No offence taken my friend. I'm just significantly less excited than you are, considering what we'll have to give up for him. I don't believe Richmond won last weekend because they brought Tom Lynch in, they won because they have Martin, Cotchin, Prestia and so on. KPPs don't win premierships, midfielders do. The game has moved past hulking key forwards imo to players like Jeremy Cameron who are basically taller versions of small forwards. Capable of taking big marks but also of chasing and tackling and running all day. Knowing that we'll be parting with picks this year or next for Ben King that would likely equate to midfielders that we desperately need doesn't fill me with excitement.

Tom Lynch didn't hurt in getting them to the big dance though, did he? 5 in the prelim. Also, the Kings are no lumbering dinosaurs. Ben/Max won the GF sprint. There is a theory they are one and the same. It could get awkward when we play Fold Coast next year. I guess we'll find out. Coincidence that Ming didn't play at all while Ben did? Have they ever been seen in the same place at the same time, or are those pictures of them/him photoshopped?

Sounds as though Freo and St Kilda are already on the same level with Hill, which says Saints are committed to giving them 6 though.

I think we are extremely keen to get King this year. Not sure how it happens though as neither Freo or GC will want a future pick.
Lots of clubs have highly rated academy/father son picks next year.
Maybe we take the risk and trade our future first to one of those clubs for their first this year, which we then on trade to the GC?

Hypothetical:
Steven to Geelong for #36.
Bruce to Bulldogs for #12 plus rats and mice (eg: swap of 2020 2nds)
#12 and #36 (= points as #6) to Freo for Hill.
#6 to GC for Bing.
If I was Freo I wouldn't want to risk accepting 12, that's so close to Henry's draft spot.

That's why there's a premium on pick 6 for Freo and that's why I believe they will demand that but be happy enough to give a second rounder in return. The second rounder is potentially only for points for Henry anyway.

Ross is a nuts and bolts player ... he works had and uses every last inch of himself to lift the team ... not unlike Geary ... he is not going to be the guy who has his poster hung up in every kids room but he does his role and does it well with good reliability ... in a perfect world Ross is a third bes mid not our best and give it time as the list improves he will slot back in his place but for the now he is exactly what we need him to be solid and dependable ... you dont call a greyhound slow cause its not as fast as a horse
" You don't call a greyhound slow cause it's not as fast as a horse" WTF?

Love you Trav but that is one puzzling analogy!
And if he is using every last inch of himself to lift the team, which in itself i'm sorry to say is laughable
I would suggest Seb is tracking at about half an inch!

It might take 2020 1st & 36 to GC for Bing, and 6 to Freo for Hill & steak knives (maybe whatever late pick is required to get Grey and Ryder out of Port??), then keep 12, and use the Newnes pick for Jones.

Second day in a row that they have had an opportunity to flat out say King won't be traded this year, yet they haven't. But have done that regarding Lukosius.

This tells me that it could happen this year.

Given our inability to land big fish:

Ben being taken by of all clubs the goldcoast made it a positively inspired choice of max at 4.

Anyone bemoaning us being cursed and always getting screwed by fate (paddy, steven, robbo) should at least acknowledge that sometimes it goes the other way.

Take a look at this Herald Sun article where readers voting on what different players are worth.

In what world is the lowest Bruce is worth pick 32 or multiple picks in the 40s, yet the Hugh Greenwood suggestions are pick 15, pick 20 or a future first.

EDIT: Just looked at their suggestions for Keath - pick 13, future first, future 2nd or pick 32...

Anyone else confused about why Bruce's value is drastically lower than other players like him?

Funny you say that because my son does have a Seb Ross poster from 2016 on his wall; well it's also got Jack Newnes, Jack Steven, Jarryn Geary, Mav Weller on it, he just likes it because its a measuring chart, in fact I don't think he even likes it but he'd whinge if i tried to take it down. Personally I'll be happier when every player on that poster is an ex-Saint.

But Jenkins might get a first… and Zones a future first. lel

Constable is staying at Geelong according to Stephen Wells.
It means nothing at this time of year, if the right deal comes up everyone is on the table.
He's not going say yeah we are happy to move him on

1. Saints pay part of Steven's salary and Cats trade pick 36 = Realistically the best case scenario for us.

2. Cats pay his full salary and/or Steven takes a sizeable pay cut with Saints getting a 3rd round pick = Not great for us but we're doing Jack a solid for the sake of his well being after the great service he has given the club.

3. Saints pay part of Steven's salary and Cats trade a 3rd round pick = Should not be acceptable under any circumstances.

With gold coasts concessions pick 36 effectively is a 3rd round pick anyway.

how is it best case that we have to top up his pay while getting scraps in return?
If we are going to be paying some of his contract I’d rather him sit the year out at full pay rather than trade him to a top team for the scraps they deem surplus to their needs.

So it is the umpires, the coaches around the competition and coaches at the club who are showing bias when voting rather than your own personal bias affecting your view on him?

Yeah. Something like that....Read my post properly before you respond.

The only vote I care for is the players vote and there is no love for Ross there.

Other clubs don’t even plan for him because he can’t hurt them and they consider him to be an ineffectual ball butcher. That is the type of feedback that I take notice of. Not umpires, our former coach or other coaches who couldn’t give a **** when they do the after game votes.

Ross is not an A-grader and never will be. He simple doesn’t have the god given talent. Either make him the last midfielder selected or get rid of him for picks that will help us get A-graders.

The club’s shame at trading our B&F winner is the only thing saving him from being traded.

I really hope Steven stays , unfortunately it looks likely Port Adelaide will get involved with Paddy Ryder with late pick swaps between us and Geelong.
