Looks like the Saints are not high on any player's list as a destination, and it seems that the opinion amongst some in AFL circles (sorry, just second hand talk from corporate dudes I know in those circles), that the Saints are not seen as serious challengers in the immediate future.

I bet most people said that about Richmond last year.

Suddenly our No 1 ruckman has one
senior game of experience...
and is a part time ruckman anyway

You asked a question on something that hasn't happened and most likely wont happen.
From reading on here the last 12 months Marshal has played ruck in the VFL a fair bit, surely we dont hold on to Hickey in case of what ifs, if we get the right deal

Could understand if that perception exists.
And it doesn't matter if it's on the money or not.
Would be interested to know how widely that view is held, only question how common is it?

Brian Waldron apparently seeks to think James Aish is on the table

Absolutely huge mistake by Aish going to Pies. I still think the kid will be a solid citizen and we did try to get him last time.

Considering his standing in the game, I'd do our pick 43 & 57 for Aish and 54. Absolute bargain, in our favour of course, but still has time to live up to his pre draft reputation.

Havent they read our blueprint

HBFlankers Roberton, White, Webster ----- Savage
BPocket Geary, Rice
CHB Carlisle
FB Brown, Goddard

Thats our backline

What about McKenzie, Newnes & Gilbert? That is at least 7 blokes whose best position is a bank flank. We only have 2 spots available. How are we supposed to get development into blokes like White, McKenzie and Rice?

I am concerned Richo and co overestimate where we are at. As such they are going to revert to playing the standard combo that consists of Gilbo, Newnes, Robbo, Geary thinking we are thereabouts. Savage & Webster are next in line, with all the kids the next rung down after that.

We constructed the list in this fashion and it certainly will not help the careers of the young blokes mentioned above playing at some junior sized shitheap in gale force winds every 2nd week.
