Sam Walsh or Higgins, Ellis and Lennon? Depends if 4 was one of the picks.

Bryce Gibbs or Bontempelli, Oliver and Fyfe?

It can go either way. If you look at the number 1 picks of the last 20 years, the crop isn't that great. A couple of generational players, decent amount of good to very good but quite a few you'd be disappointed with for various reasons.

That’s actually a very good side floggo. Top four definitely. Don’t know if we’d stop the Melbourne juggernaut but we’d give it a shake. Glad you’ve dumped Kamdyn and Jason.

Going to disagree with two things here. Firstly im sick of hearing about the Dees juggernaut. They were great this year in sept but we were seen to be unbeatable in 2018 and didn’t even make the GF. This a sport and no one is unbeatable- why even turn up if you reckon someone else has the next flag already wrapped up?

Also the McIntosh hate is harsh. Yeah his disposal is only average but if you focus on what he does do instead of what he doesn’t you’ll see he is a great 2 way runner, works back to help out in defense. He keeps his width really well to provide release options, he’s strong and good size so can be physical against smaller wingers like Hill, Langdon, Hunter etc.
You can’t have a team of A graders so he plays his role really well - just needs to improve disposal.

Funny watching all these fan bases fighting over Bobby Hill. What a bloody sad and desperate offseason it's been for some clubs.

Never kicked more than 2 goals in a game and only had more than 14 disposals once.

What. A. Gun.

Juggernaut hey, easily impressed.
Let’s see how they go with the harder draw and more than one injury next season.

The Herald Sun gave a hypothetical B22

B: Grimes, Balta, Vlaustin

HB: Rioli, Tarrant, Broad

C: Short, Martin, McIntosh

HF: Lambert, Lynch, Bolton

F: Edwards, Riewoldt, Baker

Foll: Nankervis, Prestia, Cotchin

Int: Graham, Stack, Pickett, Soldo

I kinda think it would work if we kept Pickett as a mid rotation. Though I think more likely we will have more young kids in the engine room due to injury. This is the year where our medical team really needs to make their pay check if we don't trade in any talent.

I think you’re spot on... I found myself getting fired up at K-Mac, George, Aartsy and Shorty.... but if we replace these guys with better talent, our salary cap explodes and if we replace them with kids we finish 12th again.
Not many affordable players would survive in our system

Th Dees actually played their better footy against the top teams and had losses to th bottom sides 🤪

Need two wingers potentially unless macca can step up
Get one or draft one then. If he plays 22 games he's either improved 100% or we have injuries again. His best game was his first. Gap between his best and worst is huge
Ralph-Smith hopefully comes on in 22.

Outstanding team on paper, easily top 2 or 3 talent wise.

Keeping key personnel ie Martin, Prestia,Edwards Lynch fit and firing is the key.

Whoever penned that team nailed it with the small forward set up👍

I worry that without our top-end veterans we wouldn't have enough talent to challenge beyond 2022.
I acknowledge that we will bring in some quality draftees this off-season, but they will likely take 4+ years to reach their potential. I feel that we are likely to contend in 2022 then again between 2026-2030.
Well hopefully the cubs that are already there can fill some of the void in the meantime. But i'm with Calcium Man here.We need another A grader to replace Cotch & injury prone Prestia if we're to keep this window ajar.
Hopefully it'll either come via this years trade/draft(Pick 2 would be sensational)/Mitchell(At the right price) or my favorite.FA next year.

From an outsiders point of view I can see this draft setting you up for a long time to come in cluding next years draft.
I could see you trading pick 38 for St Kilda's future second as they need point for Marcus Windhager who is likely to get a bid in the mid 20's.
Trading 28 and Pick 40 for 23 and a future 3rd rounder at the Bulldogs would also work out for both teams.
Then trade 26 and 15 for 11 and a future second rounder from Essendon with your third going back. That would leave you with 3 second rounders in 2022 which could easily be turned into higher picks with teams who require points for academy or father son selections. That would guarantee at least two first round selections in 2022 as well while you head to this years draft with 7, 11 and 23 as your main selections.
You could trade 23 for Ladhams if there was interest to get him to Richmond.
Yeah that could work.
But no chance of us getting Ladhams. We don't have the bottomless salary cap pit like the bloos.

Giving pick 15 for Mitchell is desperation. Giving good picks for older players in an attempt to stay relevant has never worked. Early picks and drafting astutely is the way to go. If Hawthorn want to clear these players out it’s not us who should be furnishing them with the quality picks and means to rebuild. If they want Mitchell out then the price should be low. 28 max or less and pay some of his salary. You don’t take on older players and risk your future by overlooking the best young talent you can get. Stuff Hawthorn,we don’t want to help them. If the intention is to go after Mitchell then screw them big time.
Personally I don’t think Mitchell will keep us in the premiership window.
yeah/nah.
Fors and Against.
While we got Dusty-yeah
Build a side around Dusty-Nah
I'd love another flag-For
Popcorn Draft night-Against.

Castagna deserves respect as a triple Premiership player who has clearly played a very selfless role his entire career which is why Dimma loves him. But he is the most unskilled player in the AFL bar none. Not many AFL players almost miss their hand when handballing, kick sideways when going for goal or run around like a headless chook quite like he does. But he obviously does something valuable for the team we don’t see so no harm having him there on $250k/season.

Nothing wrong being crowned the chaos king for the opposition and his team mates.:)

Not to mention a GF opponent who travelled to every state in Oz bar Vic during the finals.
