Dow would be a terrible sub option.
Better than HRS or... Who you going with? Watch the last few weeks of VFL Dow has been excellent with his creativity by hands. Will actually get involved.
Ross is starting 22. There's literally no one else at VFL level playing a role that will actually give us something as a sub. They're either injured or in the seniors already.

I’m genuinely concerned with our youth.
‘I’ll likely get canned for this but I don’t really care.
hugo is no good.
Ryan will be a player.
i like clarke but he should be showing signs by now that he can progress from being an ok player to a good player.
mansell just lol
Junior doesn’t get enough of the footy
sonsie was poor for the two weeks that he played, but was horribly mismanaged this week.
Gibcus will be fine, but how much does that bad hammy affect him?
Brown we know nothing about. An insider at the club told me they were worried about his lack of putting his head over the ball.
Banks has had a year and a bit in the system and we still don’t know much about him.
Biggie has progressed very slowly. Has been on the list for several years now.
Dow I’d like to see him get more crack at it to find out once and for all.
Ross has been horribly coached.
Green, Campbell, Smith we don’t know yet.
Bauer might be ok.
Bradtke will be given time, but let’s hope it’s not a waste of time.

So just because we have a lot of young players and took five in the 2021 draft, doesn’t necessarily translate to them all, or even most of them, being good.

100% - being in Sydney, most of the games I see are non-Richmond games and the young players I'm seeing at other clubs seem - at this stage, anyway - to be light-years ahead of Richmond's

Credit to junior, he still followed up and kept hobbling to the contest and tried to lay a tackle. Lot of blokes would’ve just stood there and started walking straight to the bench.
Junior is a gifted footballer the problem seems that he is down on confidence hence he is playing to his strengths - defensive skills run down tackle the opposition - the ability to do that is reflective of his remarkable speed - we need to turn that speed into Offensive skills - roaming packs and kicking goals. Watch how the opposition is always targeting him amongst the packs - always laying blocks on him so that he can't use his speed and break away from the packs. There needs to be set plays set up from him as an outsider receiving handballs so that he can burst away. Fitness ?Conditioning coach needs to grab him and place him on a special program of burst running so that he can build up his stamina. - Why cant he be the next Jeremy Cameron !

Probably because Cameron is about 6'5", a good mark, and the best kick in the league

Think ideally Jr would be playing closer to goal as well
Most of his goals last year came from crumbing efforts and just that stereotypical small forward crumb work

This year has seen him up the ground more and really exposed his kicking and marking shortcomings

Probably a reflection of our injuries this year that has seen him in this different role
Hopefully his injury isn’t a big one and he can spend some time in the vfl and just getting some touch and if he comes back in the side it’s back to that crumbing small forward role

we've had by far the hardest draw to start the year. gc and wc next, both teams have injuries and both in melb. surely we can bank those 2 and get some players back along the way. cats in round 9 is a huge, if we knock them off we could get to round 10 at 4-1-4. would take that all day.

GC won't be that easy, if Witts completely dominates the ruck we could be in trouble.

I’d like to see this lineup next week. Taking the plunge with Bauer and Nyoun because the alternative is rubbish.

Broad Young. Grimes
Short Balta. Rioli
Pickett Taranto. Kmac
Clarke. Bauer. Cumberland
Dusty. JR. Bolton

Ryan Hopper Baker

Nyoun, Vlaustin, Graham, Sonsie

Emerg
Cotch/ Ross/ Dow/Mansell

* really like to see Rioli/Short combo off hb. Which means Baker becomes a spare parts man.

Being a foot and half shorter might have something to do with it :p

Did anyone else actually think miller was competing well In The ruck , surprised he was subbed , understand going hell for leather to win it ,,,first thing is we had to compete in ruck , reckon we were clobbered in 4q in ruck , not the case first 3

The 3rd quarter the ruck was getting ugly. We were always going to tire in there with what we had, nothing we could do really.

Subs need to be able to run and carry or at least be somewhat versatile. Dow is neither.

Sonsie, Ross, Clarke, Banks, Graham, Ralphsmith would all be better sub options.

In. Broad, Bauer, sonsie and ?Ross.
Out: MRJ, the mullet, mansell, Miller

Meatball needs to get his disposal going and Others who are just OK include Cotch and Mac. Miss Soldo and need him back asap. Ryan looks like he will make it. Not sure about Clarke yet but he did a bit today.

Who are you 2nd rucking if Miller goes? Next week they have Witts + Chol/Levi for 2nd ruck. Also isn't Bauer a defender now? Surely can't bring him and Broad in and not drop any defenders.

People like Ross but I can't see him ever being the answer to complement Hopper and Taranto. It needs to be classier or quicker player.

I guess in a way that’s the price of success. We’re coming off a pretty dominant period, covid etc. they’re not excuses but they are factors perhaps why we haven’t seen our draftees over that period stand out.

I’m not defending Miller who is getting a game because of our injuries, but he shouldn’t have been subbed last night.
Ryan was tiring JR was spent and Young is 5 games into his career.

Miller is at least a big body. Cumberland was competing in the air in that last Q, he should have been there for ground ball. Miller at the very least could have bought the ball to the ground.

We just lost structure all over the ground

Here are the wacky balls to wall the seasons over changes I think we need to make and if by the grace of god we make the final 8 I think these will put us in good stead.

Out: Prestia, Miller, Rioli
In: Bauer, Ross, Sonsie

It is only a matter of time before Prestia gets injured mid game. He is playing like shite at the moment and honestly I can't see him serving us beyond say 2024. It would be better to see if we can pump a full "Pseudo Preseason" into him and get him fully cherry ripe for the post bye attack at the season. Ross on the other hand, is playing exceptionally well in the 2s and we need to show that we will reward the form. If he is off to the saints at the end of the year then at present he is a 4th rounder. Really nothing to lose if we can up his value on exposed form.

Bauer is playing well enough that he should be given the option of the 2nd forward. Taking double digit marks is worth rewarding.

Now here is my crazy move. Have use Ryan as we used Nank in 2017 and make KMac the Grigg of 17. He is slightly taller and the same frame and he could possibly work the same way.

Don’t know what’s going on with Prestia. Was he on a modified preseason, on a modified program now or what. Because his output at the moment is nowhere near his best and he’s been one of our most consistent players when he’s out there.
