Thought Swans looked good partly because the Pies looked flat.
The game never reach the pressure and speed of previous finals
Honestly I was bored by the bruise free AFLW style contest.
With the game almost out of reach the lackluster Pies lifted.
The composed Swans panicked and folded like an empty wallet.
With the Pies on a rampage Swans raised the red card to stall it
In the end the tired Swans were very lucky to hold on to win.

Biggest worry is how the Swans lower the eyes and pass into F50
Other than that Cats can comfortably handle on the bigger MCG

Wait Freddy got outrucked by Heeney?

Yes but to be fair hes been out injured for 3/4 of the year with a shoulder i doubt hes done any ruck training this year.

They were bombing and hoping. You really think Stewart isn't cutting off the ball Papley got the free kick for, or Henry over the top?

There best entries i50 all came off 2 things we are structured against. Clear easy centre clearances because Hickey at times was doing it too easy out of the ruck (we NEED Angry Stanley next week) or from some despicable Pies turnovers.

But our run and spread will do to the Swans what the Pies did most of the last quarter.

You can tell when forwards go into the ruck with no idea what they are doing, was like watching Daniher go in a few centre bounces V Richmond. Was trying to protect himself, wasn't sure on positioning, wasn't sure on how or where to hit the ball.

When I was growing up I was trained how to ruck and became a great ruckman until I hit senior footy, because then suddenly I was up against guys who were 6'7 while I am a bit shorter than that.
I was a tap ruck, we would do training with the mids, run patterns and set ups etc.

When I had to have a break, one of our forwards would take over with one instruction. Jump high and bash it forward as far as you can. Gotta keep it simple. Freddy has a leap on him, should have told him jump and bash it.

Yeah me too, you can't replace Holmes perfectly and we have to make a sacrifice somewhere. Just a matter of where you think it'll matter the most.
If Holmes doesn't play, do we have the best wing replacement option already in the 22?

Smith has spent the second half of the year playing more as a high half forward, and not sure we have always got the best out of him in that role - could he be the option to switch onto the wing, have Parfitt come in and rotate our mids through the forward line rather than necessarily to the bench?

Swans were chip passing and hitting open targets inside F50 in Q1 when given time.
They also bombed it forward long when under pressure... especially the panic snaps from D50
Yep there is plenty the Cats will be able to feast on... and will make them pay.

Over the whole season Geelong and Dees were the best two. Sure, the Dees slumped at the worst possible moment, but Melbournes best this year was better than Sydneys. Sydney peaked for finals, Melbourne was struggling weeks out from finals.
Sydney are the only team to have beaten all fellow top 4 sides this year - Geelong, Melbourne (at the 'G) in H&A and finals, Collingwood. Melbourne's record was propped up by what turned out to be an easy draw in the first half of the season and they looked off it the moment they started getting tough matchups around the middle of the season. Their only decent win against quality opposition came against Lions at the end of the season, and then they lost against them in finals a few weeks later.

Melbourne going out in straight sets wasn't all that surprising. Their form during the year indicated they couldn't hang at the top, and it was proven in finals. Sydney for most of the year have been better against top tier sides and like Geelong their late season form heavily eclipsed Melbourne's. They also have a record against top sides that not even Geelong can boast this year.

So what are you predicting?

Yeah agree, Smith has been near on invisible. Well rested with a full contact training drill last weekend I should say

Sydney also played us in the 2nd round of the season when we had no DeKoning and all the hype was around Buddy kicking his 1000th career goal on their own dung hill. Even then, we had more scoring shots but kicked a wasteful 10.17 to Sydney's 17.5.

Wasn't much pressure in last night's final either to be honest.

Sydney are the best last quarter team.
Well they were before today.
Pretty sure they said start of the last quarter Swans had won 18 of 22 last quarters, I assume they meant 18 of their LAST 22 4th quarters which would make sense....

As Footywire.com says for the season not including finals;
Swans won 17 last quarters, lost 5 (One of those last quarter losses was against us by 3 points, lost game by 30 Rd 3 at the SCG).

It also says we won 17 last quarters, lost 4 (Bombers Rd 1 by 11 points, won game by 60), (Hawks Rd 5 by 24 points, lost game by 12), (NM Rd 6 by 4 points, won game by 60) and (WB Rd 20 by 8 points, won game by 28).

The drawn 4th quarter was the Rd 14 match against WCE where we won by 18 points.

Add in that we won our 4th quarters V Pies and Brisbane, and Swans won their 4th quarter against Dees but Pies won the 4th quarter tonight... and well, we were the best 4th quarter team heading into finals and heading into the GF.
