Was today Biggy's first game as a forward? 2.7 is potentially huge if he tidies up some kicking.

Not sure if it's short lived experiment or they want to give it a long term go, haven't seen a VFL game in a while.
I think this was his 3rd game back from injury.

the trend over the last 3 games is towards more forward time.

Last week against the Bumbers played a fair bit forward and from memory the game against Geelong he played predominantly ruck and pushed forward towards the end of the game.

He looked dangerous in both of those games when playing forward, but today was another level.

Maybe he gets an opportunity instead of Miller when Ryan is rested. Seems he’s being prepared to play that role.

Most impressive thing apart from the great win today was both of our MSD picks were outstanding. Great to have Coulthard on our list and I never commented on his thread until I watched him play for a few games as I knew SFA about him. Well I went in and made a few comments today ( feel free to hit like or love button when you get the opportunity to read brief post). He moves so well and is clean low on the ground and doesn’t waste it. Watched him kicking or moving towards the goals as he runs with intent to put scoreboard pressure unlike most of our small forwards who are looking for other options or hesitant. He’s basically ended Mansell,s career and should play immediately.
Trezise was also outstanding and his tackling is a real strength and his ability to get into his opponents face and play in front. Can’t wait for him to have a proper AFL preseason as he’s just going from strength to strength developing this year.
His kicking is a slight concern, but I think it’s more adjusting to the tempo of the game considering where he’s come from.
Bradtke I’m impressed with also much to the amusement of what posters were saying. His ground work is excellent and he’s got a strong lead on him and just struggling to hold them atm. I can see a big bag on the way coming soon from him as with his fitness levels getting better he looks ready to explode.
Biggy is getting time in the FL and ruck, but still needs time developing in these roles in the vfl as he’s still making horrendous costly errors especially in the ruck. Forward work was good apart from his kicking. I still think he’s not the answer though.
Banks wasn’t impressive today which was a bit of a disappointment, but he’ll get his time to shine.
All the rest played serviceable games and it’s a typical Steve Morris coached side where there were individuals all doing their bit when it counted.

looks like Coulthard has a huge tank, to go with his natural crumbing ability. He runs hard defensively , just the type we like. Hope we don’t train that natural flair out of him .

What you think of steely green I gotta admit I’ve seen very little of him, any VFL I’ve watched he didnt get near it , seems a good game today

Excellent, but I think not at the same level of Coulthard. Very early still so it’ll be interesting with him.

Bauer was the stand-out for me tresise next best Coulthard was ok but not to a level people talking up as Green looked more dangerous and I would not include him in the best. Biggy was ok well beaten in the ruck and the forward was great but his kicking for goal well the fact he nearly kicked half our points says it all. The other Sudanese kid in the back looks promising him getting peed off a couple of times means he wants to succeed and cares. Has a bit of Alir look about him.

Most players cant play either end when call upon, Bauer looks like he can, a very handy skill set. He’s developing very nicely every game.
I like him forward. Not that he hasn’t performed well as a defender, I just think we should be looking at developing him in that 3rd tall forward role.
Miller looked better yesterday when he was used as a defender. Not a forward imo.
Looks like we want our talls playing multiple roles
Biggie
Miller
Bauer
Gibcus.

El Nour was that kid and although he’s good aerially as well as great at spoiling his balance is poor and falls over too much for my liking or caught out of position too often. He won’t make it to AFL , but like Street he will be a very good VFL player.
Teal is the weird one as he looks so comfortable and just cruises out of the contest with the ball and his link up work is outstanding. He just knows where to go to next and got us out of a lot of tricky situations. I’m flabbergasted he’s not on an AFL list.

RE Brown, he could have just come off a full preseason and it wouldn't make the slightest difference. Until he learns to play with any kind of intensity he is going to look a mile off it.

Trezise is a year older but is a mile ahead simply because of effort. Brown gives one half ass effort and then sits back and watches. Very concerning.
Brown played some very good games last year and a very good game preseason. Judging off a first up effort is unfair.

Miller should be sent back to full back and Bauer back to the forward line. Miller cannot mark the ball. I thought it might be a lack of opportunity, but realistically he goes for all his marks one handed. He's gone as a forward. Good backup as a back perhaps.

Bauer attacks the ball in the air and has a good leap to counterbalance his lack of height as a key forward. 193cm with a spring is good enough.
He really should have played forward all year because he is what we need up top.

Bradtke copped a bit of flak for his game which granted was average because he failed to take his marks. But he presented up and down the ground all game and covered a lot of territory. Has played 5 games for the year, second game in 6 weeks so why should his touch be up to scratch. Drop some kg's and he could be a player, has such a good work rate.

Miller is a ruckman, if you realise that then both his back and forward craft are above average and definitely better than Nank in those areas. He has elite agility (1) and speed (4), ranking in Top10 at National Combine as well as goalkicking (1).

We should chill and continue to play him mainly ruck in VFL. He is only just the age Nank came to us.

But more importantly we have a big game against Werribee, and I am concerned that they are a Tigers outfit that do a better yellow than us, Groupie_ ?

our yellow is on par with their indian security card that wears a hi vis fluro work vest

I've been in Miller's corner for a long while but, he gets beaten too easily by the big ruckman, just not strong enough. He cannot mark the ball in a pack, so not much use when he rests forward. He has been given a good run, but yesterday in the VFL he could not even mark the ball then. They used skinny Brindley in the ruck at the death who was brilliant in the end.

You clearly did not watch the whole game... Brindley had his pants pulled down for the entire first half.... let me know when you have so I am not wasting my time with this conversation 😉

I watched the entire game. We played 3 rucks, Miller, Brindley and Biggy, all were smashed by their rucks early because they were enormous. Hardly won a centre clearance all game. Miller was the best of the rucks early because he had been up against AFL rucks and Biggy got a few hit outs around the ground and was very good all game mainly as a forward.

But in the last Q Brindley rucked the last 15 minutes or so I. Miller went to full back and Biggy played more forward. When their big rucks got tired Brindley was too quick and agile at ground level as well as winning quite a few hit outs and got the ball moving our way which in turn won us the game.

Just poking fun mate.

Morris clearly positioning players for development until then playing for the win in the last quarter, which explains all the come from behind wins.

GWS monstered us in ruck and forward

Miller clearly best ruck option though Brindley rucking in the first half as club wanting to develop Miller and Biggy's forward craft.

Bauer forward, Miller back for the final Q was the last piece in the winning structure with Biggy forward a win all day.

I actually like that Miller can defend the other ruckman leading when he goes forward, which is unusual, and we should think of him as a Ruck/Back

Now do you have an opinion on the most important issue to hand .... which Tigers wear the better yellow? Richmond or Werribee?

I used to play footy against Werribee in the good old days, I won't hear a good word for them.

Stroke of genius by Morris with all those positional moves, they all came off, including Bauer forward.
Good call re Brindley he has a massive tank, big vertical leap and was able to compete really well in the air and on the ground
