chol, 3/4 Round for Caddy`

I would love for us to package some of our second rounders and 3rd rounders for the Dogs 18 so they don't have to waste a huge first rounder on a father son who is looking like a top 10

Love your trade info Tiger71 but tell us what the issues are behind the scenes at Richmond. There's obviously something going on because this fall from grace is now embarrassing and an absolute disgrace.

Think its a perfect storm mate.

Injuries have been a huge factor, now that is not an excuse but a fact. Till the bye rounds we had consistently 10 of our top 22 players out. We still managed however to still win more games then we lost so that was a positive. What's also hurt us is that the past fortnight after getting players back who in my opinion are still under done, we also have hand players injured during games, 4 against the saints and 3 against GCS.

Let me be clear, that is not the only reason why we lost but IMO it has an effect and you asked my opinion.

So we have a playing list who has played a taxing game plan the past 4 years, great success which means an extra 16 weeks of high intensity footy. Add the fact this off season was dramatically shorter then normal and its a longer season, our older boys bodies broke. It's not because dimma has lost the players and other rubbish in my opinion it is the fact our older types have been really exposed with the way the game's changed due to the rule changes, stack on shorter preseason which in turn increases our injury toll and boom we are where we are. Also lets not forget we are an assistant coach short due to the 100k fine. We have not been able to replace Leppa due to it and have had to change our coaches across all lines to compensate.

Is it disaster time ? Yes if you think footy stops this year and never is played again. IMO its not a disaster and may be a blessing in disguise. If we make the 8 great but if we dont we have a fantastic draft hand, we have a few fantastic targets we have identified to bring into the club. We wont have a dramatically shorten pre season like this year, so we can have full conditioning that our list needs and we still, make no mistake have very good players at the club.

I am happy to wager against anyone that we will play at minimum a PF next year. So those writing us off are more hoping so without looking at the big picture.

I am saying if we think we can go again next year with Edwards, Jack etc then we must get Mitchell in and have a red hot crack. If we want to go younger and build back up in a few years time then I am all for the younger guys but right now the biggest hole in our list is that midfielder who can get high 20's and 30s numbers to win us enough ball.
I know what you mean but I really hate the idea of trading wth Hawthorn.

Number 1 target needs to be a midfielder who can win their own ball or is bash and crash and can pressure like crazy. Prestia and Nankervis out of our midfield rotation leaves us scarily exposed and Cotch is extremely down on form. Need to replace Prestia and Citch sooner rather than later or else we are in for a world of hurt given our best gameplan relies so heavily on midfield pressure from stoppages.

Valuable input as always Tigs. A few of us got a little carried away last night I guess.

Injuries have taken a toll without a doubt we have been without a recognised ruck and midfield to , but that's just to simplistic for me signs we're there early on in the season when we had minimal Injuries we weren't switched on and not playing well people we're expecting it was going to happen like previous years when body's come back.We haven't handled 2021 well at all.The drop of in skills and kicking , turnovers from senior players is really bad

You just know Rioli’s never gonna be the player he was for us pre 2018 but will tear it up elsewhere. It will be Jay Schultz all over again

Yet early on in the year, we started getting injuries from round 1 we started flat due to the shorten season and being still way under done. That is what I believe to be the incase instead of the OMG players hate dimma cause he left his wife angle

Doubt it. Schulz lived in the shadow, in a poor team. Had potential.

Rioli doesn't look interested. Massive difference.

I always liked Sarge - didn't we play him out of position in the back-line too?
Was always only going to be a forward....

Me too, I loved him! Even at Port I was happy to see him do so well.

They played him off HB for a bit and it really didn't work. The guy was proven to kick bags of goals in the VFL and even at AFL but didn't persist. Such a waste (for us, not Port).

Very accurate kick for goal too - 67.5% over his career - and could take a fair hanger!

Exactly my thoughts too, the players look physically and emotionally drained.

They all need a freshen up and extended break away from football, players and coaches alike.

My hope is that with such an excellent draft hand that we might emulate the Hawks of '83-'91 where they won 5 premierships, were R/U 3 times and finished 5th in 1990 (my Dad was a Hawk fan) Maybe this year is 'our' 1990

Hardwick has not lost the players, grow up

The man left a marriage he was unhappy in - 44 people don't hate him for it.
