You're forgetting the emphasis now on speed in the midfield .....will be greater, once the last touch rule comes in

So you're advocating we should take another 181cm slow midfielder .....because one player made it ?

I understand & appreciate, you think he's a good player .....but we're talking about our midfield mix ....and the Club would be crucified if we took him .....what d'aloia does well, we don't need

Soligo will be better, more aggressive, and quicker
Who is the 181cm mid you're talking about, it's certainly not D'Alioa and where did I advocate we should pick him just referenced the similarities he has to Jack Graham prior to his draft and the reasons he was apparently overlooked....Recruiters got that one wrong you'd have to agree.

If we take our current picks to the draft assuming its pick 3 or 4 and say pick 22 or 23..we simply have to take th ebest mid we can lay our hands on at pick 3 / 4 and surely we go one of the remaining good talls with our 2nd? after Thilthorpe and Fog (once Tex retires), that forward line looks very thin if one of those 2 go down injured. I am writing off Himmelberg and Frampton so don't consider either a viable option to plug a gap

I'll be very surprised if Himmelberg doesn't get another contract even if it's only on a yearly basis.

His SANFL WWT Bio has him at 181cm

I agree .. Graham has been a surprise packet ....even then it's taken a while for him to consolidate his role at RICH .....he was even considering a trade a few years back

The #1 wood with Graham is his heart .....just 100% everytime he's on the park ....a bit like Berry

He's 186cm and 83kg already, surely you can see that if you've watched him play.

I think you need to watch D'Alioa play more if you're questioning his heart.

Himmelberg and Frampton will be very interesting contracts. Frampton has had a good season in the SANFL and we don't have many players in that age bracket. Might be we will keep both of them another year.

I'm a big gee for Jefferson ....almost a clone of ESS's Harrison Jones .....great hands and leap at 195cm

He'll be top 10 easily

Agree though, it appears a good group of mids will be available at our pick 3/4

Where did I say that .....I don't trust any heights publicised .... I just went off the WWT website

I still don't want him .....and we won't be getting him ....not sure why we're discussing him TBH

Hope you're a better judge of who we won't take than last year if that's the case.....because he certainly wouldn't be my pick for our 1st but I wouldn't be too disappointed if we took him with our 2nd even though it's not my preference.

It's his strategy and he is on the committee. I don't believe the separation between recruiters and coach. It's ridiculous to have them separate. It's not Kevin Costner.

Edit: If I'm wrong, I'll cop that, but for now I just don't believe it. Also heard Rahilly yesterday saying he loves the draft, will be looking closely.

There’s no if

Recruitment and coaching have been separated for over 2 decades now across the league.

Recruitment is a much longer runway than coaching, and the complete and absolute separation (as exists at Adelaide) is to stop short termism impacting the long recruitment timeline

Even Reid would have more say in who Ogilvie picks than Nicks

And ultimately it’s Ogilvie’s call

Agree , he’s top 10 for sure in my book

Just moves like an AFL player and also like his upside physically and his set shot routine

So do I.

I'd settle for:

1st pick - Mattaes Phillipou WWT/SA - 192cm 83kg goalkicking midfielder/forward with decent foot skills, great hands in tight, vice like hands overhead, footy smarts and a turn of pace.

2nd pick - Charlie Clarke Sandringham Dragons/VM - 182cm 75kg high impact goalkicking small forward/midfielder with great acceleration and speed, top end pressure, strong tackler capable of midfield minutes.

Pick 3 - Max Michalanney Norwood/SA - 3rd Tall intercepting defender with good hands overhead, good agility, good foot skills, plenty of upside to come physically.

Really like the look of Phillipou.

Could we finally have a big bodied mid?

Also - Is any club taking Lemmey before pick 30 ? Another fascinating watch
I think someone is certain to, might even be us if he happened to get through to our 2nd.

Recruiters will be across his health issues re his bout of Covid that reportedly hit him very hard.

Pretty risky I reckon , even though I get the setback

He’d want to have some form on the board by years end that is higher level than SANFL U18s as I can’t remember an early pick key forward struggling in top age year then producing at AFL level

Could his skill set translate to playing CHB?

We’re not exactly flush with KP depth at either end of the ground.

If we want a KPD prospect we could delist Borlase who I don't think will make it AFL level and rookie SA/Centrals Tall utility Brodie Tuck 194cm 91Kg another December birthday youngster who will likely add a couple of cm's in the next year or so, mobile and a great contested mark, also quite adaptable in that he's equally good up forward.

Surprised he hasn't got more of a run at the Nationals given his age and ability to handle the upgrade to Centrals reserves late in the season where in his 5 Reserves games he has taken 33 marks (11 contested)....playing in Centrals U18's and reserves who are both bottom of the SANFL ladder hasn't helped either.
