The question would be does Menegola want to go back to the club that he was once at?

No, the question is whether Hill and his wife want to live in Geelong, or commute daily to work.

We can’t afford to overpay for Hill. What we offered first up was reasonable. Freo wanted more. So I’m glad we walked out. We don’t have the currency that the Kelly deal brought.

Something about a 5 year deal with Hill makes me uneasy. Managing a knee injury already. His older brother fell into an injury hole. A lot of money.

He would be good, and I would be happy if he came. But good luck to Geelong. They have the Kelly goodies. Let ‘em go and spend it all.

Could well be another target out there.

It’s a bluff.

If his demands have stayed the same, they'll be paying everything they gave up for Kelly to give to Hill.

Can't see that happening

Geelong - pick 14 , Future 2nd ,Menengola
StKilda - pick 12 , Future 2nd , Acres

Pretty even I reckon except our future 2nd will be higher maybe .

Geelong have Kelly's new contract dollars sitting waiting.

StKilda have the cash full stop

StKilda want a future 1st for Ben King
Geelong want a future 1st for Cameron

I'm not so comfortable now , BUT I can live with walking away knowing Jones , Ryder , Howard Butler is done and Jack Steven stays , pick 12 is going to the draft .
Actually im Ok with that .

All actual evidence points to a highly competent set of professional now on charge

every player we got a whiff of coming has nominated us

even the pick swap has been a win

don’t sweat it, they’ll get it done, and regardless of how it happens the team will be much better next year because of it

gut says they’ve been into Keith or Howard since before the player exits as Brown was told he’d have to wait and see

every should just put down the range till end of trade week

Lol Hills made it clear he wants to be in Melbourne. His partner has moved here in expectation of being based in Melbourne closer to friends and family.
Last time I checked Geelong isn’t in Melbourne.
Her family live out in the Berwick area

If indeed Bell is responsible for the article bringing the Cats into the frame, it’s really showing his desperation ....last gasp of a drowning man imo.

Would Geelong have any interest in Carlisle? I know they have Stewart who is a star, but apart from an aging Taylor do they have other KPD options?

I feel that he is the one we should be trying to move on. We will either be playing him in his preferred interception role and stifling Battles development or underutilizing him as a key forward, when tbh we could probably get Jenkins for free to play that role better.

If we could trade Steven, Carlisle and our future 2nd for Pick 37 and their future first it would really open up some options.

Could do...

Trade 1:
Steven, Carlisle and 2020 2nd for Pick 37 and 2020 1st

Trade 2:
Bruce and Pick 18 for Pick 13 and Pick 32

Trade 3:
Pick 32 for Z.Jones

Trade 4:
2020 4th for Butler

Trade 5:
Pick 12, Pick 13 and 2020 3rd for Howard, Ryder, Pick 10 and 2020 2nd

Trade 6:
Pick 10, Pick 37 and Geelong's 2020 1st for Hill (basically the same deal as original offer but they now get to say they got their 2 first rounders)

2020 Best 22:

FB: Wilkie Howard Geary
HB: Savage Battle Webster
C: Clark Ross Hill
HF: Gresham King Billings
FF: Membrey Ryder Butler
R: Marshall Hannebery Steele
I/C: Coffield Jones Dunstan Acres
*Roberton as the bonus if he comes good.

Honestly don't see any of those deals being unreasonable and would leave us with our 2020 1st and Ports 2020 2nd to build an offer for Bing around.

I just can't imagine a team pulling off so many trades in a single period. Wonder what the record is for one club.

I’m fairly confident Hill gets done. Bell went into the first meeting with a belly full of viagra & was left holding his dick.

Nothing has come out of that midget campaigner. No “feather in my cap” BS statements. He’s in damage control & will get the deal done. Can almost bookmark IMO.
The silence is deafening from Bell over the Hill trade. Reckon he had the rug pulled right our from under him when we traded 6.

Geelong are a pack of @!?#$s. I suspect they're making these Hill noises to force a better deal for Stuv. Very underhand.
Why won't they just part with 37, are they really expecting to get a better player in the draft at that pick than Stuv. Even obese Stuv is better than what they will get at 37.

Mike Sheahan reported the Freo admin was really angry he didn't take the initial offer.
Reckon he has been told to pull his head in by Admin and get the deal done.

Would say Young was given the same message and that's why he hasn't voiced an opinion.

Freo would know exactly Youngs position and the consequences for them going forward if they **** this up.

Every year we see similar stories about other clubs swooping on players that have nominated a club. It never eventuates. There is even stories that Papley won’t get to Carlton but instead will get to another Melbourne club. It’s BS click bait. Papley will get to Carlton & Hill with get to St Kilda. Loving the Freo fans frothing at the mouth though.
