It means that if we don't get anyone it's only because we didn't want anyone
That's the public line, but we've obviously tried for a couple of high-tier guys this year (Redman, and probably Day)

List management obviously goes into the year with a thought-out strategy, which would have levels to it - if you don't get the top-tier targets, then you look for the lower-tier ones

I just hope we don't end up at the end of October without bringing in anyone else from a different club

Thompson was not under nicks.
I’ll wait until I see actions rather than rumors before I change my opinion, which is based on this year where he played every game he was available for.
The club still sees Sloane as one of our main four mids.

People have already forgotten about how we lined up in a knockout game only 10 days ago. Now with Schoenberg set to spend time on the sidelines and Crouch likely to go, he's pretty much a lock.

We might hate it but it's how the club rolls.

Nicks will get himself sacked if he plays Sloane in the midfield. He shouldn't even still be on our squad, let alone playing midfield. I don't think Nick's is that dumb to do such a thing and if he does the recruiting staff should be terminated.

Surely Sloane is trolling that he's not playing sanfl for years. That much lack of awareness isn't possible.
Its not lack of awareness, it's confidence that with a pre-season he'll be back to his best next year.

Delusional given his age and history, but positive thinking. It happened for Tex as an exception to the rule.

Do you expect him to say, I'm going to be worse next year, I've only signed on to play reserves footy?

ftmch I expect you’ll pick up Mostyn for keeping it going?

How about you slice

And for all the posters who liked the post asking this discussion to end, including you Mostyn, what do you have to say?

It will be crickets because you’re only interested in shutting down discussion when it’s a negative against the club.

No interest in engaging with someone who clearly is NQR.

A lot of people are short on time but still would like to engage in this community. That is made extremely difficult by a handful of posters clogging every thread with personal fights (mostly completely off topic) in a desperate attempt to be validated on the internet.

Yawn.

Sure. But it's only twelve, and it's only in a role that takes diminishing midfield time, while he still offers leadership around the club.

Crouch would be expecting 40+ games over the next two years in the guts and can't play anywhere else.

I would have delisted Sloane, but the club obviously feels we need transitional leadership while our list is still so young. It's incredibly boring that every thread gets hijacked by Sloane complaints.

Doesn't sound like you're that disappointed after all.

Going by the Olsen interview, I don't think we will need trading anyone in as we missed out on Redman.
From what Silvers was saying, there is no big named player on the trade wish list this year. He said we already knew by mid August that Rankine and Dawson were coming.

So nothing to see about a coaches judgement being so off about where his best player should play? As long as he followed the players suggestion all is good. FMD.
Oh FFS are you STILL banging on about this?

Wouldn’t be shocked if we were heavily courting Charlie Ballard.

Sorry - I replied when I saw that @large1 actually posted the timestamp of Nicks and Dawson saying they'd been preparing his midfield move for a while, and Dawson saying they were joking and he doesn't tell Nicks want to do.

That seemed very definitive, and I though it worth acknowledging that someone seemed to find the final word on the topic.

I'm never posting again on it though. :)

Nah.

I don't see how anyone could genuinely think that the club thinks Sloane is going to be one of our main four mids, in a future year that he was barely given a new contract for.

Happy to be proven wrong and I understand how all the worriers will be assuming the worst, but I just can't see it.

I think they clearly see Sloane as midfield depth, rotating off the bench and someone who can impact a game from Sub position or play 3 quarters and subbed off. I dont think they see him starting in the middle at all. It wouldn't surprise me either if they have not guaranteed him games. I think Sloane just wants to prove something and the clubs willing to give him shot. But if his pre season form drops off, I wont be surprised to see him in the Sanfl round 1.

The big names were Day any Redman and they’ve Re - signed

Could see a depth type key defender being traded in

I think with draft we have to look at the absolute pointy end while we still potentially have access to it which means the top 25 and even trying to get up the order where possible

a little mock draft from one of the draft scribes. It shows just how compromised the top end of the draft actually is. Highlighted in orange are the Academy bids & possible FA compo to North. This also does not factor a possible gifting of Sanders to North under NGA so below could be even worse for us

023 AFL Phantom Draft

Pick 1 - WCE - Harley Reid - I think WCE could split the pick, but if they don't, they could have a franchise talent in the making
Pick 2 - GCS - Bid - Jed Walter - ready made KPF, very strong, athletic, potential Tom Hawkins type KPF
Pick 3 - North - Daniel Curtin - North need KPP so I think this is a good fit
Pick 4 - North - Colby McKercher - I think he is too good to not be taken here, but I do believe North like Watson as well and with so many mids at North they might take a forw?
Pick 5 - Haw - Zane Duursma - it's a coin toss between Watson and Duursma, but I think a Fritsch type forward could be what we go for?
Pick 6 - GCS - Bid - Ethan Read - quality ruck/kpp for GCS who dominated the ruck and around the ground contests at the champs
Pick 7 - Melb - Nick Watson - quality small forward for a strong forward line at the Dee's
Pick 8 - GWS - Ryley Sanders - fantastic midfielder with a great athletic profile
Pick 9 - Geel - Connor O'Sullivan - athletic 198cm kpp, run and carry kpp, could be anything
Pick 10 - GCS - Bid - Jake Rogers - another 1 of the dominant Allies midfield, quick, clever, also played well against Port Sanfl side and Carlton vfl team being best on for both games imo
Pick 11 - Ess - Harry DeMattia - big strong quick athletic mid/forw with good kicking skills, exactly what Essendon have been looking for imo, Jai Newcombe with speed
Pick 12 - Adel - Darcy Wilson - a goal kicking wing/hff who can also play midfield, classy outside type
Pick 13 - WB - Koltyn Tholstrup - a clever forw/mid, I was thinking Caddy or Edwards here, but they have too many talls and with another 1 in Croft coming later in the draft, I thought I needed to add a small here, I was tempted to put Jack Delean here also, Kolt is a dynamic player in the forward line and an accumulator when he plays mid, can play both roles to a high standard.

Nick Haynes for Defensive depth. A Victorian Defender out in the Greater WESTern Sydney area. Riddle solved. Now someone get Ellijah Hollands Manager on the phone. An SA boy who played representative football for country Victoria. who's Dad played for WEST Adelaide. OH. MY. GOD.

get the "it's happening" meme in here now!

Actually I wasn’t until you just brought it up again because you can’t help yourself but intervene.

Then you get fellow cheerleaders jump on board.

So what’s it to be, you want me to stop posting on it but you guys can quote me and also post on the topic? Or is it just the positive posts you want left? Where’s the condemnation of Mostyn bringing it up again?

Basically you cheerleaders are a bunch of hypocrites and I won’t be guided by any of you when and what I post, if you don’t like it, there’s the ignore function.
