Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

Not every team wastes their small forwards like we have been
Given Yze just said he thought our forward pressure has dropped since 2018 can't see the idea of defensive pressure being the main role of the small forward changing all that much, if anything it'll probably ramp up if that's his view - can only hope he can find the right balance between defensive pressure and scoreboard pressure and not overdo it because I feel our smalls actually scored more goals back then.

Hmmm good point but the dees don’t have any pure pressure smalls so fingers crossed.

Does Daniel Rioli move back to a pressure forward?

Agree with that, but the KP forward needs are still very close to the top of our list. I can't imagine Kosi being worth too much, i think thats about where our aspirations are atm, surely. Either that or Chol

In the backline, what position exactly are you thinking needs the most attention? And what targets are available? I've always found great defences are built within and require time and development, they cannot be bought

Yes and no. Demons purchased one with May and Lever and won a flag.

I think our backline is in really good shape for 2024 and beyond… I actually think we have all the
pieces already. I’m not suggesting we don’t need to improve in the KPF area … just saying we don’t need to panic about getting a superstar.

Rookie list spots also count (otherwise, I don't see how Brisbane, for example, would've been able to go to the draft with 7 live picks with the senior list they had), which means that with 3 uncontracted players on the senior list, 2 players currently with real chances of leaving, Blakely retiring and 6 other rookies uncontraced, that leaves the Suns with 5 free spots on the senior list and 8 category 8 rookie spots (Suns have access to 9 players for Cat-A heading into next season, I believe, with McLaughlin the only rookie player with a contract for next season). I don't believe Hewago Oea needs to be elevated to the main list either.

So that leaves 13 free spots with 9 current picks, potentially becoming 11 or 12 picks (talks of either the Dogs' pick 36 or the Dog's F1 being apart of the deal, last I checked).

You can make that potentially 14 list spots depending on when they decide to announce Casboult's resigning.
Rookie spots count when you can expand your senior list from 36 to 38. Gold Coast senior list is maxxed so none of the rookie picks will count.

We also need to look to add some pace to our forward line.

Or maybe Yze returns D Rioli to the forward line and we see someone like Brown take his spot?

The unknown of a new coach is pretty exciting
I personally think our midfield is good but looks a lot better with the x factor and pace of bolton in there. I would play D Rioli forward and have him and bolton sway so one is always in there. Just my view

Correct he is a known quantity and I'd rather keep him as depth for the 2024 season and then move him on next year if he doesn't improve in a new system.
Would like to see him play key back and then assess him

His best football at the club was/is off HB.Teamates look for him.He creates run.
HF he's along side Dusty.Teamates won't be looking for Dan.
Be a waste putting him in the wasteland role again.

It will be interesting to see how Yze uses him, thats for sure.

I still believe though that what's best for Dan's form is not necessarily best for Richmonds form. Our backline has been below average to average in his tenure down back. As a unit, the backline has not been very cohesive.

Our 2020 GF backline was this, with Broad & Short rotating through it. I thought this was one of our best backlines

I think we likely could d something very similiar

b: Young Balta Grimes/Broad
HB: Baker Vlaustin Short

With Gibcus, Trevize, Mansell sitting in the wings, we also have ample back-up in most backline roles. I think we have needed more decisive movement up forward that doesn't rely on a selfish motivation ( ie Dusty, Bolton & Cumberland ball ) & I think Dan has always been the most obvious guy to be the leader of that down forward, where he won 3 flags.

The forward structure was beyond broken when Dan had to move back. His drop in form coincided with the same thing from Georgie & Aarts - it was not an entirely "him" problem

I wouldnt be wanting to move any players on this trade period and would like to see how players like Miller , HRS , Graham , Soldo , Biggy , Dow etc go under a new coach and a new system.

We currently have 3 list spots available after Kosi comes with no quality picks so if we do get another trade player coming in and take 2 selections in the draft then that should do and give the new coach a good look at the list.

I would love to get another young KPF from another club thats been at another club that cant get a look in
or a Baku Khamis type

Whilst our list is transitioning we have alot of unknown piece that YZE might just get the best out of and could jump up back into contention.

2 years ago the Pies looked like bottom 4 for 3-4 years and now playing in a GF

The Todd Elton strategy has bit us in the bum before, I would rather not repeat it!
