Taranto was so disappointing. His body language looks so laconic. Hopper is the far inferior player but at least he seems to be having a go. These two were sold a premiership window and they will have anything but, but they need to set a standard if they're getting paid $700,000+/year.
needed taranto to be enormous if we were to get a sniff, instead he played like some bloke that had been on the piss all night. could not get the journey from 45m was poor. maybe he has groin soreness otherwise lift please.

It is really sad.

Nank + TT + Hopper + Dow/Ross/Kmac is in theory one of the most experienced groups in the AFL. But fmd dead, TT/Hopper/Dow are pure chuck ball on boot and kick it 30m high and 30m long and hope for the best. Whereas Ross has regressed as an inside mid year on year since he was drafted.

But we knew that midfield isn't good enough, otherwise we wouldn't have traded Bolton, Baker + Rioli and started a complete rebuild. It is what it is, all of Taranto, Hopper, Ross, Dow etc need to be replaced over the next 3-4 years and eventually we will move up the ladder with a young exciting midfield. But it's going to take time.

IMO, you have to run Bauer.

As it currently stand Bauer is our best KP forward behind Lynch by a margin. Compared to Armstrong, Fawcett, Faulls, etc he may have a limited ceiling, but imo you need to play the best players on the list just like how they are playing Kmac. Otherwise you become the Kangas.

Bauer swapped with Blight in the sevond half. Blight went forward and Bauer back. We looked better.

Out:
Banks - Concussion
Mansell - Shoulder (brutal loss, our only elite player in his position imo)

In:
Lynch
Rioli/Mccaullife/Sonsie

Yes in theory we are then running 4 key forwards, but half our list is young KP forwards.
People talk about broad as a hybrid back who can go tall or medium, don’t see why some of our guys (Bauer, Armstrong) can’t go hybrid as well.

Honestly Kmac gets the most our of himself. He is probably an excellent professional and awesome trainer and that's why he will get picked most weeks. He is a bottom 5 player on a premiership team and that is more than 99.99% of people can say.

Clearly he gets a game to set a standard with the young players.

About the only senior player who really busted his gut. Sets an example for Lalor etc.

I agree that they need to set standards, but $700,000 a year isn’t elite coin for mids.

McIntosh needs to work out if he wants to be footballer or a 🤡.
With limited actual football ability he needs to recognise at best he is a role player not a trend setter .

#pisstheheadbandoff

Nah. As a fellow follically challenged fella, headbands are almost a must for sweat, especially for gut runners like Macca to avoid getting sweat in his eyes.

Worst result would have been a big loss and only scoring like 3 goals.

We will be hot and cold this year, predominantly "cold". It could be way worse, we could be shit like Essendon or Carlton with a team full of grown men.

This is all about teaching kids how to play at this level, and (hopefully) getting some sort of game plan under Yze.

I'm never happy to lose but this result is not unexpected. Kudos to Port.

Last year was the big midfielder draft, we had 8 top picks, and look what we did. picked faull early despite knowing there was a glut of talls that were going to fall down the order, then picked trainor, armstrong, sims and traded out.

truth is our list managers have decided that TT and hopper will play every game on their contracts and have probably seriously overrated dow and sonsie. they haven't realised how bad things are.

Calls for Green to be dropped are harsh, he had some good passages of play with pin point kicks. Give him a solid run.

Ditto with Bauer, a number of almost marks. Bloke has no confidence he thinks he'll be dropped. That attempt from outside 50 when he could of passed to short reeked of self preservation. Kid just needs a free licence of a string of games before he's forever "Dud delist".

I thought it was telling the players ignored Kaleb Smith for a couple of easy passes late in the game.

Armstrong, trainor, Lalor all good. Seth Campbell playing with confidence that he belongs at the level. Blight decent. Can't hate on miller when the structure kept getting broken down.

Taranto and Hopper absolutely woeful, but you have to keep playing them, can't let the kids get smashed in the middle and ruin their development, like Melbourne did relying on Trengrove, Grimes etc.

Mansell and Campbell very good in their roles given limited opportunities.
And got to be happy with the inexperienced tall forwards.
Also can’t criticise any backline players.
Biggest worry was the midfield and lack of alternatives. Prestia, McAuliffe, Smilie,Sonsie, …Hotton, Lalor

Mcauliffe and sonz have to come in to the side , take your pic who exits we were non competitive in first half and their best mid was well held in JHF

Only lost the 2nd half by 7 points. Big tick there. Both games we've run out looking the fitter team so Serpell, take a bow. Get Lynch, Balta back in that team Prestia as sub and debuts for Smillie, Faull, Alger etc while rotating the kids to rest them games to McAuliffe, Sonsie etc and we will be humming at times in games this year. Go Tiges !! 🐯

Smith should have started. His disposal out of the back (outside of his first couple) was elite and what we lacked all game. He wa sone of very few to consistently hit targets.

Hopper shouldn’t be lit in same bracket as TT and Ross , he was solid while other two should be embarrassed

I thought Smith's disposal by hand and foot was poor, and the stats back that up.
