Also, a player has indicated to us that he would like to play for us next season. He's contracted though but we will try and use his sides salary cap squeeze to pry him out.
Will be hard work getting him for the price we are prepared to pay though.
Any clue as to the the direction from St.Kilda, or the state? Keep us excited until it all kicks off again tomorrow!

GWS have one of the tighter caps, so would be my guess.

Still think we get carltons 3-16 after Gibbs goes to crows for our 7-8
Tomilson for 16 we get pick 3...

Sam Collins has to be considered from Freo...?? He is exactly what are looking. For Anne get him for a King Size Crunchie..?

Haynes?

Nick Haynes was drafted to the GIANTS with pick seven in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft. The former Dandenong Stingrays forward made his debut in Round 10, 2012 playing through the midfield and up forward. Haynes has great agility, takes a good overhead mark and shows very good running and aerobic capacity. A switch to the backline proved a turning point for Haynes who has gone on to cement himself as a key member of the GIANTS' defence.

Don't have to tell me his name ghost... but in your opinion is he a jet, good player or avg

It could be, a second player added in or someone from the saints going to the Giants might work.
It was a pretty broad statement. We assume it's the giants due to the salary cap issue.

It was mentioned that they had a list of players they'd be prepared to let go to ease the squeeze.

So firstly, if it is a sc issue, it would have to be a middle salary player that would have significant impact on their cap.

Secondly, we might be playing hard ball to start with because the player has indicated he wants to move.

Being contracted the giants hold the cards, so will want a premium.

If he is genuinely worth it, I reckon we'll pony up. If not we walk away.

We'd have to be mindful that paying high for a non mid player will affect our ability to draft one or two this year.

It's Tomlinson. I don't like MG playing these games with us but appreciate the tid bits of info anyway so guess I can't complain with him bring all cryptic about it... But on twitter he gave a clue "20" in response to someone's question of who we were after. Tomlinson wears number 20.

Why would it necessarily be Tomlinson?

He's never said he wants out in fact last year he turned down an offer from the saints.

Jaxons keeps repeating that Haynes wants to come to the saints. Key word WANTS.

MG has said a player WANTS to come to the saints - tea leaves.

I reckon Ameet is playing GWS with "we're happy to give you salary cap relief for a defender"

Read between the lines - we're happy for either, they are both best 22.

Richmond went cold on Scache. During the interview Scache got upset when we asked about his committment to football

Reckon Tigers might be a bit wary after what happened to young Reece MacKenzie and think Scache is too much of a risk for their club.
There is a reason for not much interest.

Whoever said pick 7 for him is kidding themselves
Agree there's a reason why clubs are throwing themselves at him

You could very well be right on the reasoning

This isn't a shot at you joff as you're just informing us/repeating what Wallace has said. But what Wallace said made me feel pretty uncomfortable. 20 year old kid moves up north away from family for the first time in a pretty stressful high performing environment. He has a fair bit of pressure on him to perform and unless he's something extremely special, he won't perform inside 4 years (that's how long talls normally take). So he's going through 4 years of underperforming and all the baggage that comes with that. 4 years of potentially being cut the following off season.

He has a massive decision to make. Does he go back on his word to the club his deceased father played for and go back to his support circle? Or does he stay with all the issues he has to deal with there.

Big decision to make at 20. Toughest decisions I was making at 20 was how I could save a few bucks to afford another beer or two on Friday/Saturday night.

Yeah it seemed to be the likely scenario. The club isn't going to get Haynes with out giving up too much if GWS would even consider it. Tomlinson for Hickey is obviously not enough. I'm guessing they want a second rounder next year and Hicks or pick 8 exchanged for their second rounder or something along those lines.

Just to be clear, I got that info from a different source and did not know Wallace had said that.

It's 100% the issues he's had coping with the AFL environment. He's got better stats than all the star forwards at the same age and his first year looked elite potential. This year he looked really uncommitted though, I reckon most Melbourne clubs worry that he'll struggle more thrown into the footy fishbowl in Melbourne. His best case would be to go to a lower ranked club like North and build a career quietly and discretely. If he went to Carlton, Richmond or Collingwood he'd be eaten alive.

Tomlinson's a hard one. I don't see how we do it without at least trading down one of 7/8. Maybe if he was uncontracted we'd get him for a second rounder but I can't see that satisfying the Giants. Much less a future second rounder.

Think this might throw the 'good team to trade with' line under the bus. We've gone to one of their contracted, best 22 players and convinced him to ask for a trade? Maybe that's why they were making inquiries about Gresh.

I can see this going down a bit like the Mitch Brown situation a few years ago.

If the GWS cap is as tight as reported- they will need to offload more than Smith. The Mumford decision will be important for their cap. But you'd think if we hold out for a deal that suits us, the longer the week drags, the more likely GWS buckle for a future second or combination of picks.

Yeah, I asked a friend with contacts what the knock on him was and it's the unknown off field that doesn't involve antisocial activity. He reckons a second round pick would get it done. The bargain hunter in me wishes we had a second rounder.
