17 and Hickey for Brisbane's 12 if we really think Bonar was still going to be there at pick. Sounds like it's underselling Hickey however some want to get Bonar with 8, and if he's still there at 12 then it's basically 17 and Hickey for 8.
Brisbane have a couple of ruckmen, they wouldn't be interested in Hickey you wouldn't think

It really grates on me when I hear commentators like Matty Lloyd proposing trades that are clearly in favour of their ex club. It smacks of EFC using any leverage it has within the MSM to create fear that they hope finds some traction in social media and puts pressure on other clubs to accept unders.
i think you are putting too much on the clubs giving two hoots what is said in the media ... all the clubs would have their plans in place i dont reckon they would allow external noise change those plans (and if they didi wouldnt think they would last long in the industry)... the media noise is only for our benefit as fans and would only really influence membership numbers by building hope and excitment ..

I feel naive accepting that at face value. It's almost like EFC wants a trading position to be reinforced, so they use mouth pieces like Matthew Lloyd to try and create an alternative reality.

sylvia hasnt been on there list for a while now so doubt they are concerned

of course. not the point i was making...

the same people raising their concern on matera had no problem with sylvia and a bunch of other players who ended up there that are far worse

some players still on their list have far greater concern, including a prominent senior player who had a run in with the police over the last couple of weeks

MG liked this, that's where I got the Brisbane and Hickey connection.

Brions would be very keen if stef martin really does want out.
He would be low on their priority list though, i reckon hick won't get addressed until the end of trade period.

We'd have to trade in some mature age plodder ruck for peanuts if we let hickey go though i reckon. (Spud lobbe?)
Billy goes down and there's a big gap to the rest.

Reckon there is a fair bit of under rating of Hickey going on - with everyone wanting a trade to happen.

Currently having a ruck the class of Hickey is a great benefit along with another strong ruck in Longer......odds are this time next year we would be looking for a back up ruck.

Yes we need fast mids but lets have context

Also think one of our biggest strengths is that Bains is under rated, maybe not by other clubs now - they may well be wary of him but the rest of the footy community.

Saints in a strong position while other clubs trying and lock in their trades and may well have to involve a club like us with the picks we have.

Intriguing couple of weeks this

I don’t want Hickey to be traded , am I the only one ?

years ago i spoke to a former head of recruiting of an AFL club and he reckons that 85% of the stuff you hear in the media is either overstated or blantantly made up.. he reckons that if we only talked about what was realistically an option during the trade period i would fill a 20min report not a two week wall to wall coverage...
trust me Media noise is for the entertainment value and to keep the AFL in the front of mind for longer each year with the fans ...

I actually think that Hickey has been good in terms of motivating Longer to tidy up his preparation.

a lot comes from managers now

take the sloane example, his manager is not an idiot. now is the perfect time to create some noise to extend rory's contract after a ripping year when he's not going to get a much better offer come the end of his existing contract

problem is many high profile managers also work in the media... so them putting mayo on rumours only helps their other income stream

this ... the red hot competition between Longer and Hickey has been great and i reckon has elevated both of their abilities ... in a perfect world we would keep both and have them both pushing eachother to even higher levels but you gotta think at some stage one of the two will grow tired of being second fiddle to the other..

Jaxons has said we are most likely taking 7 and 8 to the draft, so I can't see anything overly exciting happening with us. Maybe something minor on the final day. I know we built up this trade period for 12 months, but I can't see much happening
