Only the very best of teams can see-off the type of effort and pressure that Brisbane applied to Essendon on the weekend. Carlton are not one of the very best teams in the AFL and if we can replicate the Essendon standard we will win this one.

What looks promising is Sam's capacity and ability to influence and turnaround matches not only against AFL quality opposition like the Swans but also in the NEAFL final's series. He seems to revel in big matches and it will be interesting to see how this translates at AFL level.

Thought all the rookies did well today Michael, Bourke, Newell and Hayes all impressive. IMO Hayes was one of the best Lions players today. The top up players also deserve a pat on the back for a job well done.
