Did I say that? You know my feelings on tall backs. I love that you pick years when 7 and 8 were stars. lets face it, it would be much easier to pick years when they weren't but its a silly game especially as we have no idea who our club would have taken unless all teams must take the same players. Ive said previously if we cant trade I would be doing everything possible to get one player with a higher pick instead of the thrill that people get with 2 players.

Well we had a go at Fyfe, Kelly and Dusty and missed them all. If you can't swap picks for top line talent you need to draft your own. If there are an average of two spuds, three guns and 5 good players in the top 10 of most drafts you would have to be extremely unlucky to **** up two of them.

I don't rate Bonar as a reach at all. He's r
Armo has a bit of interest from the GC. They’re obviously looking to bolster the middle with someone who’s not afraid to pick it up.

What’s his situation?
Despite the club saying he's not on the trade table, we'd definitely look to let him go if the price is okay you would think. He's getting on and he's a surplus to our needs.

One of GC's second round picks would be enticing.

He's half out the door, there has been a lot of talk for a while now like lever, maybe this pushes him the rest of the way.

It's going to be an entertaining trade period I hope we hold our nerve, there could be some great opportunities as teams battle to get deals over the line.

Lots of angst from Dees fans on Twitter around Hogan, the way Watts is being handled and the Lever recruit earning big dollars and forcing a favourite in Watts out.
Impending dramas with a few clubs - Dogs, Dees, Crows, GC, Bombers - to make interesting viewing in the next couple of weeks

And then on top of all that, there is no way of knowing if the kid will do the work to fulfill his potential once the reality about how hard it is hits him.
They have come a long way from the old days.

These kids are a lot further along in terms of their fitness than ever before just look at the draft testing, look at the 3km and the beep.

They still face a lot of challenges to make it as senior AFL players but their better prepared than ever before IMHO.

And GC don't know that? This when I get confused. We say he is physically shot but we still get pick 25. Sounds like it should be 85.

I don't think he can't play any more, it's that the club don't trust his body. He's confident he can play again but we seem to have decided that playing Steele and Acres is the future rather than giving games to Armo judging by what the ITKs are saying. GC need leadership ASAP. GA was a terrible leader and the place is crying out for someone to come in and get the kids to buy in. Armo is the perfect fit for them, he's over his wild years and he trains like a madman and is the type that makes footy clubs fun places to be. Delidio is shot and has been for three years. He got the Tiges a first and third round pick. He was seen as worth the risk because he adds something beyond just the on field stuff.

GCS could do a helluva lot worse than getting Armo.
They could certainly do with someone of his ilk, with his professionalism , experience and toughness. And if he sees himself getting more game time there he may well consider it.

In terms of what we get for him, it depends on how keen they are for someone with his level of commitment....something they clearly appear to need. We got 21 for Stanley after all. ( not that I'm saying we'll get close to that, but just an example of a club paying for what they feel they really need.)

ok, that's it! I too need to hear this stringer goss. don't make me start calling up random highschools in footscray... anyone?
Just read his ex partners feature article. Pretty well detailed everything that happened over the course of the last 18 months.

Meh, they played alright without him for a significant stretch this year.

"Alright" being the operative word. Still didn't make finals. They need him to be a serious threat I think.

No mention of Watts in the article.
No quotes.
No substantiation of the meeting.
Contracted.
Melbourne has utterly quashed talk of it.

This is news?

Poor ******* Dees, I know a few supporters and they are seriously cursed. Hogan's leaving is always on the cards but if he goes and they drop away there are going to be some seriously disillusioned fans. As much as I loved seeing them fall short last season I don't wish this on them.
What we need is a bloody premiership so we can be happy for the dogs, the Tigers and enjoy melbournes rise up the ladder. I mean we still can but not as much as if we'd won in 97 and one of 09 or 10. Sorry to destroy everybody's Sunday morning.

I think it's just he was personal messaging any attractive teenage girls who had linked to his instagram page is what I heard on the gossip grapevine........ propositioning them for hook ups. If that was a St Kilda player all hell would have broken loose. Caro would have made this into a saga by now if it was us.

Surely not? That would be disastrous for Melbourne. He's probably in their top 3 players.
Talk on 6pr all year was that Melb could be forced to trade him. I've had the same response as you. Considered it complete bullshit.

But the rumours aren't going away

For everyone complaining that no one wants to come, you should all be stoked that no one wants to leave.
Imagine having a 17 year old come to your club. He can't play AFL but boots a ****in bag for your VFL affiliate and win it's B&F.

He looks like the most promising KPF since Wayne Carey.

Then he ****in wants to leave... and for the dockers too.

You'd dead set start sharpening the razor blades.

Think he'll go home eventually, butni just can't see it happening this year.

There are people who know his family quite well over here. It's been a hot topic for a long time.

For example the day of our Sydney game at etihad 6pr were talking about how freo might be able to get in on the lever trade to get Hogan who's no guarantee to be there next year.

They've been adamament all year he's gettable.

Strangely enough though yesterday when talking about Hogan they weren't talking about freo. They were talking West coast. Specifically gaff to Melbourne which I found strange

Not saying it's going to happen or there's any substance to that article but the rumours have been a strong talking point in WA media for a long time now.

You trade him for Fyfe.

Unexpected things pop up in trade period but right now I'd say we are an 85% chance of keeping both picks, 99% chance of keeping one of them. I was told it would take an exceptional offer to get either pick from us.
We are keen to trade up but the likelihood of that happening is slim.
I've had a few people now mention the same two players names that we are keen on at 7/8.
We have had interest in two best 25 players that we would entertain trading but still a long way to go there.
I've changed my thinking somewhat recently and I'm very keen on hitting the draft hard now and pushing back our Premiership tilt by a couple of years, I think being even more patient will give us a better chance long term. If we draft right then adding one, maybe two elite mids into a top 8 side will be easier than when JB/Acres/Spook came through into a bottom side.
You look at what's happening at Crows, Dees, North etc and it gives me even more confidence in what Ameet and Trout are doing.
Will be an interesting couple of weeks ahead.

If your Melbourne surely you have to do the don't argue. Even if it costs you a % of what you might get later on

What a deesaster
Freo give - pick 5, 2018 first and Balic
Freo receive - Hogan and 27

Melbourne give - Hogan, 27
Melbourne receive - Lever, Balic, 2018 first

Adelaide give - Lever
Adelaide receive - pick 5

That's the trade I posted on the Hogan board. That's a pretty decent return for a player that's likely going to leave at some stage I reckon. Might just be worth biting the bullet now.

Agree, we need to forget about the road to 2018 and concentrate on what's best for the long term.

We will start to peak when Billings and co. Are around the 25 mark and the two draftees from this year are 21 and hitting their straps.

Can I ask who the two players in the draft you are referring to are? Wouldn't be Cerra and Bonar would it?
