When you think of the whole JG thing, Unless it was a pick too good to refuse we really had nothing to gain from losing him apart from his salary
His value will only increase when he gets to free agency and at worst we get a similar pick if he decides to leave.

Jack has been played as a defensive mid since arriving at the club but with Tarantino & Whopper coming into the club we will become a more aggressive team and believe JG will play a similar role to what Lambert was doing with his running capacity.

We have more experienced depth whilst in our window and going for another premiership , We need 30 players to win a flag and until players lie Sonsie , Banks , Brown , Clarke , Dow develop into the players we hope they become we still need JG

Good result
F/S as well...

We also had a rumour on the BigFooty Tigercast that we were into a KPF from a bottom eight club.
I could be completely off the mark, but is it Kozitschke at the Hawks?

Cerra 10th in b+f from pick 6 and $700k and 'experts' saying Taranto and Hopper on $700k is too much (with two collective bargaining agreements across their contracts also)? Think if they play 18 games out of 22 (like Cerra did in 2022) they'll crack our top 10? LOL

View attachment 1523302

Lunch, D Rioli, Prestia, Bolton, Martin, Short, Vlaustin, Baker....they are no guarantee to have better seasons than these guys. If a Grimes or a Pickett can have standout seasons....T and H could easily find themselves at 10 or worse. Here's hoping they tie for first though!

Jack Graham is Brandon Ellis v2.0 very good role player who can be relied upon every week to do what is asked of him, but isn't necessarily a star of the game. Just like Ellis, when he left us for the offer too good to refuse from the Suns, Graham should take the opportunity to set himself up for the future and cash in by signing a a long term deal with Port or Adelaide if offered one.

No doubt we'd like to keep him, much the same way we wanted to keep Ellis, but it will be on our terms and if he can't remain in the 22, with the addition of Hopper & Taranto, plus the likes of Short Baker Ross & Sonsie all being capable of having more impact offensively, the odds are he might struggle to stay in the 22 and won't get the same sort of deal that he could possible sign now.

Perhaps , we may have wanted Ellis to leave given Richmond, should have got fair compo. Further setting up the rebuild/refresh at that stage.

Rather than getting screwed over as B Gale discussed on Twitter

I think we get it done early as well. Probably for a fair bit less than what people are expecting as well.
Hoping for something like.

Out: 12, 19, 30
In: Taranto, Hopper, 40, 60

It's very feeble admittedly.
Brenton Mann (Talking Tigers podcast and VFL correspondent) liked a tweet that had a video of McAsey being interviewed about flying to Melbourne to meet with clubs.
My theory is why would he like this specific tweet.
We also had a rumour on the BigFooty Tigercast that we were into a KPF from a bottom eight club. McAsey isn't really a KPF but more a KPP that has the ability of being a swing man, apparently.

My thumb accidentally on purpose liked this tweet: could be deciphered a) I liked your tweet. b) thumb slipped and cbf'd undoing. c) screen froze. d)...... Since footy seasons over and people won't shut up about it Im gonna watch the Dahmer series. Hopefully no one interprets this to mean I'm into gay cannibal serial killers. Besides I'm more of a puts the lotion on the skin, Weiner tucking dancing to horses fan 😂😂😂😂

It may have been. I was just dot connecting lol. I do remember T71 saying something about him but it went nowhere. Maybe because Gunston decided to leave.

Team-by-team guide to the trade period: State of play for all 18 clubs

This year’s trade period promises to be one of the busiest yet, with predictions of significant player movement.

By Jon Pierik, Michael Gleeson, Peter Ryan, Ronny Lerner and Steve Barrett

Updated October 1, 2022 — 9.17pmfirst published at 5.0

ADELAIDE (finished 14th)

Draft picks:
5, 23, 78.

Who could be on the move: Matt Crouch was dropped three times in 2022 and spent the season’s last month stuck in the SANFL. He is contracted for one more year but has been urged to look for a new home. Big Billy Frampton is out of contract and seemingly Collingwood-bound. Contracted swingman Fischer McAsey, the sixth pick from 2019, hasn’t played an AFL game since 2020 and has been linked to a move to Carlton.
What do they need and who could they target: Adelaide need pace, goals and, given their long history of player exodus, a focus on SA-born talent. Izak Rankine ticks all those boxes. A five-year deal reportedly worth over $800,000 a season will be brokered to land Rankine from Gold Coast. It will cost the Crows their No. 5 selection as well as likely a 2023 third-rounder. Uncontracted Magpies wingman Caleb Poulter, a Woodville-West Torrens junior, has been linked to Adelaide.

BRISBANE LIONS (finished fourth)

Draft picks: 15, 34, 45, 70, 88.

Who could be on the move: The ironically named Dan McStay will leave Brisbane and join Collingwood as a free agent after nine years at the Gabba as the Magpies look to beef up their attacking zone of the ground, and young small forward Tom Berry wants to move to Gold Coast in search of more opportunities after managing only 20 games in four seasons.
What do they need and who could they target: The Lions are set to bolster their midfield stocks, with Bulldogs best and fairest Josh Dunkley nominating Brisbane as his club of choice. Dunkley has been one of the Dogs’ most consistent performers in the Luke Beveridge era and is fresh from producing probably the best season of his career. Jack Gunston will serve as a more than handy replacement for McStay up forward after the triple premiership Hawthorn sharpshooter announced he wants to head to the Gabba as a free agent.
On the move: Free agent Dan McStay is almost certain to become a Magpie.

CARLTON (finished ninth)

Draft picks: 10, 29, 63, 65, 83.

Who could be on the move: Paddy Dow, having won the VFL best and fairest, may seek greener pastures. Will Setterfield has been told he can explore his options, for the Blues will wait until after the trade period to determine if there is a spot for him.
What do they need and who could they target: The Blues need more run and grunt through the midfield, particularly missing an injured George Hewett late in the campaign. They are firmly in the hunt for Fremantle wingman Blake Acres, with club insiders hopeful what shapes as a three-year deal can be completed quickly. They have also been linked to Adelaide swingman Fischer McAsey, although they have cooled on him because of his recent injuries.

COLLINGWOOD (finished third)

Draft picks: 16, 43, 48, 49, 89.

Who could be on the move: Well, you haven’t been reading the paper if you aren’t across Collingwood so to recap: Brodie Grundy. He will probably cross to Melbourne in what amounts to a salary dump. The Demons want him to replace the outgoing Luke Jackson, Collingwood want more salary space not more than $900k a year tied up in a ruckman. The likelihood is Collingwood pays about $300,000 a year and Melbourne give up a first-round pick. If Collingwood pay less they get a worse pick. Jordan De Goey and Collingwood had been wrangling over the terms of a new five-year contract - two years with a trigger for three more - for the restricted free agent. But the two parties have finally come to terms. Oliver Henry may be on the way to Geelong. Caleb Poulter has had some minor interest.
What do they need and who could they target: They will bring in key forward and second ruck Daniel McStay from the Brisbane Lions. He’s a free agent, so they get him for nothing. Will bring in Bobby Hill from Greater Western Sydney for a late pick and key-position player Billy Frampton from Adelaide to play key back and replace Jordan Roughead. They are interested in Tom Mitchell from Hawthorn but only if Grundy goes out. And they like Brayden Fiorini from Gold Coast - probably for a very late draft pick as a salary dump from the Suns.

ESSENDON (finished 15th)

Draft picks:
4, 22, 41, 59, 77.

Who could be on the move: At this stage it only looks as though out-of-favour key-position player Aaron Francis will be on the way out of Tullamarine. The former top-10 draft pick could only manage four games this season, for a career total of just 54 in seven seasons, and a fresh start for him at Sydney beckons. The Swans’ track record of turning the careers of maligned players around should enthuse him.
What do they need and who could they target: Desperately need a gun pressure small forward to replace Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti, while another key forward to assist Peter Wright and the emerging Harry Jones wouldn’t go astray either. One or two big-bodied midfielders would be high on the agenda, and some key defensive reinforcements would be welcome as well. The Dons are reportedly interested in talented St Kilda defender Hunter Clark, who has been strongly linked to North Melbourne.

FREMANTLE (finished sixth)

Draft picks: 13, 86.

Who could be on the move: A host of Dockers look set to be on the way out during this exchange period with wingman Blake Acres all but certain to wind up at Carlton and key forward Rory Lobb strongly linked to the Western Bulldogs. Meanwhile, Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker are reportedly intent on landing at North Melbourne. Ruckman Lloyd Meek has also been mentioned in trade dispatches.
What do they need and who could they target: With Lobb and Meek potentially departing, Fremantle need a big man to come into the club, and they’re in the box seat to get their hands on a very exciting one in Melbourne premiership ruckman Luke Jackson. The 21-year-old might have been slightly down this year on his 2021 output, but the way he helped guide the Demons to their drought-breaking flag suggests he has a bright future. Should form a lethal ruck combination with Sean Darcy. Gold Coast forward Josh Corbett is a target as well.

GEELONG (finished first)

Draft picks: 18, 37, 47, 52, 55, 61, 73, 91.
Who could be on the move: Joel Selwood, Shaun Higgins and Luke Dahlhaus have retired while five players were delisted. Francis Evans may join Port Adelaide as a delisted free agent providing a list spot is available while Quinton Narkle could attract some interest as a delisted free agent. Esava Ratugolea may consider whether he is better off exploring opportunities elsewhere. Speedster Max Holmes is contracted for the next two seasons while Cooper Stephens, who has battled to cement a spot, is locked in until 2023.

Tanner Bruhn wants to head to the Cats, having rejected a two-year deal to remain a Giant.

CREDIT:AFL PHOTOS

What do they need and who could they target: They don’t need much, but a key forward to replace Tom Hawkins and slot in alongside Jeremy Cameron is sure to be on their horizon in the next few years. They will look to trade in Tanner Bruhn from the Giants and hope to satisfy Collingwood with a deal for Oliver Henry. Both are locals taken in the 2020 national draft. Gold Coast’s Jack Bowes has been of interest to the Cats all season, but may come carrying a rare top-10 draft pick as a bonus. Their ruck situation seems reasonable as they have high hopes for Toby Conway and Shannon Neale, although they flirted with pursuing Brodie Grundy and their football department was very keen on Jordan De Goey.

GOLD COAST (finished 12th)

Draft picks: 7, 25, 32, 35, 44, 53, 68, 71, 80.
Who could be on the move: As has been the case for most of their existence, the Suns could lose a decent chunk of their playing list in the upcoming exchange period, but the collective quality of the 2022 edition of departures won’t hurt them too much in the long run. Outside of Izak Rankine, who wants to be traded to Adelaide, the likes of Jack Bowes, Josh Corbett, Brayden Fiorini and Jeremy Sharp have been on the fringes.

What do they need and who could they target: The Suns have all but secured the services of tough St Kilda defender Ben Long. List manager Craig Cameron doesn’t expect to wait too long for the paperwork to be lodged.

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY (finished 16th)

Draft picks: 3, 21, 40, 58, 60, 76.
Who could be on the move: The Giants will lose at least four prominent players, for Jacob Hopper and Tim Taranto want to join the Tigers on seven-year deals, Tanner Bruhn has nominated Geelong as his preferred destination, and Bobby Hill will head to Collingwood. Xavier O’Halloran, a first-round selection in the 2018 national draft, faces an uncertain future, as the Giants seek to ease their salary-cap pressures.
What do they need and who could they target: The Giants appear in a semi-rebuild. They have Melbourne forward Toby Bedford firmly in their sights. They have also met Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy, but the two parties are unlikely to become an item, according to Giants list boss, Jason McCartney.

HAWTHORN (finished 13th)

Draft picks: 6, 24, 50, 62, 79.
Who could be on the move: It shapes as a busy period for the Hawks, who are rebuilding. Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell is considering a trade to Collingwood and Jack Gunston has requested a move to the Brisbane Lions. The Hawks are keen to amass as many top-30 selections as possible.
What do they need and who could they target: The Hawks are officially in a rebuild. The retirement of skipper Ben McEvoy has opened the need for a ruckman, and Dockers back-up Lloyd Meek is firmly in mind. Port Adelaide midfielder-wingman Karl Amon has already signed a four-year deal in free agency. Amon is expected to pocket more than $600,000 a season.

MELBOURNE (finished fifth)

Draft picks: 33, 42, 51, 64, 69, 87.
Who could be on the move: Luke Jackson will move to the Dockers in a trade that will be one of the biggest of the off-season and unlock other deals. The deal will centre on at least two first-round draft picks. The Giants are keen on Toby Bedford, who has received an offer to stay at Melbourne, but Bedford is reported to have requested a trade to GWS, looking for more opportunities to play. The Eagles have shown interest in Jayden Hunt.
What do they need and who could they target: The Demons will negotiate a trade for Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy. They want him as a replacement for Jackson and to allow Max Gawn to play forward more. Collingwood will carry a large chunk of his salary - up to $300,000 a year. The draft pick they give up will depend on how much of his contract Collingwood carry.

NORTH MELBOURNE (finished 18th)

Draft picks: 1, 56, 67, 74.
Who could be on the move: Despite another year from hell for the Kangaroos, they look set to retain the players that they want to keep. Veteran ruckman Todd Goldstein and gun forward Cam Zurhaar, who were reportedly weighing up their futures during the year, decided to re-sign and stay at Arden Street.
What do they need and who could they target: A host of players from rival clubs have been linked to the Kangaroos. Fremantle duo Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker have expressed their desire to head to Arden Street and talented St Kilda youngster Hunter Clark is also understood to be contemplating a move there. Triple premiership player Brad Hill was also linked to the Roos, but that prospect has cooled.

PORT ADELAIDE (finished 11th)

Draft picks: 8, 27, 54, 57, 81.
Who could be on the move:
Smooth-moving wingman Karl Amon has already joined Hawthorn. Port are understood to be open to trading contracted ruckman Sam Hayes, but rival suitors are coy given he has played just seven senior games in five years. Speedy half-back Martin Frederick is uncontracted and may move elsewhere.

What do they need and who could they target: The Power’s shallow small-forward stocks look set to be boosted with the addition of Eagles livewire Junior Rioli. Despite the club’s desire for a first-round pick, the compensation for Amon comes in the second round – pick 27 – which remains a welcome addition as the club’s following picks come in the 50s. Port have missed out on Western Bulldogs best and fairest Josh Dunkley, who seems bound for the Brisbane Lions, and also Richmond’s Jack Graham, who visited the club’s Alberton headquarters last week, but opted against the Power.

RICHMOND (finished seventh)

Draft picks: 12, 19, 31, 85.
Who could be on the move: Jack Graham toured Port Adelaide, feeling he might be squeezed out of the Tiger midfield by the likely arrival of Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper, but the Tigers will be keeping him. They traded their third and fourth-round picks in this year’s draft, so they might look at trading players who could bring in a few picks as their first three picks are likely to go on bringing in the two GWS recruits.
What do they need and who could they target: The Tigers, as is well known, are trying to trade in Hopper and Taranto, both of whom have asked for trades to Richmond. That is going to cost them all three of this year’s draft picks at least and probably a shuffle of picks next year with the Giants.

[PLAYERCARD]Jacob Hopper[/PLAYERCARD] spoke with [PLAYERCARD]Jeremy Cameron[/PLAYERCARD] about a move to Geelong, but has ultimately decided to seek a trade to Richmond.

Jacob Hopper spoke with Jeremy Cameron about a move to Geelong, but has ultimately decided to seek a trade to Richmond.

ST KILDA (finished 10th)

Draft picks: 9, 28, 46, 82.
Who could be on the move: Ben Long has told the Saints he wants to head to Gold Coast. Hunter Clark and Jack Bytel have attracted interest, but Brad Hill’s manager says the linkman - on a hefty contract - is likely to stay.
What do they need and who could they target: The Saints say they will have a quieter trade period than in recent years, but the bottom line is this - their list failed to deliver the finals berth the club’s board had expected. They had offered Jordan De Goey a lucrative contract, but the Magpie agreed to terms with his club. Suns midfielder/defender Jack Bowes has been on the radar.

SYDNEY (finished second)

Draft picks: 14, 17, 36, 72, 90.
Who could be on the move: It’s pretty quiet on this front for the Swans following on from the recent re-signings of star forwards Lance Franklin and Tom Papley. Gun defender Jake Lloyd also appears as though he is on the verge of signing a new deal. Defender Harry Cunningham might consider a fresh start after only managing 10 games this year (which was partly due to injury and COVID).
What do they need and who could they target: As the grand final showed, their back line could do with some extra help, and that would probably explain why they are reportedly interested in Aaron Francis from Essendon. After producing the best season of his career in 2021, the 25-year-old Bomber failed to back that up this year, managing just four games. But if he lives up to the hype at the Swans that was generated around him when he was drafted, he could be a handy acquisition.
Lance Franklin: signed on for another year.

Lance Franklin: signed on for another year.
CREDIT:SCOTT BARBOUR

WEST COAST (finished 17th)

Draft picks: 2, 20, 26, 39, 75.
Who could be on the move: The Eagles were angry that Junior Rioli requested a trade to Port Adelaide, with the small forward arguing it will be closer to family. Jack Redden has retired.
What do they need and who could they target: The Eagles are into hard-running Demon Jayden Hunt, who played 20 games this year. The unrestricted free agent missed out on last year’s premiership despite also playing 20 games. They are also monitoring Luke Jackson’s bid to get to Fremantle, and could pounce if that bid falls through.

WESTERN BULLDOGS (finished eighth)

Draft picks: 11, 30, 38, 66, 84
Who could be on the move: Midfielder Josh Dunkley has already requested a trade to the Brisbane Lions, with the Dogs wanting two first-round picks in return. Fellow midfielder Lachie Hunter is also weighing up his future.
What do they need and who could they target: The Dogs need help in defence and up forward. Contracted Fremantle forward Rory Lobb wants to head to the Bulldogs, but the Dockers are playing hard ball. Former Carlton defender Liam Jones will return to his original home now that COVID-19 vaccination rules have been relaxed.

IF the club is contemplating making a play for McAsey, and that's a big IF, I'm all for it.
I've never seen the kid play, but based on him being a KPP and in the event that Jack or Big Sexy go down with injury we need more options other than Samson Ryan and Jacob Bauer.

I dont suspect he will cost anything substantial.
Not much downside to the move if im being honest.
I know some have said he is a spud, but I'd back in our program to get the best out of him.
I'd chuck Balta or Miller up fwd if injuries occur. Give Balta another year to develop his craft. We're almost too tall down back anyhow. Tarrant, Gibcus, Balta, Miller, Grimes, Broad. Having said that, we need to be drafting a KPF. So maybe McAsey is that development tall.

No way. Now we are getting our midfield sorted lets just leave Balta and Gibcus back. We have a 10 year pairing down there and will have a rock solid defence all year. Could be the best in the league. Shift Miller around if we have to but no doubt the club have a fwd lined up in they're already speaking with
