Terry Wallace telling the entire listening audience explicitly that Richmond thought he was "soft" was pretty irresponsible IMO. Especially in light of issues the kid might have and the youth mental health issues today.
He could have just said they chatted to him and then ruled him out as a player they were interested in.
Don't think we need him with the amount of forwards we have anyway.

It feels like the most likely trade up is either with Brisbane or GC.
GC could be a really nice one
7,8 + a player for 2 and two of their many second rounders
One goes to gws for Tomlinson and one to the draft
Rayner / ldu / cera and Tomlinson along with a second which may be packaged to trade back up to try and get Bonar.

I just can't see Carlton trading down, it doesn't make sense to me.
I still think their will be a bit to play out with Tomlinson though. Whether we get him or not, it might be a bit of a shit fight in the next few days.

Also, a player has indicated to us that he would like to play for us next season. He's contracted though but we will try and use his sides salary cap squeeze to pry him out.
Will be hard work getting him for the price we are prepared to pay though.

Does look a bit weird seeing a 1 post account with Platinum.
Saints website has put up a couple of podcasts with a Ameet and he mentioned having "productive" talks about going up the draft order so that's where it's coming from along with the top 4 likely to be stacked with mids that suit our needs.
Problem with Carltons pick is where does the change come from that both clubs would be happy with? Would have to involve another club most likely and that gets difficult.

Gotta presume you're referring to tomlinson. Wish I could say I'm excited but really don't know if he's that good, as long as we don't overpay will be a reasonable move.
Got any word on likelihood of the pick upgrade MG? That's what I'm really hoping for... Need that gun mid (LDU/Rayner/Dow/Cerra)!!
Funny how my initial feeling was 'no' given Jones was on the scrapheap not long ago.
But yes i probably would do it. Jones proved to be a pretty dam good full back this year (albet small sample size), he finished top 10 in our b&f basically playing only half the season! However we have a lot of KPD's on our list, so makes sense to trade one imo.

Has to be a giant considering it's due to salary cap issues. Can only assume it's Tomlinson as that is the big rumor and fits considering we are most likely offering a future second rounder for him and GWS want more.
Agreed, GC would seem best to deal with for pick 2 and one of their second rounders.
But there hasn't been any rumours about a deal with GC or Brisbane...yet constant whispers about Carlton's pick 3.
Two Planks, the Geelong poster who seems to have good Carlton info for a few years now, just posted on our board that we are pushing for a swap of pick 3 & 40 (third rounder) for 7 & 8. I wouldn't have thought Saints would do that deal, but gives merit to Ameet saying there's been 'productive' talks. Saints may push for something a bit more before signing off on it. Or who knows, maybe they rate whoever they think they can get at pick #3 far higher than those available at 7 & 8 and will consider it worth it to get their 'superstar'.
Tomlinson's a hard one. I don't see how we do it without at least trading down one of 7/8. Maybe if he was uncontracted we'd get him for a second rounder but I can't see that satisfying the Giants. Much less a future second rounder.
Think this might throw the 'good team to trade with' line under the bus. We've gone to one of their contracted, best 22 players and convinced him to ask for a trade? Maybe that's why they were making inquiries about Gresh.
I can see this going down a bit like the Mitch Brown situation a few years ago.
3 and 40 weights the trade in your favour slightly. Pick difference is equivalent to Pick 35. Whereas if you throw in Pick 20 the value is almost identical.
Agree we need to probably accept somewhat of a loss to make you part ways with a Pick 3 though.

If it was Tomlinson I reckon he would have said it, given its been out there. Also because we have been chasing him for a while I doubt we'd be low balling them.
So I reckon it could be someone else.

Well hopefully as the trade week moves closer to the end, and their salary cap squeeze doesn't diminish, they may become a little more desperate and therefore more likely to concede a little more.
With no inside info whatsoever, I'm assuming Tomlinson here.
And it also sounds like we are not prepared to use 7 or 8 which I would be rapt about. Don't blink, Ameet

I'd certainly be more intrigued if it was another giant. Without MG giving us a clue I'd be purely speculating though. Would love a midfielder but can't think of one that we would want and that they would trade.
Given Paddy's concussion and general health concerns, I don't think it would be wise for us to banking on him at this stage... he'd be a bonus IMO.
I'd prefer we took a chance with schache than Tomlinson.
