That bloke is such a twat with his revisionist bullshit. On one hand he’s saying it was a bad move to not split the Reid pick then in the same breath he’s not happy that we didn’t take Sheezel or Wardlaw last year.

Do love that Cleary instantly sat him back down and listed off a handful of replacements. Half of the best successful 22 is already on the list it’s just getting them to a point where they can compete before their spirit breaks.

The people running the club need to stop carrying on about the previous years injury lists. Why are we talking about that at a season launch? It is a negative mind set. Their focus is on making excuses for 100 point beltings last year rather than focussing on a good performance this weekend. When Tiger Woods was in his prime his best asset was that none of his mental energy or cognitive bandwidth was being chewed up making excuses to himself in his own mind about the bogey he got or the 3 foot putt he missed on the last hole, he had already completely forgotten about it by the time he got to the next tee and was completely in the present moment and focussed on this next hole. Most of his competitors couldn't do that. The same principle applies to footy clubs. No need to relitigate blame for last year at this point.

And if we are relitigating it, if some people running the club want to cry about the injury list then they also have to accept that they are partly to blame for that injury list. They not only held on to players on the list who were clearly at the end of their careers and whose bodies were no longer up to it, but formulated plans counting on those players playing 20 games in the season. If you are going to hang on to them then at least be realistic and admit to yourself that the most you will likely get out of them is 12 games and you need to constantly rest them to avoid injuries recurring. They made severe miscalculations by relying on those over 30's with chronic injury issues to play 20 games for us and they should admit that to themselves. You can't hang on to a bunch of old injury prone players and then cry a river when they don't last the 20 games.

Thanks for posting that Alesana
Suggestion of taking Sheezel and not splitting then suggesting split Reid pick for 3 funny.
Still as arrogant as ever, it appears, young Sam.
Puts a few little caveats on his predictions in that piece, though.
*making definitive statements is apparently 'what they do', part of the excuse for f*cking up.
Most honest definitive thing I noticed is wearing a cap because the hairline is marching back

Im starting to think you are all insane.

We won the spoon and we handstanding over the fact a guy changed a song and brought back some plastic banner, all the while he says we are not fit enough, not spending any money to fix it and believe their is nothing we need to do other then just sit and wait

I think cautiously optimistic is one thing, but this is delusion. If you see a flaw and do nothing about it, you are not gearing us towards success, just more of the same

Everyone is insane exept you and the Trumpster! Just think about that for a minute.

If you think Pyke is doing nothing other than 'change the curtins and give the place a lick of paint' you havent been paying much attention. At all.

There have been massive changes in personnel. Players, coaches and administration.

New fitness and strength conditioning.

New assistant coaches.

We said goodbye to three all time greats in Nic, Hirn and Shuey plus others who were cut hard.

The song going and the banner returning is a bit of 'window dressing' however change none the less.

Article today on the cash splash underway at the club.

Your simplistic rants lacks any substance or logic. Its like you are refusing to see all the changes already done and those underway.

McClure is a sad ginger Kent. Doesn’t explain how by doing the trade we end up with a better hand.

No possible trade of pick one included pick 2 which means McKercher was off the board. We would have taken Curtin with any pick given that was after pick 2 and then who knows with what was left over with the picks that would have blown out due to the compromised nature of the draft.

Then goes on to say we had the chance to take Sheezel or Wardlaw, the two campaigners that had made it clear they didn’t want to leave Melbourne…….talk about a sh1t take.

I don’t mind people that want to have pot shots over our performance over the last few years or about our list management. However to go hard on the club over there decision on whether to split pick one last year or not is probably the least of the Eagles poor decisions made over recent memory.

This may change in time when we have the benefit of hindsight but currently there is nothing to suggest that the Eagles made a really poor decision in keeping pick one.

Now if upwards of a couple hundred people - players, coaches, support staff, management, board members etc - could simply adopt the mindset of the worlds most dominant golfer, simultaneously, things would be rosy.

Another ball dropped by Pyke since his arrival IMO.

Seriously, can someone just cut his hands off and his tongue out so we don't have to listen to bullshit like this or read any articles from the ginger turd. On second thoughts I listened to some more, can he just accidentally take a long walk off a short pier......
Whats a wa#ker with no hands ment to do?

Wouldn't this have made things even worse?

No interchange bench forcing no rest on the players out there.

Basically the disaster vs Freo last year but across multiple games.
A team of 20-21 absolutely 100% fit players and a sub should be able to run out a game . It's not as if we couldn't rest our running mids in the forward line rather than benching them. Put Sheed or Ginbey in a forward pocket for 10 minutes would be like having a rest anyway.

But it's a bit of a moot point anyway as looking at our teams in 2023 we were able to get together 23 fit (or close to it) players without naming injured guys like Yeo. Yes the team at times would have been horribly unbalanced (BBW, Harry Edwards, Waterman, Maric and Jamo all in the same team for example) but we wouldn't have been killing our 50% fit guys.

The people running the club need to stop carrying on about the previous years injury lists. Why are we talking about that at a season launch?

Presumably because they’re being asked questions about it?
